22.01.2022 Final Scores - Round 11 2nd XI Guild Saints 8/249 dec... Tim Thompson 88 Kevin O'Leary 51 Newcomb and District 212 Tim Thompson 5/73 Trae Lyons 4/3 The 2nd XI travelled to Grinter Reserve looking for early wickets on a damp and cold day 2. Credit must go to both sides for wanting to play in those conditions when a lot a games around Geelong were called off for Weather. The early wicket that Guild required came in the 1st over with Tim Thompson removing the batsmens stumps to get the visitors rolling. Vamsi, who was bowling in Tandem with Tim Thompson got further reward for his effort when Charul was able to hold onto a sharp chance at Slip to redeuce Newcomb to 3/106 A partnership of 73 between batsmen Elliott and Vella was threatening to take the game away from Guild at 3/179 and with Tim still bowling at one end unchanged and Patrick Patel giving Vamsi Guild needed a wicket prior to Tea. Tim delivered the wicket with a quality piece of bowling and a nice catch from Kevin O'Leary batsman Vella was out for 32 Alot of Credit for position Newcomb were in has to go to opening batsman Jack Elliott who went to tea with a well crafted 87 not out his team 4/198 In the 2nd over after Tea captain Tom Murphy pulled a rabbit out of his hat tossing the ball to Trae Lyons who proceeded to remove Jack Elliott caught behind with his 1st ball 5/200 Batsman Bell became Thompsons 5th wicket for the innings with Trae cleaning up the last 3 wickets for 3 runs It completed a remarkable bowling performance of 6/14 after tea and secured 6pts and keeping Guild finals hopes alive. 21.01.2022 Announcement - Pre Season Training

21.01.2022 Current Ladders With 2 games remaining in the season and matches against Alexander Thomson & Waurn Ponds/Deakin to come the current ladders are as below 1st XI - Fourth ... 2nd XI - Sixth

21.01.2022 Article courtesy of the Geelong Advertiser.... Difficult fixture awaits as Guild-St Marys sits pretty with 3-1 record A 3-1 start has Guild-St Marys in the GCA3 top-four. But within eight days the Saints will face each of the other three sides alongside them in a testing run that will show where they sit.... A STRONG start will be put to the test in the next two weeks as Guild-St Mary’s plays each of the other three teams in the GCA3 top-four within eight days. Sitting with a 3-1 record after consecutive nailbiting wins over Manifold Heights, Lethbridge and Waurn Ponds-Deakin, the Saints are set for a bruising run. First comes fourth-placed Geelong West this Saturday, then Guild-St Marys will meet league leaders Corio next Saturday and second ranked Bannockburn the very next day. Saints skipper Mike Norris said that while the club was always aiming to play finals, the playing group was enjoying the game before results this season. We are doing really well together and the boys on the pitch, they take over their own jobs and they have a smile on their face, he said. I back every single one of our bowlers, I throw them the ball in whatever situations and I can definitely rely on them. We are full of confidence but we know that we have a lot to improve on. As you can see from all the results, we are only just getting over the line but we are getting there. It was Norris himself who played the winning hand in Round 4 against Waurn-Ponds Deakin, with a remarkable five-wicket haul. The Eagles were cruising at 5-94, just 27 runs from victory and with skipper Garry Lolicato on 54 when Norris took the ball. He got to skid one through Lolicato and bowled him, sparking a flurry of activity to close out the match. I just backed myself to get six balls in the right spot and that they would play a rash shot, Norris said. They only needed less than 30 to win and with a spinner coming on their eyes might have lighted up and luckily I got one to grip on the deck and it skidded through and cleaned up the captain. With the Eagles lower order coming in with an eye to finishing the job quickly, Norris tossed up his off-spin in the hope of drawing false shots and the batsmen obliged. After just 4.2 overs, Norris claimed 5-19 and Waurn Ponds-Deakin was knocked over 106. With the tail, I was just trying to get it above the eyeline and with them only needing 20 odd, they just went for it, he said. That is the quickest I have ever taken five wickets but last year I did take five (5-39) against them as well so it is a good hunting ground for me.

20.01.2022 Progress Scores - Round 11 2nd XI Guild Saints 8/249 dec... Tim Thompson 88 Kevin O'Leary 51 Newcomb and District 1/88 Tim Thompson 1/27 The 2nd XI travelled to Grinter Reserve looking to bounce back from a loss against Geelong West in extremely tough conditions last week. Captain Tom Murphy won the toss & elected to bat a decision that looked to have backfired when Guild were reduced to 2/21 with the loss of Lakshay & Matthew Nunn. Tim Thompson & Kevin O'Leary then produced an outstanding partnership of 123 both guys passing 50 - the partnership was accentuated by quality driving and powerful shots from both Kev & especially Tim Kev was out with score at 2/144 but his wicket didn't stop Tim getting to 88 before being caught on last ball before tea. The middle to late order was accentuated by a 22 ball 33 from Tom Murphy his innings containing 7 boundaries. The innings was declared at 249 with Guild looking for early wickets to force home the advantage. Unfortunately we were only able to get 1 wicket before stumps with the Newcomb and District batsmen getting the score to 1/88 at stumps. Make Winning a habit

15.01.2022 Final Scores - Round 9 1st XI - Guild Saints - 9/184 (50 Overs)... D.Tresize 51 G.Stripling 36 M.Cowdrey 21 Waurn Ponds/Deakin - All Out 115 (35.4 Overs) T.Brain - 4/28 M.Vuik - 3/20 D.Tresize - 2/18 On a perfect day for cricket Guild won the toss and elected to bat on what looked to be a very good wicket for batting although a slow outfield would also greet the players. Captain Mike Norris & Grant Stripling opened the Innings for Guild but were only able to put on 15 for the 1st Wicket before the Captain was run out after a miscommunication for 3 Jon McLaren then joined Grant at the crease to put on a Partnership of 59 to take the score 1/74 when Jon was out caught for 19. Grant was then caught for 36 and the score 3/84 all the earlier good work was threatening to unravel quickly Dan Robinson and Kevin O'Leary came and went in quick succession with only the steady hands of Damian Tresize and Marcus Cowdery held the middle order together. The Score progressed to 5/146 when Marcus was out bowled for 21 and became 7/150 with Tim Brain adding just 1. All the while Damo grafted a 96 ball 51 which contained 6 fours and 1 Six With a valuable 12 run partnership between Trae Lyons & Mick Vuik we were able to post 9/184 after 50 overs. Requiring early wickets to strengthen our position Tim Brain obliged with a spell of real quality Tim ripped the Waurn Ponds top order apart taking 4 wickets and reducing the visitors to 5/34. his was a position that Waurn Ponds were never able to recover from with Mick Vuik & Damo picking up the final 5 wickets between them to secure the 6pts and our 4th win of the year. With Results going our way over the weekend and the run rate boost received Guild have made there way to 4th position on the ladder with 4 matches to play. Saturday was also a massive day for our club as we hosted past players from our 3 clubs Guild Saints Guild Cricket Club St.Marys Cricket clubs Also a massive shout out to our amazing sponsors who without there support the club would not be what it is It was amazing to see and meet many of our past players and we hope to have them more involved over the years to come. ,

14.01.2022 Progress Scores- Round 10 1st XI Guild Saints - 269 All Out... K.Sloan 81 M.Norris 58 J McLaren 33 T.Lyons 33 Geelong West -0/10 Round 10 saw us make the short trip to West Oval to take on the seventh placed Geelong West Rams. On a day when we welcomed yet another 1st XI debutant in Eli Cashion, Captain Mike Norris won the toss and elected to bat. Mike and Grant set about the day on a pitch that appeared to be good for batting. While Mike was looking good early moving the score to 20, Grant was unable to trouble the scorers finding himself caught behind for a duck. Grant's 42 ball knock had help to take the shine off the new ball and allowed Mike & Jon McLaren to add 76 for the 2nd wicket with Jon dismissed for 33 & the score at 2/96 Guild were in a good position. Mike then brought up his 1st 50 of the season but was Dismissed for 58 off 105 balls shortly after. 3/101 Kane Sloan was then joined by Damien Tresize to add another 24 runs, Damo bowled for 1. 4/125 A few people watching were hoping Dan Robinson could steady the ship when he joined Kane in the middle and steady the ship he did with a paient 21 off 44 balls which allowed Kane to bring up his 50. At 4/185 things were looking good for a big score but the loss of Robbo, Eli Cashion and Kevin O'Leary in quick succession reduced the score to 7/206 and all of the sudden there was a real chance of undoing a lot of great work from earlier in the day. The increasing more reliable Trae Lyons then entered the field at number 9 & with Kane added another 23 runs before the fall of the eighth wicket. Kane Sloan was out with the score 8/229 for an outstanding 81 from 99 balls with 12 boundaries. Trae, Mick Vuik & Chris Dickenson were able to add 40 between them and get the score to 269 when Trae was last man out for 33 from 49 balls Dicko remained 8 not out & Guild would be required to bowl 2 overs before stumps were drawn. Within those two overs, The Rams were able to put 10 on the board without loss. All in all the boys were outstanding with the bat and will need to be just as good with the ball next weekend Make winning a habit

11.01.2022 Final Scores - Round 9 2nd XI Waurn Ponds/Deakin ... All Out 146 C.Patel - 3/32 N.Nunn - 2/13 V. Rama - 2/28 Guild Saints - 1/156 C.Patel - 63* E.Cashion - 56* A great all round performance by the 2nd XI on the weekend running out 9 wicket victors at Jarvis Oval. An outstanding bowling performance from Charul Patel & Vamsi Rama backed up by an extremely tight 10 Over spell from Tim Thompson of 1/6 restricted the home side to 7/95 before Eli and Captain Matt Nunn cleaned up the tail with latter unlucky not to pick up a hat-trick The home side Dismissed for 146 from 46.2 overs. Chasing scores of between 120 -150 can sometimes be Difficult to complete so when Matt Nunn & Eli Cashion strode to the wicket there was plenty of work to undertake Fear not the captain would put together an opening partnership of 54 where he would contribute 25 Charul then joined Eli and both guys played some quality cricket shots with Eli bringing up his 50 and remaining 56* with 8 fours off 112 balls while Charul who at 1 stage had 10 scoring shots which were all boundaries completing a 2nd 50 of the season finishing with 63* off 66 with 12 fours and 1 Six. A great victory and something to build on for the 2nd half of the season. Make winning a habit

11.01.2022 3rd XI - The guys in the 3rds should be congratulated for sticking through a difficult season where they are clearly in a division which is extremely tough despite a number of attempts to have the guys re-graded. Although they haven't been successful on the field there has been alot of enjoyment had.... Credit must go to David House, Mark Newby & David Middleton for holding the side together and developing new players to our club hopefully the boys can get a win in the remaining weeks and finish off strong. The writer of these reviews apologizes for the lack of action on the 3rds this season but will make them a priority in season 2020/21

09.01.2022 Congratulations to Sahdev Patel on playing his 100th game for Guild St. Marys this week! Sammy's 1st season at the club was back in 2010/11 season. He has been travelling from the Outer suburbs of Melbourne to play for this club since. Season 2013/14 he scored his highest score of 105 vs Thomson where he dispatched the home side bowlers to all parts of the ground including some Massive 6's. Last year he produced his best bowling figures against a Helpless St. Albans taking 7.../23 A great bloke who is confident of his own abilities, never takes a backwards step and always has his team mates back. CONGRATULATIONS SAMMY! Career Stats Runs: 1567 Avg: 17.22 Highest Score: 105 100s x 1 50s x 4 Wickets: 88 @ 23.40 Best Bowling: 7/23

09.01.2022 RESULTS 1st ELEVEN The first go 3/1 at the start of the season after another heart stopper at Jarvis Oval. After winning the toss and batting, there wasn’t much to write home about after a disappointing batting performance on a wicket that required patience. ... The club welcomes back Fletcher Henry after a two year break and anyone would think he had no time off at all. Coming in at 5 he played some very calculated shots and got himself to 35 which was probably the catalyst in giving us a somewhat defendable score of 120. An early run out helped our cause but gritty batting from Ponds captain Garry Lolicato was proving to make a victory harder and harder. Second change bowlers Vamsi Rama and Simran Cheema came on and brought us back in the game with two quick scalps each to get us to 5/60. Lolicato went on to get his 50 before captain Mike Norris took the ball himself and Lolicato played on off a Norris Wrong un. The score at 6/94 at this stage. Norris then went on to remove the next four batsmen and guide us to another victory finishing with figures of 5/19 off 4.2 overs. Ponds all out for 106 and a 14 run victory for us In another nail biting display. We are very happy with the start to the season but have another tough game next week up against Geelong West. 2nd Eleven Waurn Ponds won the toss and batted. Guild St.Marys welcomed Josh Rhodes from North Geelong cc to our club this season with his father Joffa heavily involved in the past. 16 year old Josh took the new ball with Neil Patel and finished with tremendous figures of 3/20 off his 8 overs. Neil was economical as usual with 1/19 off his ten. With some good catching and a couple of run out we managed to restrict ponds to 9/178. The star of the chase was Vijay Ramesh who carried his bat unbeaten on 93. It’s a shame Vijay couldn’t get his first century for the club in his second season. It was a very handy 6 wicket win for the seconds. THIRD 11 Newtown and Chilwell made 5-171 with Karamjit Singh Pandher the pick of the bowlers with 3/14 off his 8. We only managed 85 in the chase with Ashutosh Kumar Singh managing 25 with some good boundary hitting. It was a disappointing loss for the thirds but the plus side is it is only their first defeat of the season. FOUTH 11 During the batting Craig Phillips and Hassan Shaffiq continued their good form with 41 and 30 respectively but there wasn’t much else to write home about as we were bundled out for 127. North Geelong chased it down making 5/131 off 30 overs with captain Chris Dickenson the pick of the bowlers with 2/16 off his 8. It was also the first lost for the fourths. 2/4 wins for the club this week. So let’s get everyone to training during the week and all supporters keep turning up to the games as we continue to build on a positive start to the season!

09.01.2022 It is with great regret given the unprecedented circumstances that we are facing that the club cancel its upcoming 2019/20 presentation night. We would like to thank those who were working on making this a great night. Award Winners will be posted in the near future

08.01.2022 Progress Scores- Round 11 1st XI Newcomb and District ... All Out 224 (81.2 overs) T.Brain 2/36 C.Dickenson 2/32 G.Stripling 2/41 K.Sloan 2/55 Our last home game of the season sees top of the table Newcomb and District visiting Frier Reserve. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat in perfect conditions with the openers making steady progress in the first 20 overs. Grant then made the 1st breakthrough for the day trapping Star Newcomb batsman Matt Harrison LBW for 32 with the score on 64. Grant dragged Guild back into the contest with a 2nd wicket when the score was 82 & when Kane Sloan had Newcomb captain Jackson Burke caught, the score was 3/106 and very very much level before tea. Newcomb proceeded to 3/123 at the break and with Guild requiring wickets early in the session Tim Brain obliged with 2 quick wickets to reduce the visitors to 5/126 A small partnership between batsmen Robertson and Richter pushed the score to 5/157 before Chris Dickenson was able to reduce the visiting batting lineup to 7/157 Some quality batting from the tail managed to get the score to 9/224 when Damian Tresize picked up the final wicket in the 82nd over After some discussion between the captains and umpire stumps was called as the game loses 4 overs for change of innings. An all around performance by the bowlers has given us a chance to cement 4th spot for another week but we will need to bat through the day to achieve the goal. Make winning a habit
