From 7 to 14 November, you can tour of nine of Crookwell's most outstanding cool climate... gardens, including Binda's The Mill, and the famous Markdale Gardens, designed by Edna Walling. 05.01.2022 Such a lovely picture from @kandahar48 of the original Binda School at "Funny Hill" on the Binda Road! The charming village of Binda was gazetted in 1850, makin...g it the oldest town in the old Crookwell Shire. The Binda School was one of the first buildings opened (1851), making it the first school in the Crookwell Shire. Did you know that back in 1851, parents of an area had to apply to the Board of National Education for the provision of a school and meet at least one-third of the building costs? They also had to guarantee an attendance of 30 children and pay school fees which formed part of the teacher's salary.
