22.01.2022 We are currently calling for students who would like to write micro-reviews of poetry books for the New Zealand Poetry Society. All those who self-identify as a... student and live in New Zealand are welcome to apply. Micro-reviews are 250-500 words long, excluding quotations. Selected students will be able to keep their review book, and all micro-reviews will be published on the NZPS website. At the end of the year, we will pick the best student review to receive a prize. We would also appreciate reviewers who don't mind reviewing older books, as there are older titles on our bookshelf that need some love. If you are interested, please email Emma Shi at [email protected] with your place of study as well as a sample book review.

14.01.2022 We are half way through the 2020 Saturday Club events for Gifted & Talented Children's Association of South Australia and we have all had so much fun. Making bi...oplastics, composting, the ethics of science and biological coding. Phew, I'm so inspired by the drive in these kids. They latch on and love to learn! Two more to go! See more

12.01.2022 https://www.gateways.edu.au/ Programs for High-Ability Students Dear South Australian Parents,... First off, as an organisation whose head office is in Melbourne, we want you to know that we sympathise with your current situation. We endured months of lockdown in an attempt to bring CO-VID 19 numbers down. It was not easy for schools and parents to re-imagine what their children's learning should look like. G.A.T.E.WAYS had to pivot from 25 years of face-to-face programming to providing meaningful and enjoyable challenge and extension for our students online. Given the positive responses we have had from parents and teachers, we got it right! This email is to let you know that we are here for you and your children too, now that you are in lockdown!

11.01.2022 While these are recommendations from a USA state, the table of hours and other suggested activities broken into areas are really useful. Its just another example of how as home learning supervisors we are not to expect our children to be doing 6 hours of formal education per day.

11.01.2022 Dr. Lisa Ridgley is our new Mentoring Committee Co-Chair. She helps organize our mentorship program where graduate students meet up with a scholar in our field while at AERA. Like this post to wish her good luck!

05.01.2022 Sadly, we've had to cancel our final sessions for Gifted & Talented Children's Association of South Australia Saturday Club. #COVID-19 isn't something we can ta...ke lightly, we want all our staff and students to be safe. If you were registered through #GTCASA, you should have received an email. Seniors do have an online option with Dr Deborah. Don't stop being curious, explore the garden or house, or street and let us know what science you found today. Keep well.

05.01.2022 One of our community has sent in the following link and suggested we make parents aware of the questionnaire contained within it as it would seem that the researchers do not have an understanding on what giftedness means/is in reality, and that many gifted students also have other learning challenges such as ADHD etc. https://www.facebook.com/CatholicEducationSA/posts/2710933362492957

03.01.2022 Hi all, After the success of our last advertising campaign, we have been approached by some incredible tutors offering their services to us. One such tutor is a primary school teacher who is studying a Masters of Inclusive and special learning.... We are giving away 2 1 to 1 sessions with her at no cost, we ask that only those who have been impacted by COVID either financially or with a reduction in services for your child or children with special needs who would benefit from some extra assistance apply. We just ask that you like the Facebook page and fill out the form, the sessions will start next week and we will pick what we perceive to be the most deserving recipients by Friday evening. Please share this post far and wide, this is exactly why we started doing what we do! https://forms.gle/fNYKLxQRtJb1sAij7 Cheers, Liam and Rozi
