25.01.2022 Macintyre Wind Farm which is a joint project between Acciona.Australia and CleanCo Queensland will be under construction by the middle of next year. It’s a $2 b...illion project, delivering 400 jobs and clean energy for over 700,000 Queensland Homes. This is only possible because of the investment of the Palaszczuk Government and our commitment to not only 50% renewables by 2030, but also bringing you cheaper power!

24.01.2022 BREAKING // Queensland will close the border to NSW and ACT from 1am Saturday 8 Aug 2020 Update: People who live in border communities will be able to access Qu...eensland with a special pass once proof of address is provided. 1 new case under investigation in West Morten region. 24.01.2022 Queensland Treasurer, Cameron Dick MP, gave the COVID-19 fiscal and economic review today. The key points were: Additional $249 million in small and medium ...business tax relief. $1 billion jobs and industry boost - half for renewables and half for the Backing Queensland Business Investment Fund. Waiving payroll tax from July & August 2020 for businesses up to $6.5 million. No payroll tax on JobKeeper payments ongoing. Encouraging councils to refinance their loans to reduce interest rates, saving $290 million per year. Labor will not produce a surplus this year, for the first time since being returned to Government in 2015. 2019/20 outlook has predicted a deficit of $5.9 billion, despite government revenue falling by over $6.8 billion. This is rather outstanding given how other states are faring in this uncertain time. It proves that our plan to Unite and Recover Queensland is working!

23.01.2022 Regenerative Agriculture has been talked about as the future of beyond sustainable farming. Farms are the backbone of Southern Downs, and we should all be equip...ped with the tools to bring greater prosperity to our families. This video was made by Amy Browne. 23.01.2022 ICYMI: LNP member confirmed cuts to public hospitals, which will mean cuts to nurses and doctors. You can’t trust the LNP! I will always stand with our public ...service and the work done by our frontline staff such as doctors and nurses. They must be given the tools to do their jobs and prevent their jobs being privatised. See more

21.01.2022 Those of us who in Goondiwindi know the importance of the work being done at Queensland’s border. Thank you to the Minister for Local Government, Stirling Hinchliffe for joining with our local candidate Joel Richters to show our appreciation for the work they are doing. Strong borders are an important part of keeping Queenslanders safe and on the path to unite and recover from COVID-19.

17.01.2022 BREAKING: The Chief Health Officer has given the all-clear to ease some restrictions early thanks to the strong health response of Queenslanders. From 4pm today..., Friday October 16: - Up to 40 people can dance at weddings with a COVID Safe Plan - Dancing will be permitted at Year 12 school formals - Gatherings of 40 people will be allowed in homes and public places - Outings from aged care facilities can resume Together we have successfully suppressed our most recent outbreak with barely a handful of COVID cases across the state. Queenslanders have done a great job of fighting this virus and deserve to have restrictions lifted as soon as it’s safe to do so. Our strong health response means we can get on with Queensland’s economic recovery plan. It’s still incredibly important to follow the health advice if you’re unwell, stay home and get tested. #covid19

16.01.2022 I had an amazing day chatting to sheep graziers and being at the Karbullah Poll Merinos Stud Ram Sale. Some beautiful Rams at great prices is another sign of a ...return to Queensland’s sheep industry. We still have a long way to go, but cluster fencing is turning the tide and backed by more than $38 million of support from the Palaszczuk Government. Thank you to Mark, Vicki and the Murphy Family for your great country hospitality.

15.01.2022 Today there are road works on the Cunningham Highway between Goondiwindi and Yelarbon, making necessary repairs to the worst sections of that road. The LNP tal...k the good talk about wanting to do more for our rural roads, but in the same breath they promised $30,000,000,000 to 4 lane the Bruce Hwy to Cairns. This will pull much needed funding away from our local roads leaving us with even worse roads. While also cutting and sacking our frontline health services and workers. Only the Palaszczuk Labor Government are backing all of Queensland and has the economic recovery plan for us.

15.01.2022 With good rain that has been received in the recent weeks and months it’s shaping up to be a good season for our farmers. We know that our agricultural industry... is aiming to add $40 billion to farm gate outputs by 2030. I’m committed to this. We won’t get there by every person doing their own thing. We need to work together, embrace new technology and learn about new methods like regenerative agriculture. We will be limited by a lack of vision when it comes to infrastructure and international trade. The Palaszczuk Government is working collaboratively with industry to boost agriculture in Queensland.

15.01.2022 At this very time (2:50pm on 3 Sep 1935), 85 years ago, the Hon Paul JR Hilton gave his first speech in the Queensland Parliament. Paul was the first Labor memb...er of parliament to be elected from our region. The electorate was called Carnarvon then. There are a lot of similarities between Paul and I. He was a moderate who understood the measured approaches needed to represent a vastly agricultural electorate. He also was unwavering in his ambition to be progressive, to push ahead with new ideas and reach for the policies of the future. In his speech he talks about the ravages of drought and spoke of a new idea for a Dam. 50 years after this speech the first part of that scheme become a reality, Glenlyon Dam. He also talked about the plight of influenza that was becoming increasingly more potent and was calling for medical and scientific experts to work towards a solution. Every word of this speech, as eloquent as they are, bears a direct relationship to where we are as South Western Queenslanders. I hope that this speech gives you as much inspiration to make a vote for change at this election here in Southern Downs, as it does for me to fight for you.

15.01.2022 Gathering restrictions will be lifted to 30 people from 8am Thursday. We will now be consistent with the rest of the state outside SEQ. Well done everyone! Our great heath response to COVID has kept us safe and COVID free on the Downs.

14.01.2022 The first export of fresh Inglewood broccoli from Toowoomba’s Wellcamp Airport to Singapore takes off tonight in a positive sign for the region’s COVID-19 econo...mic recovery. 1824 kilograms of broccoli grown by Qualipac near Inglewood and picked on Wednesday will be on supermarket shelves in Singapore tomorrow. 06.01.2022 With the addition of Tulloona in the Border Zone, I am pleased that all the post codes or localities that I wrote to the Premier and Chief Health Officer about ...have now been included. It has been great to see council, community groups and individuals all working together for a common goal. Proves what can be achieve when we all stick together. Tulloona residents need to carry this exemption letter with the border pass: jori.es/tulloona

05.01.2022 It was great to be able to show the Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey the amazing pontoon built in Goondiwindi by the Palaszczuk Government. Del...ivering for regional Queensland and making recreational boating safer for locals. This was built as part of the $1.2 million Western Pontoons Package and has been a much loved addition to the Macintyre River.

04.01.2022 There will be NO Death Tax under a Labor Government. Don't listen to the lies. Clive Palmer is lying and he is using his billionaire budget to broadcast his fak...e news across the state. Deb Frecklington needs to call out these lies and tell Queenslanders why she's working with this liar to get elected. #CliveLies #FakeNews #QLDVotes

03.01.2022 The premier has announced this morning that Moree will be added to the Border Zone. This is in response to the devastating fire that happened in Mungindi this week. Keeping Queenslanders safe while doing the right thing.

01.01.2022 SPRINGBORG REMOVED FROM LNP EXECUTIVE Former LNP state leader Lawrence Springborg has been removed from the party's executive committee. Mr Springborg, who is ...also Goondiwindi's Mayor, had been one of three party trustees. In a statement, he said it was "a great privilege" to represent the interests of LNP members and he wouldn't comment further on party matters. "Since I have retired from state parliament I have refrained from engaging in public commentary on party political matters," he said. "The appointment of party trustees is a matter for the party's state executive." READ MORE: https://mobile.abc.net.au//lawrence-springborg-bo/12471758

01.01.2022 Last night Goondiwindi was a hive of activity. Road train after road train bringing in the perfect harvest of Barley.
