25.01.2022 What a wonderful day today at the Gundagai Bowling Club. Gundagai hosted the District Championships and come away with two wins. Team Helen Pearce and Joan Dunn come up against the strong Tumut team Maureen Dowling and Kath Vickery. Team Helen flew from the start with a lovely lead of 7-1 on the 5th end. This gave the girls the confidence to maintain their lead however Team Maureen warming up the greens took a 3 pointer on the 9th end.... The greens were warming up and Team Helen is still leading and also grabs a 5 pointer on the 14th end which gives them a confident lead of 19-6. With the home ground advantage and the greens drying out the battle ended on the 20th end with an exciting win for Team Helen and a great score 27-7. Congratulations Helen and Joan. In the Open Pairs section we had a very exciting game between two Gundagai teams. Team Liz Polsen and Carol Dowell played Team Sharon Gaha and Gail Rowland. The girls did not disappoint! They put on a great game for us with a draw on the 3rd end they were holding their ground. Team Sharon managed to sneak ahead in the next few ends putting them in the lead by 6-3. Some great bowls were played and Team Liz playing quietly and playing well under pressure managed to claw back and give them a 2 point lead on the 23th end 8-9. Team Sharon settled and scored a 4 pointer on the next end so this game was anyone’s. Team Liz regrouped and scored consistently on the last three ends giving them a win by 2 points 13-15. Congratulations Liz and Carol and a great game from Sharon and Gail
24.01.2022 The dukes were up on Tuesday and what a lovely day to Play a spot of bowls. A vocal and very exciting game between the strong teams Wendy Nicholson and Sharon Armstrong against Carol Dowell and Jan Ingold. Bowl for bowl these two teams battled it out however Team Wendy managed to grab a 5 pointer on the 9th end giving them a handy lead of 9-6. Team Carol not to be deterred, just kept playing their own game and did not let them get away with them only trailing by 2 on the... 12 th end. Team Wendy defeated Team Carol on the 16th end by 17-12. Great bowls played by all. Game two - Helen Pearce, Judy Pigram and Pam Wattling played Gail Rowland, Joan Dunn and Judy Moore. What a game this was and the new girls on the block played some lovely bowls to make this a very enjoyable game to watch. Team Helen started out confidently with a 4 pointer and Team Gail not to be intimidated by that retaliated with a three pointer. On the 5th end they were a draw of 5 all. Team Gail warming up stole a cheeky 5 pointer putting them into a confident lead, however not for too long as the determined Team Helen won the next few ends bringing them back to a draw of 11 all on the 11th end. This was an exciting game and I heard they all really enjoyed the rally.. Team Helen started to pull away and defeated Team Gail by 17-13 Well done to all players. Game 3 - Sharon Gaha, Kath Jackson and Bronwyn Naughton played Bess Coggan, Cecily Luff and Jann Brooke. Team Sharon took off early with a 4 pointer however this did not rattle the Team Bess, the just played their own game until Team Sharon stole a 5 pointer. This put them in the lead by 12-5 on the 7the end. Team Sharon running with this lead and on the 12th end gained a lead of 17-7. Team Bess shifted gears and won the next 3 ends however were defeated by Team Sharon by 18 - 11. A great game that was enjoyed by both teams.

Team Helen consistently took each end and could do no wrong, they played some excellent bowls and the score reflects that. Team Helen defeated Team Bronwyn by a staggering 30 -4well done team Helen.

It has to be said that she is playing magical bowls and made it very hard for Team Cecily to catch up. Team Kath defeated Team Cecily by 24-14.
17.01.2022 Great to be out on a sunny Tuesday Three games were played and we were all watching the Championship game between Helen Pearce, Jan Ingold and Sharon Armstrong against Wendy Nicholson, Joan Dunn and Ina Ford. It was hard to concentrate on our games while this exciting game was playing. Team Wendy flew out with a great start winning the first 4 ends and on that 4 end managed to score a 5 putting the very strong team in the lead by 10 nil. ... Team Helen playing their own game and not allowing the score to deter them took back the next 3 ends and only trailing by 10-8 now. On the 10th end the score is closing in 15-12 and there are some cracker bowls being played. Team Wendy changed gears again and claimed the next couple of ends putting them into a nice little lead on the 15th end 20-13. Team Wendy manages to claim 5 which puts them in a really confident lead 25-13 and on the 18th end they win the championship triples by 29-15. Another pairs game between Cath Jackson and Mary McCormick against Bronwyn Naughton and Pam Wattling. Team Cath claimed a nice lead leading on the 6th end 6-1. Team Cath playing great bowls on the day led all the way to a great win on the 20th end 24-14. Mary McCormick played some very handy bowls on the day See you next week
16.01.2022 Tuesday 17 March. A game of Triples between Carol Manton, Kathy Jackson and Judy Pigram up against Helen Pearce, Liz Polsen and the formidable Mary McCormick. What a great game this was with many great bowls put down by all. Both teams started out winning a few ends each until Team Carol managed a 3 pointer on the 6th end giving them a confident little lead of 6-2.... This didn’t seem to faze the experienced side and Team Helen just kept in the zone and clawed their way back until they were in the lead 10-8. Team Carol stepped it up again and on the 16th end they were a draw of 11 each.....a nail biter!! Team Carol defeated Team Helen on the next end by 12-11. 14.01.2022 Always a great day on the green. We are starting half an hour earlier now that we are getting our warmer weather. We saw two great games on Tuesday. Game One.... Championship Triples. Wendy Nicholson, Joannie Dunn and Ina Ford played against Sharon Gaha, Bronwyn Naughton and Judy Pigram. Team Gaha started out with a mighty 4 pointer and winning the first two ends put them on the board. The mighty Team Nicholson was not going to take this laying down and and scored 9 points on the next 3 ends. Both teams battled it out but Team Nicholson were just too strong and galloped away with a lead of 18 to 7 on the 11 end. Team Gaha stayed united and took control of the next 4 ends however they were one pointers and put them in a better position of trailing 20 to 13 on the 16th end. Team Nicholson playing great bowls stayed in front and were successful in keeping the opposition out of the head and winning the game on the 18th end with a score of 22 to 17. Congratulations to Wendy, Joan and Ina the Triples Champion. They all played magic bowls so well done to you all. Game 2. Social Triples Helen Pearce, Mary (Champ) McCormack and Jane Davidson played against Jan Ingold, Sharon Armstron and Kathy Jackson. Team Ingold took hold of the game straight up with 6 points on the first 2 ends. Team Pearce just needing to warm up retaliated by taking the next 2 ends. This game was heating up with Team Jan deciding to ramp it up and run away with the next 4 ends and giving them a confident lead of 12 to 6 on the 11th end. Team Ingold on fire and can do nothing wrong slowly pulls away with a healthy lead of 23 to 10 on the 17the end. On the last end the strong Ingold team just took a four pointer and won with a great lead of 23 to 14 Congratulations to all players.
14.01.2022 Well what an achievement to Bronwyn Naughton. Firstly Bronwyn has only been playing bowls for just under two years and straight up she found herself as our publisher. This year has been such a fantastic effort and achievement for Bron winning The fours Club champions The Triples The Pairs and The Singles. On Thursday at club Tumut Bronwyn played District Single finals against a seasoned experienced player Sue Frankavick’s Sue has taking out this title for several years. How... proud our club support team were to witness some great bowling from Bronwyn worthy of a final. She won the first few ends with Sue having to revise her own game to meet her formidable opponent. Three hours with as little as 3 points in the lead, with at one stage the game was 17 / 17 all. We were on the edge of our seats bantering going to and from both sides of support teams with each player answering to the other with lead bowls. It came down to the last two ends with Sue having a lead of 23 to Bronwyn’s 21. Sue managed to successfully get her two winning bowls on the last end. And the Gundagai support team still went wild with Congratulations for a game well played by one of our new members. Congratulations to Sue it was a great game to watch. Bronwyn you are a great sportsmanship and a valuable Club member well done See more
13.01.2022 Lovely to be back with beautiful company and a fun day of bowls. Two games of bowls were played on this perfect sunny Tuesday. Game 1, Bess Coggan and Jan Ingold came up against Kathy Jackson and Ina Ford. Team Bessie took the first end with a 3 pointer and Team Jackson put it straight to the girls by putting a 5 on the board.... Team Jackson took off with a lovely start to the game not slowing Team Bess to score for the next 5 ends and leading by 13 to 3. Team Bess took the next 2 ends but the crafty Team Jackson flew away again by managing to score on the next 6 ends giving them a very healthy lead of 23 to 5. Not giving up got a moment Team Bess won the next two ends adding 8 points to the score. Final score Team Jackson defeating Team Bess by 23 to 25. Game 2, Wendy Nicholson, Bronwyn Naughton and Mary McCormick played Helen Pearce, Joannie Dunn and Judy Moore. Team Helen started out with some great bowls giving them the first four ends and a confident lead of 8 to 0. Team Wendy not giving in came back at them with a couple of ends which spurred the opponents on until the last end Team Helen defeating Team Wendy by 24 to 8. Fingers crossed we can manage to meet up again each Tuesday and enjoy good bowls and wonderful company on the Gundagai greens
12.01.2022 What seemed to be a chilly morning turned out to be a cracker of a day on the green for the ladies on Tuesday after our Annual General Meeting. A huge thankyou goes out to our beautiful President Liz Polsen who has stood down after a very busy and fruitful 5 years. I know that all her hard work and her welcoming to many new players was so greatly appreciated by all. Our new President is Jane Davidson and we know she has big shoes to fill but no doubt Jane will do a fantast...ic job with her wealth of knowledge and experience All other positions stayed the same so looking forward to getting back to the game. Two very vocal games were played this week and it feels good to be back and playing the game we all love, with friends. Team Gail Rowland seconded by Joan Dunn and led by Mary McCormick played Team Helen Pearce, seconded by Kathy Jackson and led by Sharon Armstrong. Team Pearce started out nicely by stealing the first 5 ends by a lead of 8-1 and then managed to dominate until the 12th end with a lead by 13 to 5. Not giving in Team Rowland managed a crafty 3 and a 4 pointer in the last few ends however Team Pearce had a healthy lead giving them a win 17-12. Game two was played by Team Sharon Gaha, Helen Lott, Pam Wattling and led by Jan Ingold and Team Wendy Nicholson, Bronwyn Naughton, Judy Moore and led by Jan Ingold. Team Sharon took the first two ends and Team Wendy matched that by taking the next 2 ends. Both teams matched end for end until Team Sharon scored a 5 on the 7th end giving them a lead of 9 to 3. Team Wendy had to shift it up a gear to keep up with their opponents and managed a 4 on the 9th end trailing by 8-9. Team Sharon consistently took each end however Team Wendy grabbed a 5 on the 16th end bringing the game to a draw. Team Wendy defeated Team Gaha by 19-18. See you all next Tuesday for District Pairs
12.01.2022 A lovely day was had by all. Sixteen ladies turned out for three exciting games of bowls on Tuesday. Again a thankyou must go out to Neil for our amazing green, we really are a very lucky little club. Bess Coggan, Cec Luff and Mary McCormack played Sharon Gaha, Kath Jackson and Bronwyn Naughton. 18 Ends are played in the Triples Championships with this game starting out well for Team Gaha claiming the first 6 ends and giving them a lovely lead of 8-1. Team Coggan warming up now and start to put some numbers on the score board and this no doubt gives them the confidence to steal the next 4 ends and play catch up trailing by only 11-5. Team Gaha managed to take a 4 pointer on the 14th en d which gave them room to breath and went on to claim a victory of 17-8. Game 2. Sharon Armstong, Helen Pearce and Jane Davidson played Wendy Nicholson, Ina Ford and Pam Wattling. By all reports this was a fun game with plenty of sledging and Skip Armstrong kept them all amused for the whole 20 ends. The ladies pretty much played bowl for bowl however, team Nicholson gained a little lead in the first 7 ends. Team Armstrong not taking this laying down picked up the tempo and managed to draw on the 12th end. Team Armstrong just too strong on the day claimed the next 11 ends giving them the game of 25-11. Game 3. A game of pairs with Gail Rowland and Jude Pigram playing Joan Dunn and Jan Ingold. Another exiting game where the score was bowl for bowl. Great to see an exciting game where the score is very close. Team Rowland put the first points on the board however by the 7th end Team Ingold had caught up to draw 7 all. Team Rowland managed to slowly slip in front again but Team Ingold changed it up and gained a little lead on the 16th end. Team Ingold warming up nicely slipped away however Team Rowland scored a lovely 7 on the last two ends giving them the game 23-20.

Team Helen not laying down smashed out a six pointer on the last end with Team Eric defeating Team Helen by 22 to 17. Game 2.
