24.01.2022 I both phoned Adam Bandts’ office, and also wrote a letter on the Greens Australia website in regards to my concerns for the welfare of the Australian Native fauna within the Goulburn Valley channel systems. Neither have been acknowledged by anyone concerned with the Australian Greens Party. These channel systems were created some 80 years ago, and have now developed into a natural habitat for wildlife. Many species have evolved and flourished within this system and the l...oss of both biomass and biodiversity from the system, is an indictment on all of us. More particularly to the Australian Greens as they purport that the Environment is a major concern of the members they represent. If this is so, why is nothing being done to prevent the piping and plastic lining of the channel system, which is killing off this wildlife, many of which are protected (tiger snakes, smokey mouse, turtles, freshwater crayfish), as well as others being on the endangered or threatened list (native water rat, fresh water catfish, barred galaxias, hooded scaley foot-critical) . We as a nation cannot idly standby and allow this to occur. This is our governments and big business interests being catered to, including some environmental groups who are pushing their own agendas. Please all members of the Australian Greens respond to your MP’s to try and prevent the continued destruction of our native wildlife within the Murray and Goulburn valleys.
