24.01.2022 Proud of Lizzy Bailey and Fran & Clare from COS WE CAN representing GUILTY @ Free The Bid AUSTRALIA. Free the Bid is a simple, direct, real action to break the appalling cycle that has been keeping Women Directors out of Film and TV industry. Only nine percent of Ads in Australia are directed by Women yet we have 85 percent purchasing power. A no brainer.... One Women bid for every job will certainly help make that unconscious bias conscious. Pledge now and support. 24.01.2022 Congrats to Tovo & Rohan on the release of The Booster Tag campaign for CHE. Chris writes: I really cant think of many jobs that I havent loved being part of, but The Booster Tag is without a doubt one that stands head and shoulders above the rest. Purely for how much good it can do in assisting all us parents in keeping our precious cargo safe by taking the confusion out of when its actually safe for our children to graduate out of a booster seat (its height not age). It...s not just an idea that truly reflects how brilliant the creatives that I get to work with are, its also a piece of work that we believe will reduce the amount of serious injuries and/or death that unnecessarily happens to children who have been in a car accident. Thank you so much Chris Andrews, Amy Dyer, Ant White and CHE Proximity for trusting me with your vision. Special shout out to GUILTY producer Rohan Timlock for making such mammoth undertaking so seamless. See more of Tovos work at guiltycontent.com/christopher-tovo

20.01.2022 Guilty Director Edwin McGill’s Old Spice campaign - The Way Thick Hair Was - has been a streaming sensation, clocking 10+ million views on Youtube. Working with Portland agency Wieden + Kennedy, McGill provided a retro take on the much-loved brand, channelling an era where nothing said masculinity like an open-necked shirt and a full head of hair, and nothing said sophistication like melted cheese on a stick. The campaign was shot on location in Los Angeles at the Fox Residen...ce, the former home of crooner Frank Sinatra, to provide an authentically cool backdrop as the ultimate 70s pad. To enhance this vintage look-and-feel, the campaign was shot on 35mm film, giving it an unmistakably dreamy retro aesthetic. Who needs lockdown banana bread when you can have fondue?! 07.01.2022 MADC STARS CREATIVE SHOWCASE RETURNS TO CELEBRATE MELBOURNES BEST Set to return again this year, the MADC will showcase Melbournes most groundbreaking work at its annual Creative Showcase.... This years theme, Long Live Creativity, celebrates the miracles of concepts that triumph over the toughest of odds. Its a known industry truth that for every big, beautiful, award-winning idea, there are countless casualties along the way. As such, the Creative Showcase is inviting the industry to come together and honour the ideas that died, by celebrating the ones that made it. With a non-conventional award system, the MADC Stars Creative Showcase only awards the cream of the crop no gold, silver or bronze just the best of the best. Furthermore, every piece of work worthy of recognition will be celebrated, with no restriction on winners per category. Rather, judges will provide commentary on why each piece of work was recognised as a winner. Submissions are reasonably priced at $75. Again this year, the pricing format is designed to be accessible, allowing agencies of any size to get involved. The judging panel, built of highly awarded Australian creative expats will be announced next week. With a highly praised format that truly celebrates creativity, Guilty, Alt.vfx, Electric Dreams and Coco Productions have committed as key sponsors of the event. The MADC would also like to thank its agency supporters for their generosity: AJF, BWM Dentsu, By All Means, CHE Proximity, Cummins&Partners, DDB, Deloitte, Fenton Stephens, Havas Melbourne, Leo Burnett, M&C Saatchi, Marmalade, McCann, Monkeys, Ogilvy, Royals, Saatchi & Saatchi, SDWM, Taboo, TBWA, Thinkerbell, VMLY&R, WhiteGrey, Wunderman Thompson. Says Adrian Bosich, MADC president: Last years show was tremendously well received by a sellout crowd. The new format has been praised for its brevity, quality, and judging format consisting of notable overseas expats, as we continue to redefine the vital elements of a local award show. This year we take it further, while keeping it streamlined and simple collectively celebrating the best work Melbourne has ideated and executed. In addition to this recognition, its the community building that is just as important a great excuse to come together, celebrate, converse and connect with one another. Entries are open from now until Sept 25th, with late entries accepted until Oct 18th (late fees apply). With judging occurring soon after, no extensions are possible beyond this date. Save the date for MADC Stars Creative Showcase and party on November 14th. Enter now at madc.awardsengine.com 2019 theme image credit: Ed Croll.

05.01.2022 AIMC Wednesday Breakfast - Filmmakers on Innovative Exhibition-led Funding Model ---- At last years AIMC, director Clayton Jacobson, and producers Tait Brady and Jason Byrne pitched an idea to some exhibitors about coming on board a film project. They raised almost 10% of the budget for Sibling Rivalry - Tait and Jason call it that always difficult last 10% - from exhibitors, who came on as partners in the project (not investors) and effectively booked the film before i...t was ever shot, and committed to pay them a modest amount upfront, which in turn went into the financing of the film. Tait says: Voila. Its like an advance payment of the film hire, but it helped us finance the film. We think its the first time its ever been done in Australia." A year later, Tait, Clayton and Jason return to the AIMC to show some footage to their exhibition partners, and tell other exhibitors about the film and this innovative financing model. Jason says there are still a few places open for exhibitors to come in on Sibling Rivalry (WA & QLD). At this special AIMC breakfast session, the filmmakers explain how the Sibling Rivalry funding model works, debut a teaser trailer for the film, and share details of how they are starting the process of financing their next film, using a similar model. Wed, October 11 - the AIMC Breakfast session, from 7.45 am in the Pavilion Ballroom. Guest speakers this session also include Eric Reed from Kencast and Henry Noel from Harman.
