24.01.2022 We would like to remind you that Gunyangara is closed to visitors until further notice due to Covid 19 biosecurity restrictions. This includes access to the Catalina boat ramp. We would also like to take this opportunity to confirm that Gunyangara is NOT part of the Dhimurru Recreational area and the General Permit doesn't grant you permission to access the island under any other circumstances. We ask everyone to be doubly respectful during these trying times. Thank you!

16.01.2022 Position Vacant :Security Guard Ideally this role is for a professional security guard to protect our premises and assets in the Gunyangara community with the goal of maintaining a high visibility presence in the community and deterring illegal and inappropriate actions against property within Gunyangara and surrounds. Key responsibilities will include:... Protect Gumatj’s property by maintaining a safe and secure environment Observe for signs of crime and disorder, deter such behaviour and report in detail any suspicious incidents Patrol key major assets and buildings in Gunyangara and surrounds, as well as random patrols of other buildings and operations in the area Monitor and control access to buildings after hours Monitor alarm systems and operate detecting/emergency equipment Ideally you must have the following skills: Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position Appropriate qualifications Current drivers licence The following skills are also desirable: Current first aid Knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols Ability to work with minimal supervision This role will be for an initial period of 3 months on a full time basis. Hours of work will primarily be between 9pm and 3am. Days of work will include both week days and weekends, with flexibility to agree your preferred days of work. Wages are negotiable on experience. 12.01.2022 Gumatj COVID 19 We are closely monitoring the situation and following the directives and advice of the Northern Territory Government, Australian Government and the Department of Health as well as respecting the wishes of our Traditional Owners. We wish to advise that all non-essential service provider visits and visitors to Gunyangara island are now restricted.... As of today, March 19th, we have implemented the following: * Restricted access to the island * Postponed all gatherings and events * Held information sessions for our community * Met with all our commercial land users to discuss preventive measures * Installed multiple hand sanitisation stations at all our places of business Essential Services, are services required to keep a community operating (for example, medical professionals, teachers, and maintenance workers). Accountability Ensure high level of leadership in safety standards and procedures for mine operations. Execute mine production plans in a safe and cost-effective manner to ensure targeted quantities are consistently delivered. Allocation of operational resources and directing work of operator/trainers and trainees. Monitor individual personnel and trainee performance and behaviour. When required initiate timely positive reinforcement/recognition or disciplinary action to correct. Ensure obligations as defined in the Gulkula MMP are executed emissions to air, water & lands controlled, hazardous materials and waste materials, raw material usage, noise control and land management/rehabilitation are managed as per MMP requirements. Fulfil health & safety obligations as defined in Northern Territory Workplace Health and Safety Act and Gulkula Mine HSE Policy. Ensure training needs analysis is undertaken for all trainees and employees of Gulkula Mine and are documented through a training matrix. This is a "hands-on" position to effectively manage the Waste Disposal Facility in compliance with the requirements as is set out in the Position Description.... Execute necessary precautions to ensure safety and compliance with Company OHS, Environmental and other relevant standards. Ensuring compliance with current legislation in the handling and disposal of waste. Provide advice and information to management and members of staff on all aspects associated with the provision of waste and recycling. Good communication and skills to train, mentor and work with Indigenous employees. Ensure provision of appropriate resource-recovery facilities, in good working order for items such as heavy and light scrap steel, non-ferrous metals, timber, organic material, rubble and concrete waste.
