23.01.2022 SOLD.....SOLD.....SOLD.....SOLD.....SOLD Yamaha FG350 Red Label MIJ Vintage late 60’s. The FG350 was part of what could be called a 2nd gen series of red label guitars that replaced the then flagship FG300 with the new Fg500. Made by Nippon Gakki Japan, this 2nd series had more subtle decorative treatment, and introduced exotic tone woods to the FG series.... Typically Yamaha’s were made old school, hide glue construction and nitro finish, and were known for their quality construction and unique mini Jumbo design. The secret to Yamaha’s success was really in their design. The vast majority of Japanese makers were copying Martin. Yamaha’s had more of a Gibson influence, revealed in their light bracing, giving vintage Yamaha’s their signature tone. Specs.. Spruce top Coral Rosewood back and sides Mahogany neck, fretboard and bridge 44mm nut with Neck and headstock binding Medium V neck profile The FG350 has a big sound, lots of volume and projection, big bass. These are loud guitars. Cosmetics, this guitar has been heavily played over its life. The play wear is very evident, wear on the neck finish, finish checking, worn fretboard, wear around the sound hole etc. Tons of mojo. Vintage guitars with this kind of play wear, well, it quickly becomes evident why. Structurally, this is in very sound condition. Great action [1.5mm at fret 12], very low action at the 1st fret, which adds up to a guitar with a very soft and easy playing feel, as most of these old Yammy’s have. The neck is straight. Custom made Camel bone nut fitted. Original saddle and tuners. The 1st 5 frets have been replaced by a luthier. They were just too worn. A great player, original, unmolested and well played vintage guitar, ready to go! Shipping is available Australia wide.
23.01.2022 SOLD.....SOLD,......SOLD......SOLD........SOLD 1970 YAMAHA FG 300 - Red Label Vintage Nippon Gakki, MIJ. The FG 300 was the flagship guitar for Yamaha in the late sixties. This is a rare red label, made in Japan.... Typically Yamaha’s were made old school, hide glue construction and nitrocellulose finish, and known for their quality construction and unique mini Jumbo design. The secret to Yamaha’s success was really in their design. The vast majority of Japanese makers were copying Martin. Yamaha’s have more of a Gibson influence, especially seen in the FG300’s likeness to the Gibson Hummingbird, along with the use of an adjustable saddle like Gibson introduced in the 60’s. The Gibson infulence in design and construction is especially apparent in the light bracing, which gives vintage Yamaha’s their signiture tone. Specs.. Spruce top Rosewood back and sides Mahogany neck, fretboard and bridge Adjustable saddle Mother of Pearl inlays to fretboard, bridge and the headstock YAMAHA. Decorative bridge Neck and headstock binding Medium V neck profile The tones on these guitars have a reputation as being beautiful. I would add unique. The original pickguards have a tendency to self-destruct as this one did. A simple black replacement was made and fitted. Cosmetics are as to be expected from a vintage guitar. Structurally, this is in very sound condition. The neck is straight with plenty of room for future adjustment to the action of the guitar. Great player, and as usual for vintage Yamaha’s, it has a very soft playing feel. This guitar is set up and ready to play as is. There is an original case available to be negotiated with this listing. It is being offered with a few guitars so it could be made unavailable at short notice. Shipping is available Australia wide.

L series guitars competed head to head with Gibson and Martin in the Japanese domestic market for high end guitars and were not exported. ... The L series, introduced in 1976, replaced the high end FG Custom Shop guitars like the FG1000, FG1200, FG1500, FG2000 and FG2500. Old school quality L10 features: * Dovetail neck joint * Hide glue construction * Nitrocellulose gloss finish * Solid Ezo Spruce top - rare Northern Japanese tone wood, banned species * Solid Jacaranda back and sides, banned species * One piece African Mahogany neck * Ebony fretboard and bridge * Detailed fretboard parquetry inlays * Multiple detailed decorative binding * Mother of Pearl headstock inlay * Bone nut and saddle * Ebony bridge pins This guitar has undergone some resto work by Mark at Rocket Music IN 2017, Work done neck reset, complete re-fret, some refinish work; the top was sanded back to bare wood and refinished, neck and headstock were touched up, all in nitrocellulose to blend and resemble the existing finish. The original finish on the guitar (back and sides) has some marks and scuffs expected on a vintage guitar. The original tuners were not with the guitar. Mark fitted high end Gold plated Grover’s taken from a Maton Messiah. Action at the 12th fret is around the 1.8mm-2mm mark while action at fret 1 is strings 1,2=14thou; strings 3,4=16thou; strings 5,6=18thou, adding up to a guitar with a nice low and playable action with no fret buzz and an easy/soft playing feel. I custom fabricated and fitted a Camel bone nut. Tone - Very clear and crisp tones with lots of sustain with the current setup. i.e. the heavier grovers, bone nut/saddle and ebony bridge pins. The work done takes time and playing for the guitar to open up. It's had very little play since the resto work so this guitar is still improving. A quality high end vintage guitar from Yamaha with lovely detail in the finish. A rare offering. Included in this sale is the genuine original Yamaha branded plush case that shipped with high end guitars when new, and the original truss rod wrench. Shipping available Australia wide.

02.01.2022 ....SOLD....SOLD....SOLD.... Ibanez Artist 2630 Vintage MIJ 1978 This old, original, unique and quite rare Artist Series guitar from 1978 is Ibanez's take on the Gibson ES335. Want to channel BB King? This is your guitar.... The late 60's and early 70's saw a big move by the major Japanese guitar makes to copy the popular USA guitar makers - eg. Gibson, Fender, Gallagher and Guild. For Ibanez the Artist 2630 was the fore runner into the big league, followed by the AS series (AS100 and AS200) and the John Scofield signature model, making Ibanez a major stake holder in the 335 style guitar market. As a result, these guitars have become iconic instruments. Released in 1976, the 2630 Artist features the Super 80 "Flying Fingers" humbucker, offering impressive versatility in the jazz and blues sound, both clean and dirty. This vintage Artist 2630 guitar is in good condition with very lite use as evidenced by the the condition of the frets and fretboard which are in good shape and not a lot of ware. It is a wonderful guitar with the Classic es335 tones due to its Maple body and neck and comes with a hard case. With the exception of age which has caused some of the gold plating to corrode a little, cosmetically it is also in really good condition with very little ware showing on the body. The binding on the body has some minor spider cracking but is structurally sound. Binding to the neck and headstock is in great condition. The binding all over has a lovely aged amber patina as expected on a guitar of 40 odd years. Elsewhere there are a few minor scuffs to the finish. Otherwise the finish is in very good condition. The factory pick guard comes with the guitar but is not currently attached. A backing cap from one of the machine heads has been replaced with a non-branded cap. The rest of the machine head is original. Specs of this iconic include: * Arched curly maple top and back with maple rims * Full length mahogany sustain block * Rock maple set neck * Select ebony fretboard with pearl-abalone-pearl inlays * Half-bone/half-brass nut comes with the guitar but bone nut installed * 22 VelveTouch frets - all original and barely played * Bridge pickup Ibanez Super 80 tri-sound * Neck pickup Ibanez Super 80 * After market bridge * Ibanez Gibraltar (type 1) slotted tailpiece * Controls: Individual volume and tone (using original SureGrip type 1 knobs), three-position pickup selector, tri-sound selector for neck pickup (up = out-of-phase humbucker; middle = single coil; down = humbucker) * Ibanez Velve-Tune double worm gear machines with pearloid buttons and locking nuts (see comment above) * Full ivoroid binding to body, neck and headstock * Gold plated hardware in good condition * Antique Violin (AV) finish * Comes with hard shell case Can pack safely for transport if required. More pics available on request.
