12.01.2022 This incredible cake made its way to an exciting celebration over the weekend. She consisted of five layers of a lemon cake, infused with lemon curd and a light and fluffy lemon butter buttercream. A white chocolate drip and light dusting of gold glitter to add that sparkle! Cake topper supplied by Ipswich Cake Decorating Supplies. The semi naked cake look still remains one of my favourite looks on a cake. It’s understated, it allows the cake underneath shine and adds that rustic simplicity, letting your cake topper (whichever you’re choose) to dominate the cake and make it pop. 10.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone! So this is the incredibly cute and squishy reason I’ve been so quiet of late! Introducing you to..... Maci Joan McCallum, born 23 January 2020. At a tiny 2.70kgs, 47cms long, Maci has been born into the year of lots of firsts - What a year to be born! Maci has been a wonderful addition to our loving family, she’s been a tough little nugget and had some ups and downs since coming home, working her little body out, but we seem to be on a nice plateau ...for now! With lockdown, a new baby, a toddler and home schooling the three other kidlets, the last four months has absolutely flown by! Thank you for your wonderful messages of support and being patient! I’m slowly getting ready to get back to baking, I’ve just had to adjust my workload in accordance with the needs of my newest little person arriving and our family of seven PM me for quotes, questions or requirements. 09.01.2022 An Early New Year cake for someone incredibly special in my life. My Grandma has been a massive and special part of my life since the day I was born. She’s always been there to talk to, loved and supported me through a few battles I’ve been through in life. She has always understood we’re all human, no one is perfect and always looks forward to how we can improve things and pave a new path in life. She’s been in her own pickles in her lifetime, but she manages to find a healthy balance in understanding, compassion, the slap of realism we sometimes need and always astounds me as to how quick witted, physically and mentally active she is. Happy 80th to my amazing Grandma Joan Preece, each and every one of us loves you so very much! xx

07.01.2022 I’ve now finished what has been a busy year caking! I’ve met some more amazing humans and have been super grateful for your loyal support and wonderful ideas, that sometimes start as seeds and flourish into beautiful creations, such as this last 2019 cake. A beautiful vanilla six layer cake with colour coordinated goodies on top, cascading down the side. Happy Birthday Lauren! Thank you to everyone who has supported GP Cakes and Cupcakes in 2019. You’ve all been incredible!... I begin my maternity leave from this week, to prepare to welcome our baby girl into the world. This will put me out of action for the first 6weeks of 2020, while we settle both our new addition into our family, and our other cherished children into the new school year. We are jumping-out-of-our-skin anxious to meet the newest special, squishy member of the McCallum family! Stay tuned for her birth announcement (all going well..) in January 2020. 05.01.2022 Morning My Cake Crazies! You’ll see these structural straws inside al of my tall barrel style cakes. They come in a variety of colours, but serve the same purpose. Usually using 3 or 4, they stop your cake from toppling over, tipping slightly, or collapsing. You can cut around them - they’re well worth the investment, which I build into my cake pricing.
