02.01.2022 I often get asked How did a city girl end up in the outback? The truth is I only ended up in Croydon because I was nearly broke $$. My best friend Rio and I j...ust completed a 6 week trip of a lifetime travelling the east coast of Australia and desperately needed work. We got offered a job at The Croydon Club Hotel which consisted of bar work and housekeeping. We couldn’t afford to be picky at this stage and the fact that we managed to get a job together was a massive bonus. I remember arriving in Croydon June 2016, stepping off the bus looking around at this dry, dusty, deserted little town and thinking wow what have we signed up to. It got worse before it got better my first shift housekeeping I broke all my nails changing bed sheets after growing them for weeks! I remember thinking omg I can’t do this, but oh how things quickly changed. I toughen up for starters haha It was a massive eye opener for me and I ended up falling in love with this beautiful little town. I made friends with the locals, got to visit cattle stations, held the Melbourne cup, drank a lot of Bundy rum and honestly had the most amazing outback experience. Croydon became my little home away from home and I ended up coming back to work here again in 2017 after traveling the Northern Territory, Bali and Thailand. Little did I know I would end up meeting my partner that year and now we live on a cattle station just 80km out of Croydon. It’s crazy how things work out and I’m pretty proud of myself for how I’ve grown and adapted to this lifestyle. I’ve gone from nearly having a break down over broken nails to completing my first muster in 40 degree heat. Who would have thought it? Not me that’s for sure. P.s I still enjoy a mani & pedi when i get the chance . . . . . #outbacklife #outbackqueensland #rural #ruralphotography #travel #travelphotography #stationlife #cattlestation #traveloutbackaustralia #thisisqueensland #citygirl #travelblogger #carpenteria #abcmyphoto #croydonqld #farnorthqueensland #straya #australia #aussieag #agriculture #backpacker #proud #homeawayfromhome #gulfcountry
01.01.2022 STUNNING MORNING GLORY CLOUD IN THE GULF It's that time of year again! But here's a perspective we haven't seen before This photo was captured using a ...drone by Michael Pride on board Austral Fisheries vessel, Kodiak T. The Kodiak is out catching tiger prawns in the Gulf of Carpentaria, and the stars aligned this week for this fantastic shot! "This is nature at its finest. It's amazing watching her roll in from the horizon then fly over the boat with an instant weather change and fly on by as if she was never there," Mr Pride said. "I've been wanting to get this shot ever since I got a drone but the cookies never crumbled in my direction. "Yesterday the clouds aligned and the Kodiak was right in her path." : Michael Pride | Austral Fisheries
