23.01.2022 If you have two hours spare once or twice a month why not join the wonderful group of volunteers at the Gulgong Gold Experience. It is really host/hostess work greeting guests as they come in to the experience and explain all the exhibits. It is easy work and we will train you until you are confident. 22.01.2022 If you have two hours once or twice a month and you enjoy meeting people from all over the world...why not volunteer at the Gulgong Gold Experience. The gold panning has become so popular that over the Easter break it was hard to keep up with the amount of people wanting to pan. It is really a great way to get out and meet people and you will find our volunteers the greatest bunch of people all enjoying their time at the mine. If you are interested give me a call. 22.01.2022 I hope everyone is safe and well in this unpredictable time. We are watching the news very carefully and hope it wont be too long until we can open the Gulgong Gold Experience again. Just to keep you updated on our progress in the meanwhile. We were lucky enough to receive a $10,000 grant to beautify Red Hill. This funding will allow us to plant 200 trees, shrubs and grasses on the hill. We are also going to plant a box woodland to encourage the Regent Honeyeater which is be...coming extinct. Luckily there have been sighting of this little bird on Red Hill so we are going to plant their natural habitat along with some nesting boxes to encourage the continuation of the species. With winter and frosts upon us it was decided to postpone the work until September. One of the conditions of the funding is that the work must be completed by October. We are currently in the running for $150,000 to be announced in June and the Council will match this amount. This will allow the restoration of the cottage, the installation of a commercial kitchen, renovation of the bathroom within the cottage for dining guests and the construction of two unisex toilets outside next to the cottage. Once renovated the cottage will become "The Miners Cottage Tea Rooms", Information Centre and gift shop. Further funding will allow the construction of an exhibition centre which will show off old trades such as whip making, spinning, blacksmith etc. A childrens playground will also be constructed and a billabong where the panner can get the true experience of gold panning. Although everything is at a standstill at the moment it wont be for too much longer (we hope). I will do updates to let you know how we are going and when we hope to reopen. 21.01.2022 Anyone out there interested in helping with panning activities and gold rush history at the Gulgong Gold Experience . It is easy volunteer work and so rewarding, Only a 2 1/2 hour shift monthly or more if you wish. Please contact Maureen 0458487706 if you are interested you must be prepared to apply for a working with children certificate which is easy to process and we can assist with your application.

This should make Gulgongites feel proud of their town with glowing reports like this Reviewed yesterday via mobile A great family activity - fun and educational... My daughter and I loved our visit to Gulgong Gold Experience! Gulgong was such a cute little town and the gold experience was a highlight. The volunteers were extremely welcoming and my daughter absolutely loved finding her own gems and "gold" at the panning activity. Walking through the tunnel and seeing samples of gold, plus learning some history, was great too.The surrounding grounds were tidy, well maintained and lovely to wander around. See more

16.01.2022 It has been just over two weeks since we took over the coordination of the Gulgong Gold Experience and it is all very exciting. We now have Eftpos facilities which will make life so much easier. We are in the process of producing a Masterplan for the ongoing growth of the facility. This includes the renovation of the cottage which will be used for tea rooms, souvenir and gift shop and also for general information. We will keep you updated on the developement of the Masterplan. Funding has been received by Council to develop a bus and visitor parking area on the other side of White Street opposite the cottage. We hope to meet as many of you as possible when you visit the facility.....Joy Harrison

10.01.2022 The school holidays are almost upon us. If you are looking for something to entertain the kids during the holidays why not bring them out to Gulgong and let them try their hand at gold panning. Not only will they have fun and an educational experience they will also find some real gems to take home. There is also a small card in the bag that tells them what each gem is. We are open every day in the holidays from 10-3pm and for a cost of $8.00 for kids that includes entry and the rent of the gold pan and their little bag of treasures. $5.00 for entry for adults plus $5 if adults want to pan. $15.00 for families. 08.01.2022 Gulgong Gold Experience will be closed this Friday 6th December 2019 out of respect for our valued "panner" Bill Ryan who passed away last Friday. His funeral is on Friday. Many people have commented on how good Bill was with people especially the children and his patience showing them how to pan for gold. Bill will be sadly missed by all the volunteers. RIP Bill.

01.01.2022 Next Easter long weekend Gulgong will celebrate 150 years since Gold was found on Red Hill. The Back to Gulgong 150 year celebration committee are hard at work organising what will be a fabulous weekend for all and of course the weekend will focus on Red Hill the start of it all. PRELIMINARY PROGRAM FRIDAY 10TH APRIL 2020... 1.00PM GULGONG TENNIS CLUB will hold an Old Fashioned Tennis Match with clothing and rackets appropriate to the 1870s. There will be Old Time Games and a continuing afternoon tea for all. SATURDAY 11TH APRIL 2020 10.00AM RED HILL will be the focus of the days events. All Day: Market Stalls, Jumping Castle, Music, Stage Coach Rides, Food Stalls, Face Painting, childrens games, Puppet Shows. Easter Egg Hunt 1pm-2pm The Town Stroll will take place, please gather at Red Hill. 2pm 3.15pm Old Times Races will take place such as Egg and Spoon Race, Three Legged Race and Sack Races. There will be prizes for the winners. The Gulgong Gift a footrace for the young men with trophy for winner. The Old Buffers Race with a trophy for winner The Old Boilers Race also with a trophy for winner 3.15pm The Time Capsule will be opened. There will be a registration table for those interested in putting something back in the capsule to be closed again for another 25 years. 4.15pm to 5.15pm The Red Hill School will be open for inspection 5.15pm there will be a BBQ for all those there 6.00pm The day will close with a Fireworks Display 7.00pm The MAD Society will have a performance at the Prince of Wales Opera House SUNDAY 12th APRIL 2020 6.30PM for 7.00PM: The Grand Colonial Ball will be held at the Gulgong RSL Club. Pre-purchased tickets will be available closer to the time. As this is only the first draft of the Preliminary Program it will at least give you an idea of the activities for the weekend. This will be updated as needed at our future meetings. Be sure to keep the days free and come and join in the celebrations.
