24.01.2022 In an effort to assist our community with access services we will be focusing on medication management with our patients. We will be encouraging our patients to check their prescriptions to ensure that that have enough repeats to carry them through the holiday season. A great way to avoid the last minute anxiety of realising you have just taken your last tablet without a new prescription is to rebook prior to leaving the clinic.... Our local pharmacy are exceptional reminding patients that they are on their last repeat, so when you get this reminder on your medication box call the clinic to rebook on the same day, as we all forget when life is so busy. Being more proactive in managing your prescriptions assists us with holding over our urgent on the day appointments for people who are unwell.

06.01.2022 NEW PATIENTS Since March when we farewelled Dr Shagi home to be with his family and the COVID pandemic unfolded GMC has had limited capacity to provide services to ‘new’ patients. However we have been working to find a solution to what we understand to be a huge frustration for both new and existing residents in our community. From today we will be accepting new patients, if you live in the 2852 postcode and do not have a regular GP.... Initial consultations are $70 out of pocket expense and after that we are a bulk billing clinic. So please if you genuinely need a GP or you are acutely unwell we will accomodate your the best we can, we just ask that the community is mindful that with current service limitations, due to COVID and being back to 2 Doctors at present, that this service is not abused in order for us to provide care to the Gulgong community. For example ‘go to Gulgong you don’t have to pay’ or ‘I have a regular GP in Mudgee I just need a script and can’t see them for two weeks’ We believe in continuity of care and seeing a Doctor who has never met you, nor has any medical history for you, for a 10 minute appointment when you have a complicated condition is not in the best interest of any patient or Doctor for that matter. All Doctors and healthcare professionals have a duty of care and responsibility to provide quality care to our patients. This is only achieved when both the patient and the Doctor have the information they need to make informed decisions about care. Any questions regarding new patients can be forwarded to [email protected]

06.01.2022 It has become evident that there is a lot of confusion in the community regarding the state of our current health care services. Gulgong Medical Centre has been contracted to Western New South Wales Local Health District to provide oncall/Visiting Medical Officers (VMO) to Gulgong MPS for many years. Unfortunately after months of negotiation, this contract has not been renewed. In response to this GMC are looking at ways to adapt our services that we provide in the clinic. While the clinic has obvious limitations such as hours of operation we remain committed to improving our service and providing the community with quality health care within our constraints. We appreciate your cooperation during this uncertain time and will make every effort to keep you informed into the future.

05.01.2022 Please be advised that the medical centre will be closed today for staff to attend training.

05.01.2022 GMC are currently seeking to employ a CASUAL RECEPTIONIST to join our team. Ideally we are looking to employ someone locally prior to advertising elsewhere. Good computer literacy, phone manner and communication skills are essential. The applicant will be required to work some Saturday shifts and occasional evening hours. Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of practice software would be highly regarded although not essential. Training and support will be provi...ded to the selected candidate. If you are a responsible, enthusiastic, reliable person and think this position may be for you or for someone you know please forward your resume to [email protected] or contact us here in the clinic on 02 6374 1104. Applications close COB 22/12/2020.

04.01.2022 WAIT TIMES No one likes to wait.....unfortunately often this is the case in the clinic. While there are a number of reasons this happens one of the most common reasons we have for increased wait times is prolonged appointments booked in standard appointment times. How does this happen you might ask?? When patients come to the Dr for a standard appointment and has more than one issue that they request to deal with the appointment runs late. 5-10 minutes late for each patient ...in the morning means an hour+ wait for the patients booked later in the day and no break for the Doctors. This also happens when a patient comes for their booked appointment and request that the people attending that appointment with them are also seen by the Dr during their consult. While we are aware that this is extremely frustrating, we do try our best to manage these delays, if you have appointments elsewhere, children to pick etc can you please advise the reception staff and we can try to best manage your appointment around your commitments. Please be mindful that while we are all quick to blame the Doctors for running late it would be appreciated if our patients can consider others and be mindful of the time they spend with the Doctors to ensure that their appointment is as efficient and effective as possible. If this means that you require a longer appointment to address your needs, please request one at time of booking or rebook to discuss issues further. We are committed to providing the best quality care we can and would appreciate your consideration with this matter for the sake of our patients as well as our staff.
