25.01.2022 Jim Bob Taylor, she's ready for inspection.... This is the latest Roadkill T style to come off the bench.... I really liked the Rick Parfitt Tele we did for Jack last year, in particular was the idea of using a les paul tailpiece as the bridge ala the LP junior, so that also led me to using a P90 in the bridge posi ( hand wound by Dave Leddin BTW) and a Tele neck pick up that i've wanted to put in something forever.... The tone is sublime... There's so much to say about this guitar, however it'll speak for itself when I do demo on Monday...

22.01.2022 Stop Press! she's sold.... Congrats to Mark B Comrades, here's the demo I've been meaning to do for our 1974 Les Paul Custom and a quick chance to show off the latest "roadkill" T style just for good measure.... Not my bestest playing but hey!, it's about the guitar not the norbert playing it right?https://youtu.be/by2U2aPzIsY

21.01.2022 Now this is a special bit of kit .... Garry consigned this 2001 Tele Standard with me a few days ago. To say this guitar is Mint is an understatement. There is not a scratch on her... Garry bought this guitar for his daughter back in 2002, however life, marraige and motherhood has seen her lie unused for years... medium weight body and great feel.... and just look at that red!.... 1450.00 w/ orig factory case.... someone is going to get something super special when they purchase this little tele

21.01.2022 Dear Comrades, this week I has mostly been making a guitar for myself.... and what a guitar it is!... I'm sorry that there's so many pics of this guitar but I just love it!..and why am I doing this?..... it's time to get the band back together of course.... albeit 41 years later....but back to the guitar... this is how we do it...... 1. I find the components I think will work together using parts from a variety of sources, a neck here a body there.. large and small, some new ...some cool older components.... in this case the Body is light weight Alder and has been kicking around the shop for at least 5 years.... the neck I bought from "Mr Fabulous guitars" ,,, It's a "roasted maple" apparently... all I know is it looks super cool and suits my hand to a tee..and as it turns out the balance, weight and feel are perfect.... next is finding the right pick up combination that compliment the tone of the guitar.. having mucked around a bit I found a couple of German handmade "Klein" singles and a Dimarzio "Liquifer" in the bridge... Then I usually disassemble the whole thing and do the arty/ distressing stuff you've seen me do on my other "Roadkill" and "Shipwreck" instruments.... but this time I didn't want to change a thing. I only wish I owned this guitar when I was gigging........PS I made the scratchplate and I think it's quite fetching...... AND!!! Stop press, I'm doing a demo tomorrow, but with a twist...as mentioned in the intro, My first real band was called "Stockade and at the ripe old age of 16 we did our own gigs at the Nundah memorial. When someone says "let's get the band back together" I snicker, however I loved this band more than any other and my friend and singer Tom Garland and i have been talking. So to show him I still have the chops I'm going to do an overture of songs we played back then and you never know..... can't wait! See more

19.01.2022 I always love putting the finishing touches on my Roadkill guitars so i hope you don't mind the pic overload, but I'm really proud of this one.... Seymour Duncan in the bridge and a Tonrider in the neck. American Ash body (she's a hefty 4.7kg's) and a slinky neck given to me by Ben .. thank you Mr Schardt. I made the Torty scratch plate and the Girlie decal... which is one of my favourite works by Alberto Varga......I'm still doing the final work up which will include a re fret with jumbo's and final set up.. She's 1500.00 inc case PS there is a short demo of this baby at the end of my Les Paul Demo, Hope you like

16.01.2022 This is Client J's GPa's 50's Levin, which, as you can see had an accident many years ago and ended up under the bed but not before some well meaning budding repairer made a valiant attempt at fixing it, so we also have a lot of old glue to be removed... will completed work when finished

14.01.2022 This is one lovely guitar with massive paint peeling balls.... Helter Skelter could have been recorded on this guitar.......This is a 1987 Ricki 610 reeks and it rock n roll.... just look at that crazing.... A lot of love has been poured into this git, both by the previous owner/s and ourselves.... I used to have a lefty 610 which I loved, however I sold it to Keir Nuttall a few years ago.... hope he still has it, I might get sentimental and want it back 1900.00 inc orig. case SHE'S Sold!

13.01.2022 So after the last incredibly informative ( not to mention, fascinating) post I thought I'd change it up a gear with this.... last week a lovely lady sold me her 2007 Mexi Strat in pretty amazing condition and virtually unplayed..... all of that said, it was the resonance and the slinky neck that was the decider.... I decided to do away with the factory white guard, pick up covers etc and go with a vintage mint/ aged parchment arrangement instead... I think it looks quite fetching.... all fret dressed and set up with 10-46 Elixir's 675.00

13.01.2022 A few weeks ago another cool geetar darkened out doorstep and we just had to buy it... there's a lot to do here.... complete disassembly and re build... The tailpiece was added on as was the bridge. This old girl was originally built to be a trad pin bridge style and that's where she's heading.... I know this is an old 30/40's Harmony however, who amongst my historians out there can tell me more?.... price TBA

10.01.2022 Man Alive! you guys are soooo great, thank you thank you thank you. Your support and love is humbling.... one day on and I feel like yesterday's blowing off of steam was more of a hissy fit.... but still....I'm not sorry to call a spade a spade.... Special mention to Mr Deano Magic Morgan, Frank Abernethy and Vincent Clout for helping to re balance the books on Google Reviews with heartfelt words, especially you Deano, that must have taken a bit of thought, really amazing... now how's about we get on with the show

07.01.2022 and the good stuff just keeps on a comin'.... This is what happens if we have a body and neck and some inspiration..... Dave Leddin just loves his japanese guitar parts.... he's sick, it's not his fault, however, very often he sells me a leftover carcus and I upcycle it into hopefully something interesting.... This is a heavily modded Guyatone ( hope that's right) Mosrite copy.....we'll never recoup the money spent on this guitar..... re fretted with jumbo frets. a WSC P90 in back and a Dan Armstrong jazz in the neck... I've also wired the pick ups out of phase just to add to the overall lo fi vibe... Wilkinson tuners and a genuine Rickenbacker bridge. oh yes! that's right, the body is made of "select timbers"....plywood... perfect for getting out of bother 749.00 that's got to be right up someone's alley

05.01.2022 We have a new vintage guitar procurer... thank you so much Shane Fell, you definitely know what we like.........So here's a few of Shane's finds that we've subsequently purchased.... Firstly is this Jumbo Bodied Stella.... Just look at this baby.... big body, 12 fret neck join.... I can't wait to see this baby after Andre's done his magic..... I'm thinking Leadbelly.. even though she's not a 12 string.....

05.01.2022 the multi faceted tone control gives so much tonality

04.01.2022 ,I've been meaning to post this little baby forever.... some of you would have watched my demo that included a pretty Left Hand '75 Telecaster all original bar a replaced switch ( i also have the original)... such a beauty...If I can make her sound good, then any mutant can.... Slinky neck, original low profile frets that feel amazing... I never expected that to be honest, but she's so slick to play I would leave things just as they are... I know that many peeps think that tele neck pick ups are weak and muddy.... think again my fine feathered friend, The neck pick up is soooo soulful..... enough, here's the pics 5500.00 inc. case

03.01.2022 And it all just gets weirder.... My old friend Keir Nuttall sent me a pic of him playing the at a gig old girl with his band "Transport" in early 2000's ?... it's all a blur....For those of you that may not be fimiliar with Keir's work, I'll give you a hint, he is hubbie and writing partner of one of this country's national treasures.... She's beautiful, she's blond, has a voice of an angel; once heard never forgotten and doesn't mind standing on unstable foundations at Eurovision's

03.01.2022 Converting my strat to rightie for my dear friend Stingray .... "Would you like Fries with that?

02.01.2022 " intros and hooks........As promised comrades, please enjoy watching me crucify your 70's favourites on my new steed as I walk through the repetoire of my High school band "stockade"Big shout out to Tom Garland for the inspiration https://youtu.be/0DQ533BPXnk

02.01.2022 please excuse my sloppy playing, but I think I got the point across... at least I hope I did

02.01.2022 Hi Folks, May I have a bitch?....good!, then I shall continue... No small business person likes getting a shitty google review, or any shitty review for that matter, however shit happens and things do go pear shaped, all part of the human condition I suppose, however when someone writes said review under the non de plume of say.... "John Smith" I get really peeved... if your going to vent your spleen Tom Spalding at least have the balls to own it and yes I'm calling you out Tom, ... You definitely get an "E" for effort for taking the time to do that review, must have taken hours... it's just a shame that it's a biased and incomplete telling of the story... OK! thanks for reading.... I feel dirty now... but there it is

02.01.2022 I love a good news story, especially in these challenging times. Put Simply, John brought his Rickenbacker in a few months ago as it was in need of major repair work on the neck, and by this I mean removal of the finger board, truss rod/s re set, re fret and re finish etc etc..given the gravity and expense of this job, John decided to sell us the guitar instead... forward wind 6 months and finally the job is done... and what an outcome... This is simply one of the best Ricki's ever... super resonant and lots of natural beef and great string balance.....so why is this a good news story? well, one of John's best friends is Gerard,..... when he got wind of the bass being in our posession he took it upon himself to buy it back for John......That's why this is a good news story.... Love this pic too

01.01.2022 Leigh Iv, Herr Waller, and any of the other 5 peeps in the world that could honestly give a monkees... here's the tone expander circuit

01.01.2022 Life is not complete unless you have a Bigsby T style in your arsenal.....or two..... specs Bridge pick up. whopping 12.3K bridge pick up! don't know the brand... looks American and old.. I potted it to reduce mirophonics Neck Pick up.... 90's USA Std, one of the best I've tested Body. light swamp ash... Neck. east indian rosewood on rock maple w/ jumbo frets Tailpiece. Bigsby Bridge Gotoh ( all metal components aged in house) Tuners Gotoh "kluson" style Definitely doing a demo of this one..... It may not be "Old Black" but this demo will be very Neil Young and Crazy Horse inspired.... " look out mama there's a wide boat....." 1750.00 inc case
