18.01.2022 Meet Rebecca, our leading lady. Shes Bec to us and an absolute superstar boss and amazing single mum to Gypsy. Shes an inspiration to the team so this is why I decided that a Q&A session was in order to find out what makes this mumpreneur tick. This is the first in a series.... 1. What did you do before starting your business?... After completing a Business Degree at Curtin Uni, my first job was at Peters & Brownes Group. A few years later I embarked on an exciting overseas adventure where I spent 12 years working in varied marketing, special projects and logistics roles in Tokyo and London. My London stint ended abruptly when I had my heart broken. My next adventure led me to Mexico to do voluntary work and Oaxaca became my home for the next 12 months. I managed a shelter for street children and developed a program to track and monitor the children, their families and their progress. I understand that it is still being used today which is something I am extremely proud of. There were 400 children living in the shelter and I managed to add another 200 children with the new program. I also studied at the University of Havana to fine-tune my Spanish for four months before returning to Perth to run Save the Children WA for a few years 2. Tell me about your first entrepreneurial venture: How did you come up with the idea? It all began when I was an employee at Executive Step International Locations in 2004. It was owned by Michel Polak at the time and when her husband was transferred away, she said: buy this so I did! I mortgaged my house, bought a nice car and a dog and settled into what was to be a wave of excitement for the next 10 years. In 2014 @beckandcallpropertygroup officially launched, as a result of all of the requests we were receiving to manage properties. I hope you enjoyed the first Q&A with Bec and stay tuned for the next. In the meantime stop by the office in Leederville to say hi. FYI: jokes, coffee or chocolates will get a rowdy welcome reception anytime!
