24.01.2022 Education, training and experience are an important step in the wealth creation process
24.01.2022 As 2020 draws to an end it's the perfect time to look back and reflect on what this crazy year has taught us...
23.01.2022 Every now and then I come across a little nugget of gold that I feel obligated to share
23.01.2022 There are roughly 2,600 billionaires in the world and 55% of them are self-made. Now it's very unlikely that you will become a billionaire BUT there are people that have made substantial money in a short period of time and in this video I talk about some of the ways they have achieved success
23.01.2022 With COVID impacting so many people this might be the most important question asked this year - R U OK?
21.01.2022 Yep, sometimes its not about educating you, or investing money, sometimes my job is simply to annoy you to implement the strategy that you already know you should be doing! Making a financial plan is one thing but sticking to it is a whole new ball game and it takes a lot of discipline. If you don't have discipline, having someone there to push you along the journey can be incredibly helpful! In my latest video I discuss, should you see an adviser? Weighing up the pros of advice with the costs. Link to video in bio
20.01.2022 It's tax time and this year a lot of people have been working from home due to COVID-19. This may mean you can claim some extra deductions to get a juicey refund. In my latest video I discuss potential working from home tax deductions
19.01.2022 There is a myth out there that you need a credit record in order to get a mortgage and it's just not true! Or at least not true for us here in Australia... There are many things you need in order to be eligible for a mortgage but having a prior history of paying off debt is generally not one of them.
18.01.2022 So this really comes as no surprise, we have officially met the technical definition of a recession. The real question is - how long and how deep will this recession be? If you look at the rather swift recovery of the stock market, particularly in the US, a lot of investors are betting this is only a technical recession and things will bounce back pretty quick. I guess time will reveal all but in the meantime I continue to invest with caution
18.01.2022 I read a lot of economic and investment updates but this one from VanEck takes the cake! Well worth the read if you have a spare 20 minutes. https://origin.vaneck.com.au//vaneck_viewpoint_oct2020.pdf
18.01.2022 It always amazes me that people are willing to insure their car, house and pet and yet they often don't insure the thing that pays for all of this - their income! Your ability to earn an income is the greatest asset you have. If you rely on your income to meet living costs, then insure it.
15.01.2022 Here's an interesting little study done by Adviser Ratings. It extrapolates the estimated amount of retirement benefit lost from super withdrawals based on the top 15 super funds and taking into account the average age of the member. The result - a whopping $58 billion of retirement savings gone This figure will likely be higher as this calculation is based on $12.5 billion in withdrawals and it is currently sitting around $15 billion. Also, younger people are the ones who... are making majority of the withdrawals and therefore the average age of the members actually withdrawing the money is likely to be lower than the average age of the funds total member pool. If you don't need the money to cover basic living costs, then keep it in super. You are only robbing from yourself.....
14.01.2022 Hands up if you know you should get a will but keep procrastinating Many people neglect to get a will drafted but its SO IMPORTANT. Lets fix it now. Watch this video then get cracking

11.01.2022 As you have probably heard on the news, the JobKeeper and JobSeeker payments have been extended. Here is a quick explanation of how it all works...
10.01.2022 I didn't get the flu this winter and turns out I wasn't alone! A silver lining of COVID has been that the influenza in Australia was close to non-existent this year which is great because last year the flu caused 902 deaths.
10.01.2022 New video is live!
09.01.2022 There is more to retiring than just money...
08.01.2022 I have been talking lately about the risk that unwinding stimulus could have on asset prices and how it is likely that the government and banks will need to extend some of the current measures to avoid a "cliff". Well it looks like they have started the process! APRA has announced that it will be recommending the banks extend deferred repayment holidays from 6 months to 10 months. This is still a band aid fix that can't go on forever so extending these measures doesn't mean we are out of the wood just yet. We are kicking the can down the road a little further in hope that the economy picks up again and employment recovers so we can once again start meeting our debt obligations and living expenses without government and bank intervention.
07.01.2022 If you are part of the 10% of the Australian population that works for a not-for-profit organisation then you get some incredible salary packaging benefits that you should be utilising...
07.01.2022 FREE WEALTH TRACKER! Before you can control your finances you first of all need to generate positive net cash flow - it is impossible to build wealth if you are spending more than you're earning! Once your budget is under control, you should see that hard work translate into an improvement in your net asset position which can be used to generate passive income.... This is a very basic truth about wealth yet most people get it wrong. This is not due to a lack of understanding but more so a lack of accountability. This is where the Wealth Tracker comes in. The Wealth Tracker is an excel spread sheet that allows you to plan and track your income, expenses, assets and liabilities to keep you accountable and track your progress. Best of all, it's free to download!
06.01.2022 First YouTube video for 2021 is now live!
04.01.2022 When taking a passive approach to ethical investing it is common to follow a relevant MSCI socially responsible index. The following chart outlines the 3 pillars, 10 themes and 37 key issues they use to screen companies to determine if they are investment worthy from an ethical perspective
04.01.2022 The Core + Satellite approach is the best way, in my opinion, to manage a diversified investment portfolio
03.01.2022 There is an ongoing debate about passive vs active investing and the data suggests that passive investing often out performs active fund managers. In fact, 80% of active fund managers underperform their relevant benchmark over a 10 year period! However, of those managers that do out perform their benchmark - can they do so consistenly? Let's have a look....
03.01.2022 The coronavirus supplement has been extended until the end of March 2021 but is getting reduced again from $250 per fortnight to $150 per fortnight next year (originally started at $550 per fortnight).

01.01.2022 Some of the videos I make are pretty specific, only applying to a relatively small group of people, but not this one! If you have a property or ever intend to buy a property then I think you can get some value out of this video
