16.01.2022 Rotation #2: Year 10’s textured teapots and cups waiting patiently to be bisque fired to 1000 degrees! The kiln is cooling down from a glaze firing of 1220 degrees! 09.01.2022 Year 11 Exhibition - Art as Code Artist's Statement: Ketta O Ladylike, is a video inspired by the focus, 'Gender Specific' that I investigated for unit 2, art as code. I explored the concept of gender stereotypes in society, how we mix and defy these fashions. I have decided to create this video, as it heavily resonated with me to use the themes as an opportunity to express myself as an artist, as well as an individual who often finds themselves pushing the boundaries of the ...typical female stereotypes. The concept behind the video is influenced by the appearances and activities associated with male and female genders. Juxtaposition is heavily used throughout Ladylike, with myself depicted with a masculine appearance, indulging in feminine activities while I am additionally shown in a feminine appearance demonstrating masculine movements. The reoccurring theme within this video is inspired by the colours pink and blue, commonly associated with gender. The visuals exhibit myself being ‘branded’ with the colour pink; as the video progresses, the colours are combined to create purple, symbolising the alliance and fusion between male and female. Overall, the main message behind this video addresses the evolution of our society’s gender specifics and how we are all equally capable of expressing ourselves; males can allow themselves to be feminine, females can be masculine, and all the while, we do not let gender define who we are, how we look, what we do, and what we are capable of.
