Beyond taking time to decompress and relax, it also speaks to the time required to develo...p healthy habits and positive change that many believe happen overnight. Looking at the welfare of the horse, your horse, we must understand that short cuts of any kind, be it in nutrition, trimming, dentistry, proper tack fitting and maintenance, training and more that without considering first and foremost the health of the horse, we are destined for illness or injury. We do not entertain the methods that only seek to boost the ego of a rider, win ribbons or medals at a show, sell the most tack or make an equine professional the most money. We do not subscribe to methods and gadgets designed to speed the process along, squeeze the horses process into a timetable set by man, or create broken down animals in either their psychology or physique. We do subscribe to methods that take the necessary time, not ALL the time in the world, but again, the NECESSARY time as determined by the horse in his maturity both mental and physical. To be a horse person is to understand that short cuts, coercion and quick-fixes are all detrimental to the horse in one capacity or another. They guarantee a long recovery, and more time off due to the damage done, willingly or not through such methods. Is it ever too late to change your path, or get off the wagon entirely? No, if you're still breathing there is still hope, still time, still opportunities to learn and grow and be better everyday for the sake of yourself and your horse. There was many wonderful things about Donald... One of them being the many firsts he gave people - their first sit on a horse, walk to canter, extended trot, piaffe, flying changes.
