25.01.2022 Thank you to all our families who attended our 2020/21 season presentation on Sunday. Congratulations to all the award winners and record breakers for the season. Well done to all athletes for a great season with lots of fun, PBs and friendships made. Thank you to all our families for helping to make it a great season despite some challenges! (Some age group photos have not been posted due to a large number of athletes not able to have their photos posted on social media).

23.01.2022 2020-21 Registrations are now OPEN! Thanks to all the parents who gave us feedback on how best to split our sessions this season, all the details of how this will work are now on our website. All families from last season should have received emails today with information and links to register. Our website also has plenty of useful info - www.gunlac.org.

23.01.2022 Check out this week's NEWS on our website. Roster reminders for this week have been sent out tonight. We are looking for ONE more set-up person for session 2 (senior throws) and FOUR more track officials for session 2. 23.01.2022 Another fabulous meet yesterday - it was a hot one but our athletes were brilliant breaking over 320 PBs! Our ribbon writers will be busy this week ready for our first round of PB ribbons to be handed out next weekend! A big congratulations to Sarah L from Under 15 girls who broke the High Jump Record - a huge jump of 1.46cm! Sarah now owns the Under 13, 14 and 15 Girls GUNLAC High jump records! A reminder that we have 3 more meets before the Christmas break - Week 6 will be a FRIDAY TWILIGHT meet on 11th December and we will hold a meet on Saturday 19th December as a make-up for Week 1 which was washed out. Start time details for the Friday meet will be circulated this week.

23.01.2022 This SATURDAY is our final meet for 2020 before our xmas break. Its our wash-out week in place of Week 1 which was rained out. As previously communicated in the GUNLAC news we will be running the WEEK 1 ROSTER. If you were on roster for week 1 and had the weekend off you will be on roster this weekend. If you can't make it we will reallocate you to another meet in January or February 2021 - but PLEASE let us know. Emails to those on roster will be going out tonight.

23.01.2022 Great to see some of our older athletes competing at the ACT Athletics summer series meet this morning - Benny, Cooper, Chloe, Jaime and Emma. If you’re 12 years and older and a GUNLAC athlete you can become a dual registered athlete with North Canberra Gungahlin Athletics club and compete in these meets. Contact us if you are interested.

We still have a number of Committee and Committee support roles to fill-Vice President, Equipment Officer, Assistant Registrar, Assistant Recorder, First Aid Officer, COVID Safety Officer, Age Group Manager Co-ordinator. 20.01.2022 Congratulations to another GUNLAC athlete, Cooper J who has been selected to represent the ACT at the 2021 Australian Athletics Championships. Good luck and have a great time in Sydney next week Cooper!

20.01.2022 This course is perfect for parents planning to be an Age Group Manager or assist at our weekly Thursday training sessions. The cost of the course will be reimbursed if you assist with coaching at GUNLAC. Let us know if you register so this can be arranged.

19.01.2022 Registrations for the 2020 ACT Relay Carnival have been extended until Sunday 6th December at 11.45pm. See if you can get a team or two together within your age group this Saturday! You do not need to be in a team to enter-we will organise teams within our club once entries close. No GUNLAC meet will be held on Saturday 12th December due to the Relay Carnival. We will hold a twilight meet on Friday 11th December instead.

Our split meets this season will provide the perfect opportunity for the younger athletes to learn some skills from our senior ones. 17.01.2022 Don't forget training this Thursday! We will have hurdles for Under 10s and younger - always a good session practicing hurdles technique. This group will also do discus. Older athletes (Under 11+) will be on throws - discus and Javelin. 5.15pm at Amaroo Oval.

17.01.2022 Have you completed our 2020-21 parent survey yet? We are seeking views from parents on the structure of our Club meets given current COVID requirements. Registrations for the 2020-21 season will now open on August 31st, we will be taking survey responses until next Monday August 24th. The survey link has been emailed to parents, message us if you did not receive it.

16.01.2022 Our next junior coaches to introduce are Lara and Imogen - coaches for the U6 boys! Lara and Imogen have also been doing an amazing job coaching our U7 & U8 athletes with Isabelle at our weekly Thursday training sessions. Lara was a GUNLAC athlete for an impressive 12 years, starting in the U6 age group and completing her final season in the U17s in 2019/20. Lara gave all events a go with a positive attitude but preferred longer distance races over the years. She has represen...ted the ACT at a national level for cross country. Lara also enjoys playing netball. Imogen has always been very active with Little Athletics, dance, Zanshin, netball and years of competitive swimming. She still enjoys dance and swimming. No longer GUNLAC athletes themselves, both Lara and Imogen are now keen to encourage the younger kids to enjoy sport, especially Little As, as much as they always have. Thanks girls! See more

13.01.2022 Are you a current or former Little Athlete aged 14 years or older? We are currently hiring junior athletics coaches for our Thursday training and Saturday junior session at 8.30am (Under 6-8 session). A great opportunity for any budding coaches - payment and coaches shirt provided. Junior coaches who are also GUNLAC athletes can coach in the morning session and then compete in their age group from 9.45am - win-win! 13.01.2022 Interested in Little Athletics? Check out our website for all the info for our 2020-21 season which commences on October 24th 2020. This season at GUNLAC our fees have stayed at 2019-20 levels - $140 for a single registration, $270 for two athletes and $390 for 3 athletes. We run 15 meets at Amaroo oval from October to February and optional training on Thursday nights for Under 7s and older - its the best value, fun sport your kids can do! 13.01.2022 Treasurer needed!! GUNLAC is in need of a volunteer to fill the Committee role of Treasurer. This role should take up 30min-1hr of time each week during the season. More time is required at the end of the season when preparing accounts for the EOFY and auditing. A thorough handover and guidance will be provided by our previous Treasurer who will still be on GUNLAC's Committee, but filling another major role.... Email [email protected] if interested or you would like more information at all on this role.

12.01.2022 This week's program is now available. The forecast is for a hot day so we really want to encourage all age groups to start on time - particularly those in the second session. Age group managers - if you are on a field event these should commence by 9.45am to avoid holding up other groups later in the program. We have big groups on High Jump this week - we'd love some helpers from Under 10 Boys and Girls, Senior Girls and Under 13/14 Girls from 9am to help us set up the mats and two shades for the athletes.

11.01.2022 The forecast for tomorrow is looking fantastic - what’s looking less fabulous is our track roster . We currently don’t have enough volunteers to run straight track for 6-8s or hurdles for 9-17s. No officials means a long line of disappointed kids not racing. 10.01.2022 How awesome have our junior coaches been this season? We've been hearing great feedback from parents and age group managers - so we thought we'd introduce a few of them each week on Facebook. First up - Emma and Jaime the coaches for the Under 6 girls. Both girls have been at GUNLAC for many seasons (this is Emma's 11th season and Jaime's 8th season). They are great role models for our aspiring little athletes - both girls have competed for the ACT at National competitions (Emma in cross country and swimming and Jaime in cross country and athletics). Most importantly they love coaching and love athletics! Thanks girls!

02.01.2022 It's hump day but Saturday isn't too far away! We will be sending out roster reminders TODAY for the weekend. We'd love a few extra helpers in the following areas: High jump set up - UNDER 9, UNDER 12B and UNDER 13/14B parents your athletes are on High Jump this weekend! We have 3 mats to set up so will need extra help from 9am to set-up mats and also the shades for the kids. High jump is now on the Top oval. Hurdles track recorder - two track helpers needed on Hurdles for ...Senior groups. Round track discs helpers 2nd session - Under 9-17 parents we need a disc person to help on 800, 400 and 200 races. This person hands out the place discs to athletes. We know that some parents find helping on tracks a bit intimidating, however most find its easy once they have been given instructions. We always have Committee members or experienced parents at each track. No officials = no races! If you can help please email us at [email protected]

U7s & U8s: LJ & discus U9s up: Middle distance/fitness It looks like the rain will have cleared by this evening but keep an eye on Facebook for a cancellation due to the weather. We will aim to cancel by 4pm if we need to do so.
