25.01.2022 Deputy Consul General Klaus Steitz visited the planned site for the Gulgong Holtermann Museum. He was charmed by the well preserved old buildings in the city ce...ntre of Gulgong/NSW and very impressed by the dedication and enthusiasm of those citizens who are working on the museum project. Two of the historic buildings, THE GREATEST WONDER OF THE WORLD and THE AMERICAN TOBACCO WAREHOUSE & FANCY GOODS EMPORIUM will house the new Holtermann museum with exhibits of parts of the renowned Holtermann collection housed in the The State Library of New South Wales, which were recently inscribed into the UNESCO Australian Memory of the World Register. The collection consists of photographs of Gulgong taken by photographer Henry Beaufoy Merlin and his assistant Charles Bayliss in 1872 and later purchased by the wealthy German miner Bernhardt Otto Holtermann. The Consulate General will support the museum financially. The opening is planned for 26th October, 2019. Photos Gulgong Holtermann Museum #gulgongholtermannmuseum See more

25.01.2022 Grand opening of the new Gulgong Holtermann Museum last Saturday by Australian legend Thomas Keneally! The Museum keeps alive the memory of German-born Bernhard...t Holtermann who is equally known for finding one of the biggest gold nuggets ever in Hill End in 1872 and for his passion for photography. The Consulate General provided audio-visual equipment for displaying digitized photos from the Holtermann collection of the NSW State Library and is proud to be part of the project. Congratulations to all those who contributed to make the Museum possible. Photos (c) Frauke Silberberg Gulgong Holtermann Museum #gulgongholtermann #holtermannmuseum See more

25.01.2022 Call for Halls to apply Community Halls around regional and rural NSW and parts of southern Queensland could be eligible to receive a little extra support with the launch of the Essential Energy Community Halls Program. The Community Halls Program, which has been running for around 10 years, recognises that Community Halls are often the heart of a local community and provide a place for people to come together. This is part of what we do to help the local communities that w...e operate in, said Manager Community Relations Northern, David Crough. Previous recipients have told us that this money has helped their halls continue to play an important role in their local communities. With many in our community doing it tough this year with drought and then fires, these halls are as important as ever, and we really encourage all eligible Community Halls to apply. In addition, this year Essential Energy is asking for any Community Halls that may have been damaged by bushfires to apply for consideration for additional support. Hall representatives can apply for the $200 payment online at www.essentialenergy.com.au/web-f/community-hall-application or by contacting us on 13 23 91. Applications close 5pm, Friday March 20, 2020. FACT FILE: Essential Energy builds, operates and maintains one of Australias largest electricity distribution networks, servicing 855,000 customers across regional, rural and remote NSW. Our footprint covers 95 percent of NSW, traversing 737,000 square kilometres of landmass with 183,612 km of powerline, 163,417 of those in designated bushfire zones. The network services more than 855,000 customers with approximately 4.6 customers to each kilometre of powerline, which is almost one-tenth the customer density compared with our counterparts in NSW. Essential Energys footprint also includes 1.38 million power poles, equating to 1.6 power poles per customer. Essential Energy is proud to be the 2019 winner of the Australian Apprentices Employer Award.
24.01.2022 Children and adults in wheelchairs can now experience the joy of being pushed on a swing at the park with Council installing a Liberty Swing in Robertson Park M...udgee. A world-first Australian design, the Liberty Swing provides those in wheelchairs, the elderly and those with disabilities the chance to swing. Local father Bill Murphy submitted a Community Plan Proposal for the swing after discovering the purpose designed piece of equipment in another area whilst on a family holiday with daughter Georgia who is in a wheelchair. This gives Georgia the opportunity to swing like everyone else, Mr Murphy said. It gives her that freedom you cant normally have in a wheelchair and its not just for people in a wheelchair but for the elderly and people with autism. This is a much needed piece of equipment, which is one of the reasons I have petitioned so hard to get it, and I know it will be well used. I would like to say a big thank you to Council, particularly from Georgia. The Robertson Park Liberty Swing will open to the public tomorrow, Wednesday 8 July. An access key is available from Councils Customer Service Centre or Mudgee Region Tourism, both on Market Street. The swing is also accessible with an MLAK key for those residents who have their own. Shade sail is due to be installed over the structure later this year. 11.01.2022 If whoever did this did it for a laugh then please return the sign. These signs are paid for by us, the rate payers, so it will be very disappointing if it is not returned. I have heard it suggested that it must have been a Gulgong resident, as only someone from Gulgong would want a Gulgong sign. If it was, please do the right thing and put it back.
08.01.2022 Good morning Gulgong, can anyone tell me who organised the Christmas light competition last year. Would like to organise some prizes and help celebrate Christmas. Thanks everyone
