25.01.2022 please everyone keep sharing so i can bring my baby home

25.01.2022 "Did someone say bottle time?" Bente, getting more and more curious she likes to be kept in the loop.

25.01.2022 Sunrise at the sanctuary as we head off to Port Germein Foreshore Market this morning. Its going to be a scorcher so no animals, but come down early and beat the heat. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #fundraising #marketday #stopandcheck #australia

25.01.2022 All set up at the Port Pirie Producers market. We have such a huge variety of products for sale to raise funds for the Sanctuary (which are all available on our website for those that can't make it down) plus of course we have some babies for you to meet

25.01.2022 Due to the extreme heat on Sunday, the Snowtown market will be starting at 7:30am and running until 1pm. We will be there but there will be no animals with us.

25.01.2022 HOORAY, HOORAY! The Kadina Rotary Market is on this Saturday 28th, 8.30-12.30pm. HOORAY, HOORAY! The Kadina Rotary Market is on this Saturday 28th, 8.30-12.30pm.

24.01.2022 Even with everything that went on yesterday, we still went to collect this beautiful little grey girl from some beautiful local friends. They have named her Bronty and she will be going to the vet at 1130 today because she is paralysed from the waist down. Fingers crossed we can save her.

24.01.2022 Meet Jojo the 531g Western grey boy. His mum was unfortunately hit by a car but they #stopandcheck and found Jojo. He was kept warm and brought straight to us. He is in great condition and his eyes are just starting to open. He stands a good chance, but anything can happen. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #australia #pinkiekangaroo #pinkies #stopandcheck #sponsoraroo

24.01.2022 Due to bloody stupid people not obeying the rules, Peterborough market on Saturday AND Port Germein Foreshore Market on Sunday have been canceled. As a result i will keep the online market running and get everything up on the website (www.gumbyskangaroosanctuary.com.au) in the next 24 hours.

23.01.2022 All set up at the Broughton Seaside Markets on the foreshore. The weather is beautiful albeit a bit breezy so come and say hello. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #wildlife #sanctuarylife #babykangaroo #rescue #notjustkangaroos #Australia #fundraising #sponsor-a-roo #westerngrey #redkangaroo #stopandcheck #marketday #newproducts #bloodyeuros

23.01.2022 The Broughton Seaside Markets have had a date change due to the weather, now on Monday 5th from 10am - 2pm. We will still be there so come on down and say hello

21.01.2022 Gumby's Kangaroo and Wildlife Sanctuary will be at the Port Pirie Producers market tomorrow. We will have a slightly smaller scale than usual due to Andrew recovering from surgery, but we will have our fund-raising items there. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #australia #stopandcheck #fundraising #resinart #marketday #sponsoraroo

21.01.2022 This isn't my tail, but I will groom it for Karen anyway". This is Nicole, one of our smaller kids inside. We often find her and Karen sharing their bags together. A sense of closeness and security. Nicole is a Euro, Macropus Robustus or Common Wallaroo.

20.01.2022 We will be in Adelaide for the next week or so after Andrews surgery, but we can still be contacted for rescues as we have a qualified carer looking after the sanctuary for us

20.01.2022 Looking for something to do on Sunday??? Why not come out to the first Snowtown Community Market with over 50 stalls, it should be a great day

20.01.2022 This is what we call synchronised looking the Euro way. Desi on the left and Eve. No relation, from different areas of the Flinders Ranges they are almost twins. People ask us, "how do you tell them apart?". We are watching them every day, coat changes colour and features appear to change sometimes. It is something we must do, so we know who is who in our mob of misfits. All have different personality traits and behavior patterns, just like us. Subtle indicators are our way of watching, common behaviors, a shift in demeanor or mob dynamic, we are willing participants in their lives as they are ours. Family.

19.01.2022 Little bit of love for the weekend, Emma with her baby Bianca. The bond between Mother and her baby is strong and lasting. This grooming and cleaning is a daily occurrence, sharing this time helps Bianca know she is in a safe place and that her Mum is always there for her. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #australia #rescue #redkangaroo #family #stopandcheck #home #animalsofinstagram #kangaroosanctuary #reassuance #love

19.01.2022 Resin kangaroo keyrings, this is all I have. They would make great stocking suffers. Large $5 Small $3 Postage $4 can fit all in one pack so buy as many as you like for one postage rate... #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #wildlife #sanctuarylife #babykangaroo #rescue #notjustkangaroos #Australia #fundraising #sponsor-a-roo #stopandcheck

19.01.2022 Something a little different. Are you looking for some stocking stuffers? Well i have done the whole thing for you. These santa and reindeer boots (only 3 santa and 6 reindeer) have already been filled with 2 x christmas ornaments (one ceramic one handmade sanctuary one) a drinking glass (plastic) 2x Christmas pencils and erasers, a sanctuary fridge magnet, some slime, a funny walking santa, elf or reindeer (random) a reindeer lollipop holder with chuppa chup, a candy cane an...d a box of chocolate coated biscuits. The boots are 40cm high x 20cm wide x 20cm deep so are quite large. They are $40 each (over $60 worth od stuff in there) and can post in a box at buyers expense, or I can deliver locally. These are all i have THERE WILL BE NO MORE!!!!

19.01.2022 Really crappy little video because it's hard to feed and video at the same time, but this is a 19 day old Indian Ring Neck parrot I am hand rearing

18.01.2022 26 days old and it likes to have a wander after a feed, much to Gizmo's disgust #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #stopandcheck #babykangaroo #kangaroo #notjustkangaroos #indianringneck

18.01.2022 I'm going to be pushing the $1 a week campaign hard for the foreseeable future, with nearly 3000 page likes, we should be able to come up with a couple of hundred dollars a week to help cover the cost of feeding these guys. The charity has lost approx $200 - $300 à week income from market sales since covid19 and its going to become increasingly difficult to finance the place from our personal funds as well as do all the normal things families need to do. So please if you can spare $1 a week it would mean the world to us. (all money raised goes to the animals) and please share, share, share #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #wildlife #sanctuarylife #babykangaroo #rescue #notjustkangaroos #fundraising #Australia #registeredcharity

17.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that shared my post about gizmo he is now home safe

17.01.2022 New kids on the block, in the day yard. These are four of five recently made the transition from inside, from front we have Bill then Siggy, Jolene and Bea with her white spot, Julian the fifth is hanging somewhere else. A shaded spot when it's 38% C is what we all need, this is a small area designed for a safety spot for the smallest when there are big birds of prey around in the skies, among several areas we have created to let them have various places to choose from.

16.01.2022 We had a visitor today, Darren Zint from Australiart, you will remember him as one of our mob member's savior, Jason was rescued as a pinky boy, way north in South Australia at Glendambo, a roadside rescue Darren did the #stopandcheck and found him, all alone and very frightened. Often Darren and his partner Rui come and say hello, and to see Jason, as you can see he's a big Kangaroo boy now at around 25kg. Like all our rescuers Darren is a part of the place. Darren has con...tact with some of the Aboriginal, First Nations People artists in and around Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. He supplies all materials for the artist and buys them directly from them, providing some extra income for the families. Some of the artists are world renowned, such beautiful work, have a look if you're like us and appreciate the stories these unique pieces bring into life, fascinating stories really our lands culture and history before settlement. See more

16.01.2022 We will be at the Port Pirie Producers Market on Sunday, so so come and say hello. You might also find something for yourself or Christmas presents

16.01.2022 Can everyone on our page please keep a look out for my lost eclectus parrot gizmo please, he went missing in saddleworth. He is extremely tame, talks and will step up. He will bite if you try to pat him but he will happily sit on you without biting. He is my baby and I am devastated. We are offering a $100 reward for his safe return. Please share this far and wide so we can get my baby back.

16.01.2022 Sampson aka Troublemaker, one of our senior Kangaroos now at 7 years old. His nickname is as a result of his cheeky behavior as a young boy, always wanted to box and play. His main interest now is sleeping, eating and the occasional play with the others. Such a sweet demeanor and one of our best friends.

16.01.2022 With Christmas just around the corner, why not take a piece of the Sanctuary home to help you celebrate the festive season. We currently have these 8 ceramic tree ornaments for sale, if they prove popular I will make more and in different designs. They are $10 each plus $4 postage. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #wildlife #sanctuarylife #babykangaroo #rescue #notjustkangaroos #Australia #fundraising #sponsor-a-roo #stopandcheck #christmas

15.01.2022 These are 11 babies that are currently in the house. All are available for our sponsor-a-roo program. Siggy is also inside at night, but she spends her days outside. There is also 2 x rufous bettongs and 3 x rabbits in the lounge room. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #australia #babykangaroo #notjustkangaroos #sponsor-a-roo #fundraising #fullhouse

15.01.2022 This slightly scruffy little girl is Bailey. Since Aubrey has been spending more time outdoors as young Kangaroos must do, Bailey has taken over as eldest in the nursery. All the privileges she reckons, nobody tells her to move she thinks.

14.01.2022 The woman who is sanctuary sitting for us while Andrew is in hospital, is also doing our rescues and today she found this little man

13.01.2022 Three new additions to the Sanctuary today, all down from Coober Pedy and transported down to us by Darren from kanga-Uber. First we have Aubrey, a 3ish kilo red x euro girl, and then we have Bailey a 1.4kg red girl and Mitch a 1.1kg velvet red boy. All 3 are doing really well and are available for sponsorship.... #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #wildlife #sanctuarylife #babykangaroo #rescue #notjustkangaroos #Australia #fundraising #sponsor-a-roo #stopandcheck #redkangaroo #velvets

13.01.2022 Something we dont get everyday, or ever, is this stunning Pacific Gull. It has an old break in the wing so cant fly but it will be safe here until it can go to a marine bird specialist, he has also been treated for mites. These guys are HUGE they range in length from 58 - 66cm long, have a wingspan of 137cm -157cm (1.5m ) and weigh 900 -1,180g. He is also at least 4 years old because he has all of his adult feathers which doesnt happen until they are 4. The Pacific gull (Larus pacificus) is a very large gull, native to the coasts of Australia. It is moderately common between Cararvon in the west, and Sydney in the east, although it has become scarce in some parts of the south-east. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #australia #babykangaroo #notjustkangaroos #stopandcheck #birdsofaustralia #pacificgull #seabird

12.01.2022 New enclosure being built, always something to do here.

12.01.2022 This poor little girl was picked up from a member of the public today, she weighs 1.4kg but should weigh closer to 1.8kg. She is very lethargic and stressed, she's also very dehydrated and hasn't been fed for days. I have subcut her with fluids (injected under the skin) and given her some vitamins to help her. Once the fluid has been absorbed I will be giving her a feed of milk with added nutrients. It is going to be a slow process, but provided her organs are not damaged due... to malnutrition, she stands a reasonable chance. Thank you to Kylie for convincing the person to pass this little one on and for meeting, us half way when we picked her up. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE IF YOU FIND A JOEY GET IT TO A CARER ASAP DO NOT TRY TO RAISE IT YOURSELF!!! #GUMBYS #KANGAROO #SANCTUARY #WILDLIFE #SANCTUARYLIFE #BABYKANGAROO #RESCUE #NOTJUSTKANGAROOS #AUSTRALIA #FUNDRAISING #SPONSOR-A-ROO #STOPANDCHECK #REDKANGAROO

11.01.2022 These photos are a great example of why its so important to stop and check ALL deceased roos, you CAN NOT TELL as you drive past if they are male or female.

10.01.2022 The last journey. Once graceful and powerful you moved across this land. Your own land, your own home. Where are you now? There were more of you, your family your friends your future. Crossing this landscape to find others, stopping for a feed and drink the search continues. Across the way there may be a chance to have that new blood, that new generation offspring, where the little ones can be raised. There are obstacles in the way now, your journey is hard and not assured ...anymore. Where once you were able to move freely, the path is now blocked, the road the building the fence are in your way. You are so young, your journey has just begun, from Mums love it is time to leave and learn the way on your own, to find others and raise your own. Now your journey has been cruelly interrupted. A piece of land not safe, not yours anymore. A predator that is relentless, scared beyond any comprehension. Panic and confusion, which way do you go. Your body is contorted and in pain, the predators are screaming past you, alone and afraid, can't get up, can't escape. There is now no longer the future that was intended and supposed to be. Where, why, you don't understand. Compassion comes as savior, a strange animal, smells bad but helps you without your knowledge. A different journey has begun, terrified and confused, angry at this new environment you have been thrust in to, a sense of movement without movement, a new sensation, shock and sickness overwhelms as your savior tries in vain. Your final journey, without your knowledge, without your permission. We carry you to the final destination. The last journey comes as a sting, your life slips away, your future is gone, the hope is gone. Never to know the land you own, to the spirit world you return. RIP Bronte See more

10.01.2022 we usually attend markets as well as advertise on here to help support the place (over 120 animals of all species including kangaroos, dogs, possums, birds, lizards, snakes) However on Sunday we were unable to attend the market due to hubby's health and now we have gone into lockdown so i am running an online market. Prices range from $2 and there is something for everyone so please have a look. I am endeavoring to get prices on everything but there is SOOOO much and im runn...ing on limited time so please send a message or ask and i will get back to you ASAP. Most of these items are now on the website so please have a look you might just find something you like, or the perfect Christmas present and you will be helping the animals at the sanctuary too. These are just some of the items we have and the list is growing daily Please share this listing far and wide and help us help the animals

10.01.2022 Because facebook wont let me post more than 10 photos at a time on our page, i have shared the link to the market day album on my personal page. This album is public so please share it far and wide. There are SOOOOOO many items that i will be uploading for quite some time yet so please keep looking. I will endeavor to get prices up on each photo but i am working in a very limited time frame.... If you would like more information about something please message us and i will get back to you ASAP. I offer 3 payment options; Card (by emailed invoice using square) paypal or bank deposit. https://www.facebook.com/jasmine.oswald.1/media_set

10.01.2022 One of these things is not like the others. Around the wrong way too, anywhere I'll fit is her thinking when you don'tlike sleeping in your own bag. Not something we really encourage truthfully, but with your own Kangaroo brain it's all about being a close friend whether you like it or not. We will ask our followers a couple of question, for those Kangaroo carer friends please let our own willing public and supportive folk answer.... 1, Name the odd one out here by species if you can. Hint, it's all about the feet colour and the fact the ones putting up with her are the same as each other. They are found in the BUSH areas, not where the temperature reaches 50C in the sun. The first to comment the correct answer will receive a Gumbys thankyou posted for the knowledge shared. Bonus question, if you name all of the species you can see it will increase your understanding and your help with what we do, and the winner gets another thankyou gift. We really appreciate our followers, our public that wants to learn and help us speak and spread the word for Wildlife. Your participation in our sanctuary activities is of such importance we love you and your support. When you come and visit us at the markets and want to look at our support sales and the awareness of wildlife message we speak, it means the world to us. Thankyou for bringing your children, your anyone to meet us. Our Facebook and Instagram friends who we always hope to meet in person are included in the way we run this place, it's all about sharing. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #australia #rescue #redkangaroo #greykangaroo #Euro #animals #stopandcheck #savealife #animalsofinstagram #sesamestreet #species

10.01.2022 How can something so small eat soooo much? This little black faced cookoo shrike does nothing but eat. 10-15 crickets and magpie mince every couple of hours

10.01.2022 Little boy from yesterday doing well so far. I think I’m going to call him Wolf. His ears are too heavy for him.

09.01.2022 2 new resin pieces I have finished and ready for sale, square one is $60 and rectangular one is $110 plus postage, with all money raised going to the animals

08.01.2022 Lol thanks Darren Zint for bringing us Mitch and the 2 other little ones. We will introduce you all to them just shortly.

07.01.2022 With today's extreme heat please make sure there is plenty of water down for the animals. A shallow bowl with a stick or rock is great for lizards and insects and deeper dishes (still with the stick) for bigger animals including birds. Make sure its shaded and as safe as possible from predation.

05.01.2022 ***All 3 kangaroos sold but I can take orders for more *** We have these 9 gorgeous hand made soft toys available. They are $35 each and would make great Christmas presents. Pm us if you would like to purchase one.

05.01.2022 we will be at the Rotary Kadina Markets tomorrow and the Saddleworth Country Market on Sunday so come and check out our new products and meet some babies #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #australia #babykangaroo #notjustkangaroos #marketday #stopandcheck #fundraising

05.01.2022 We will be a part of this online market as well

05.01.2022 Sharing this link for information & awareness, not a criticism, as many people simply don't know these facts about birds (or any wildlife) & water - https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3763895290301470&id=683488071675556

05.01.2022 Julia has had a very busy day. First there was the call to Wilmington to pick up a little western grey pinky, while on route she was diverted to Alford to euthanaise an Eastern Grey doe who had been hit by a car and had an at foot joey. Sadly she was unable to catch the joey but the locals were keeping an eye out for him/her. Then off to Wilmington to collect the pinky, as she arrived to pick up the pinky she received a call about a sub adult euro in Jamestown, he appears to ...have some swelling around his spine so he can't hop but he can still stand so we are hopefull for him. Home to feed the babies and herself, then she gets a call from one of the locals at Alford to say they have caught the joey from this morning, so off she heads again to pick it up. Please everyone slow down on the roads to help save our wildlife and remember to #stopandcheck These babies will be available for sponsoring when we get home and assess them all. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #sanctuarylife #australia #stopandcheck #sponsoraroo #babykangaroo #bloodyeuros #westerngreys #easterngrey #hattrick #pinkiekangaroo #pinkies @ Gumby's Kangaroo And Wildlife Sanctuary Inc.

04.01.2022 While we understand that little birds like these welcome swallows can sometimes make nests in undesirable locations, people need to be aware that they will only be there for 2-3 weeks from hatching to flying. These 4 little birds are only days away from leaving the nest, but their nest was pulled down and now they are orphaned and in care. These little guys need fed every 10 - 15 minutes (in the wild they avarage 1 bug every 2 minutes from sun up to sun down) they also feed ...while flying so need parents to teach them how. These little guys also suffer from stress and die really easily, all because someone couldn't wait for a couple of days for the babies to move out. No only that, these are a native species and it is illegal to interfere with native wildlife, with a maximum fine of $5000. #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #wildlife #sanctuarylife #babykangaroo #rescue #notjustkangaroos #Australia #fundraising #sponsor-a-roo #stopandcheck #welcomeswallows #babybirds #fledglings

03.01.2022 Here at Gumby's we have had a hell of a week, while we received 3 new babies, we said goodbye to 2. Paul the young western gery went back to the vet on Tuesday after starting to hemorrhage. In consultation with the vet, he it was decided that euthanasia was the kindest option for him. The vet then preformed an autopsy to find out the source of the hemorrhage. Paul's heart had bleeding around it from the collision and part of his bowel had died and that caused the hemorrhage.... Then today we lost Melvin. We are unsure what caused this, but he was having seizures and we were unable to stop them so the decision was made to euthanasie We are absolutely heartbroken at the loss of these two beautiful boys. We they will remain in our hearts forever #gumbys #kangaroo #sanctuary #wildlife #sanctuarylife #babykangaroo #rescue #notjustkangaroos #Australia #fundraising #sponsor-a-roo #stopandcheck #westerngrey #rainbowbridge

03.01.2022 The little known and elusive Monjon. The Monjon is the smallest of Australia's rock wallaby species and only inhabits a limited and very remote area of the Kimberley region in northwest Western Australia. Because of the remoteness of its habitat and being that it is a small and shy creature, the Monjon was only 'discovered' in 1976. To this day it has been little studied so its behavioural traits and characteristics remain little known.... The Monjon is 30 - 35 cm in height and weighs 1 - 1.4 kg. It has soft, brown-grey fur with tawny and black marbling that darkens towards the rump with a white stripe over its hips. The base of the fur is a charcoal black. The face and sides of the neck are pale brown to buff in colour. The lower part of its nose is black and hairless, while the tip and upper part of the nose has very short hair. Its tail is light brown with a dark brown to black brush on the tip. It is nocturnal and shelters in shallow caves and crevices during the day and forages in adjacent vegetation at night. To warn of danger or intruders, the Monjon will thump its feet loudly. Because of its small size, the Monjon could be vulnerable to predation by feral cats. Predator control will possibly be a key requirement for the future protection of this limited and enigmatic rock wallaby. Monjons are listed as 'Near Threatened' because of the small size of their known range.
