22.01.2022 Is Anyone More Inspiring Than Christine Vachon? If someone had told me you could run an indie production company for 25 years, always only doing movies you love..., and loving only bold films, I would have entered this business with confidence and hope! Damn, she's good! As is are the folks like Pam & David and everyone else whom she collaborates with. https://variety.com//killer-films-celebrates-25-years-exe/

21.01.2022 Could Everyone Agree On The Truths About What The Film Business Is? No. That won't happen. But wouldn't it be great if we could? It's like bringing peace to the... Middle East or solving Los Angeles' traffic issues, it is a nice dream but not likely to happen. But on the other hand, filmmakers, like artists and entrepreneurs, aren't ones to let reality to get in the way of their passion, and I think we can demonstrate that we could make our industry work a whole lot better for everybody if we could just agree on some tenets. Now, first, perhaps as an example of why this is likely an impossible endeavor, I have to acknowledge that listing or building a process' tenets is very "Amazonian". It was something I actually loved about working there. The act of observing the components of what we do and what the factors that influence them is also very "Ted". I find it very relaxing to approximate what the whole of something is and be sure I am not mistaking the trees for the forest. I guess I also have to confess that although I tried several times while I was at Amazon to get others on the film team to work with me in defining general truths about the film business, but no one other than me seemed to think it was necessary. So why do I think it is necessary to define truths about the film business? Because we mean SO many different things when we say "Film Business". We communicate poorly, believing we are in agreement, when we probably couldn't be less so. Want to work with me to define the truths about our business? I am going to try to undertake that here in the days ahead.

05.01.2022 "... Chinese schoolchildren are raised on the history of humiliation: how China was exploited by foreign powers from the mid-18th century. They are told it was the Communist Party that restored the nation's honour when Mao Zedong declared the Communist revolution. Xi Jinping the most powerful Chinese leader since Mao vows to complete the great rejuvenation of China, to restore it to the apex of global power. The Chinese have a saying: "If you wish to know the mind of a ma...n, listen to his words." In 2013, not long after taking power, Xi warned the Party leadership that "hostile forces at home and abroad constantly try to undermine our Party".
