18.01.2022 **EMERGENCY WARNING FOR A BUSHFIRE BURNING UNDER SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS - Issued for TEMPLERS near ROSEWORTHY AND FREELING** Latest: https://7news.link/3683G...sW CFS: "This fire may pose a threat to lives directly in its path. Act now. Leave, if the path is clear to a safer place, as it will soon be too dangerous to drive. If you cannot leave, identify where you will seek shelter from the bushfire. Heat from the fire will kill you. Do not enter this area as conditions are dangerous. The TEMPLERS, HORROCKS HIGHWAY fire is uncontrolled. This grass fire is burning in a south-easterly direction towards ROSEWORTHY, SANDY CREEK, FREELING and LYNDOCH. Conditions are continually changing. Homes that have been built to withstand a bushfire and are prepared to the highest level may provide safety. You may lose power, water, phone and data connections. Fire crews are responding but you should not expect a firefighter at your door. WHAT TO DO: Check and follow your Bushfire Survival Plan. Protect yourself from the fire's heat, put on protective clothing. Tell family or friends of your plans. IF YOU ARE LEAVING: Leave now, don't delay. Roads may become blocked or access may change. Smoke will reduce visibility. Secure your pets for travel. If you become stuck in your car, park away from bushes, cover yourself, get onto the floor as the windows may break from the intense heat. IF YOU CAN'T LEAVE: Identify a spot to shelter in, with more than one exit. Keep moving so you are away from the heat of the fire. Move flammable materials such as doormats, wheelie bins and outdoor furniture away from your house. Close doors and windows to keep smoke out. Bring pets inside and restrain them. If you have sprinklers, turn them on to wet the area. If the building catches fire, go to an area already burnt. Check around you for anything burning." 14.01.2022 Today marks the 5th anniversary of the Pinery bushfire. 2015 Pinery bushfire was a catastrophic bushfire that burned from 25 November to 2 December 2015, and primarily affected the Lower Mid North and west Barossa Valley regions immediately north of Gawler in South Australia. At least 86,000 hectares (210,000 acres) of scrub and farmland in the council areas of Light, Wakefield, Clare and Gilbert Valleys, and Mallala were burned during its duration. On 25 November, during the... major run of the Pinery fire, two fatalities occurred; Janet Hughes, 56, perished while fleeing in a vehicle outside Hamley Bridge; Allan Tiller, 69, perished while fighting the fire on a neighbour's property in Pinery itself. A further 90 people were hospitalized as a result of the fire, with five of the victims suffering critical injuries. The Pinery fire destroyed or rendered uninhabitable 91 houses, and completely destroyed 388 non-residential structures, 93 pieces of farm machinery and 98 other vehicles. Today we take the time to remember the 2 lives lost and their families, along with the many others who were greatly effected by the Pinery Fire. #SouthAustraliaBushfires #Pinery #PineryBushfire #CountryFireService #CFS #SACFS #CFSFoundation #CFSVolunteers #Brave #Incredible #Courageous #ThankYou

13.01.2022 It's still Fire Danger Season in most of SA, so if you're thinking of having a backyard campfire or bonfire for warmth/comfort at home over the long weekend there are things that you need to consider. You can have one, providing: - the fire is in a 30cm deep trench and no more than one square metre in area - you have a 4 metre cleared space around and above the fire... - a responsible person is in attendance at all times with water/an appropriate extinguisher. Please note that only charcoal is allowed to be burnt for comfort fires within a metropolitan area or within township boundaries by the EPA Legislation. Check with your local council before lighting a comfort fire. The use of above ground fires such as chimineas, fire drums, braziers are only permitted with the use of permits. #StopTheSpread #StaySafe #StayHome

12.01.2022 The CFS is known for our amazing volunteer firefighters, who drop what they are doing and jump on the back a truck at a moments notice. But the CFS is so much more than a bushfire service, and so, wed like to take National Volunteer Week as an opportunity to pay tribute to those who contribute in other ways to support our organisation. Operational Support members provide a range of valuable behind the scenes support to crews on the ground. ... Without our radio operators at the base and logistics officers ensuring crews get the equipment and resources they require, they simply wouldnt be able to respond to the incidents they get called to. Even ensuring the equipment is cleaned and functional after each use, makes all the difference in safely responding to incidents. The all-important catering crews provide an absolutely crucial role in making sure our volunteers in the field are fed and hydrated. And after every incident, theres always paper work. Enter our volunteer administrative officers, who make sure that the brigades can safely and effectively function. To everyone who supports our volunteers in being able to safely protect their community, we say, thank you! #ColouryourCommunityRed #SAVolunteer #NVW2020 #NationalVolunteerWeek #thankyoufiries #morethanabushfireservice
