21.01.2022 JobKeeper extension The ATO has extended the time to pay the first 2 payments to your employees until 8th May. Keep in mind that the next fortnightly payment is also due by 10th May. Reimbursements for the first 2 fortnights should start flowing next week, maybe even before you have to pay the first 2 payments, but don't rely on the ATO paying quickly.

21.01.2022 Good news for business, the $150,000 instant asset write off has been extended until 31 December 2020

20.01.2022 From 1 July the write off threshold is reverting back down to $1,000. Although there is still accelerated depreciation of 57.5% until 30 June 2021, the $150,000 is ending soon. If you're looking to buy something significant for your business in the next 12 months then maybe now is the time?

17.01.2022 We know many businesses have been impacted by COVID-19, and we’re here to help. The new JobKeeper payment is now available for eligible employers to help them p...ay their employees. 16.01.2022 If you are working from home this may be useful for you. The ATO has announced a temporary new method to claim working from home expenses. For 1 March 2020 - 30 June 2020 you will be able to claim 80 cents per hour when working from home.... The 80 cents per hour covers all expenses such as electricity, gas, cleaning, phone, internet, computer consumables and depreciation. If you choose this method you cannot claim based on any of the other methods at the same time. Under this new method: - You do not have to have a separate dedicated area for work, - Multiple people can all claim under this method, - You need to record the number of hours you worked from home (Diary, timesheet, roster, etc) This an optional simplified method, compared to either claiming 52 cents per hour, or actual costs based on a diary, so it is up to you determine which method you choose. https://www.ato.gov.au//Suppo/Employees-working-from-home/

15.01.2022 One of the main concerns for employers wanting to enrol for the JobKeeper Scheme is that they have to make the $1,500 payments to employees before they are eligible to receive the JobKeeper Payment. For many employers, this is simply impossible. Yesterday, the Treasurer (Josh Frydenberg) spoke with the ‘Big 4’ banks and they have agreed to establish dedicated Hotlines for employers to call in relation to accessing bridging finance. Those Hotline numbers are: ... Westpac - 1300 731 073 NAB - 1800 562 533 (1800 JOBKEEPER) CBA - 13 26 07 ANZ - 1800 571 123
