19.01.2022 Equipment maintenance here at GT Hardwood is a big task. SE QLD Hardwood by it’s nature is a heavy product to handle. It’s therefore hard on our gear. The equipment requires constant maintenance and upgrading to keep up with the production. This movie takes a brief look at some of the memorable bits & pieces we worked on in the last few months of 2020.

18.01.2022 We do a fair bit of road work on our private property mainly so we can keep it in good condition. To build and maintain our roads on our private property we need some special gear for the job. In most cases there’s logs involved so we need to take some logging equipment with us for the mission. We’ve got a bit of a road project to do so we’re loading up early in the morning and we’re heading bush for a few weeks.

17.01.2022 Sharpening here at GT Hardwood is a constant work in progress. Non stop everyday we’re sharpening something. Saws, Knives, Cutters and Chain Saw chains. This movie is series 1 of a series on Sharpening. In this one we’re looking closely at our Canadian Saws and John Gorton in particular. John is what’s known as a Saw Doctor. John has been coming to GT Hardwood to work on our saws since 1970.

03.01.2022 Most of our Sawmill believe it or not is controlled by PLC’s. Industrial Computers that from time to time get out sync for one reason or another. Quite often we have to re program them and get them back on track. Because we’re a Multi Specie Sawmill, we run multiple sizing programs throughout the Sawmill. The reason we do this is because some species of timber that we mill for our drying operation are sawn to different sizing schedules to allow for their specific drying characteristics. In this movie we’re checking our sizing schedules in our Twin Saw Log Edger.
