We were very much looking forward to presenting our accessible and sensory garden to you at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show to demonstrate the amazing collaboration our staff and clients have worked on in the last few months to design and create the incredible garden beds. We hope that you are able to understand that this is a very difficult decision for our Board & Senior Leadership Team to make, but we wholeheartedly feel that it is the right one. We remain eternally grateful for the support you have shown to our organisation. Right now, we are focused on ensuring the support for our Clients is maintained during this difficult time for everyone. Thank you for your support at this time. Our OTs and O&Ms share some great tips on how to level-up your gardening game to create an enjoyable and accessible space for all abilities.... Plus our Young Adult Program (YAP) is adapting! YAP is a fun, safe space for people who are blind or have low vision, aged between 18 and 35, to connect, share ideas, and learn from one another. During this period of social distancing, YAP is changing the way they meet. Our Coordinators are busy thinking outside the box to plan ways for our Yappers to keep connected and are hoping to create some online catch-ups. Some changes have been made to normal procedures for Guide Dog Handlers using taxis and rideshare services such as Uber to further minimise risk during the COVID-19 pandemic. Guide Dog Handlers are being asked to travel in the back seat of the vehicle on the recommendation of the Federal Government, the Taxi Industry, the Ride Share Services sector and Guide Dogs Aust...ralia. Whilst we navigate through these unprecedented times, we know for certain that we will get through this by supporting each other and working together as one.
