01.01.2022 Tonight - Thursday, March 12, the Churchill Fellowship national roadshow hits Naracoorte! Limestone Coast residents who are interested in applying for a Churchill Fellowship are encouraged to attend an information session being held at Gather on Gordon, Naracoorte, tonight at 5.30pm. This event will provide a rare opportunity to hear Churchill Fellows share their inspiring experiences, and to receive valuable advice about developing project ideas and preparing applications.... Speakers include Ron Badman Family Churchill Fellowship recipients, Roger Groocock, a farmer from Bordertown who went to Europe and the United States to explore methods to improve the health and productivity of sandy soils; and Keith agricultural adviser and entomologist James De Barro, who travelled to the United States to investigate commercial pollination systems for lucerne seed crops. For more information about Churchill Fellowships and to register for the information session please visit www.churchillfellowships.com.au. Although the event is free, bookings are essential. Fellowship applications can be made online until April 30, 2020, for travel between February 1, 2021, and January 31, 2022. *** Every year, Churchill Fellowships provide a unique opportunity for more than 100 Australians from all walks of life to travel overseas and investigate a topic they are passionate about. Unlike more traditional academic fellowships, they are not given for tertiary study and no formal qualifications are required. Recipients design their own projects and itinerary so they can access expertise in their chosen field, anywhere in the world. The Trust covers travel costs and living expenses for four to eight weeks, with Fellowships worth an average of $29,000 each. Aside from the general fellowships, specific sponsored fellowships are also available in a range of sectors, including the Jack Green Churchill Fellowship for projects relating to dairy, and the Hort Innovation Churchill Fellowship for projects that will lead to innovation in horticulture. In an exciting new collaboration announced this week with the National Farmers Federation (NFF), two recipients interested in agriculture will also receive additional mentoring, networking and development opportunities from the NFF.
