13.01.2022 At Gunawirra Uncle Graham now carries out Smoking Ceremonies for special days and events. Smoking ceremonies are for spiritually cleansing the space and people on which we are performing. They protect the space from evil spirits which try to invade the space. When taking leaves from a tree, we ask for permission to take from its life source for the purpose of the smoking ceremony. The ashes from the smoking ceremony are then returned to the earth or our garden to rejuv...enate and to live again. The eucalyptus leaves are taken from the tree where they don't receive much sunlight (shaded side) as those leaves would have naturally struggled to survive. The tree we use is a coastal ironbark tree from the connecting space of the Eora & Dharawal nations. #smokingceremony #eora #dharawal #gunawirra #culture #connection #spirits #eucalyptus #ironbark #rejuvenation #motherearth #connectiontocountry
