25.01.2022 Supporting local businesses over overseas telemarketers for design & SEO services. Recently weve been inundated with unsolicited inter-state and overseas telemarketing calls; weve even had services offering to design our own website for us (a small lol there)! Unfortunately, were not the only home or small business phone number receiving endless aggravating distractions. A few points to keep in mind: many of these overseas web & SEO design services have a terrible knowle...dge of localised spelling & grammar. Indeed some of the poorer end results should never have seen the light of day (weve seen some doozies) and often built using ill-fitting design programs. Picking your way between scams and actual design services is a headache. Not all of these so-called cheap solutions turn out that way. You may save fortunes with their basic package, published even before your phone call ends, but then youre lumped with expensive add-ons - possibly even ongoing fees & charges - to provide functionality that shouldve been included at project outset anyway. 20.01.2022 The importance of virus protection - OK, youve got your brand spanking new Windows computer, fresh out of the box, you switch it on and away you go. But the first question you should now ask yourself is "Did I bring protection?". One of the most common complaints we hear from customers is that their computer is running slow or is already visibly infected with malware or a virus. Some of the time its due to an out of date anti-virus package, but more alarmingly, sometimes, e...ven no security at all (and no, WIndows Defender will not save you!) The very first software app you should consider is some form of anti-virus or anti-malware suite, either free or paid. Hackers can break in to your computer inside 60 seconds so it makes sense to offer them some resistance. 20.01.2022 Is Windows 10 right for you just yet? With the world upgrading to the new Windows 10 operating system in their droves it might be time to stop and draw breath. As with all new operating system releases there are hiccups & teething problems, and in Windows 10 theyre important ones. Of note are privacy and security issues. At the moment Microsoft is defaulting W10 to report your usage stats without you having any say in it (pro and con cases can be argued here). You also need... to know that when you click to upgrade to "free" W10 you could well be up for a whopping 3.5GB of your monthly bandwidth! If youre on a limited monthly bandwidth you could blow out this months allowance without even knowing it. Check your Internet package before hitting that button. Ongoing Windows Updates will be same - no longer are you warned that updates are happening (unless youre on the Enterprise version); a big month could again see you paying $ for extra bandwidth.
