11.01.2022 We just hit 1,000 followers ! Hello new friends I’m Wallis, but friends call me Apple ... I’m a tertiary educated Clinical Nutritionist (BHSc.NutMed) with post graduate studies in Herbalism Im 50% of the dynamic duo that conceived of GURU The Edible Apothecary My other half, Kev, is an award winning craft-butcher (now ‘retired’ ) with A+ knife skills that he has transferred into blade sharpening and edge remastering. WE HAVE AN IMPORTANT UPDATE: We’re STOKED to let you know that GURU has moved out of the markets & onto South Terrace (opp. the Hospital). GURU is our zero plastic, food as medicine concept store; we’ve been sourcing locally grown Wholefoods, Culinary & Medicinal Spices and Teas since our inception in 2016. In our new space, we are offering over 100 house blended spices & teas (formulating plants is my jam!) plus almost every hard to find spice you never even knew existed (Persian blue salt, anyone? ) We also offer Blade Sharpening services by my partner who is a seasoned Edgemaster with over 20 years of Japanese Whet stone technique. If you’ve never had your knives properly sharpened - run don’t walk - it literally is a GAME CHANGER in the kitchen. Everything we do is to nourish & inspire our beautiful community to invite quality food and cooking back into your life. All our blends are made weekly, are gluten free, have no weird MSG / fillers or additives. We toast and grind and mill in house (Yes - THE SMELLS ARE AMAZING ). Whilst our shelves are not 100% full yet, (we’re busy mixing up our first batch of house blends), if you don’t mind a little bit of progress not perfection - we’d love to open our doors to you all - share a Kombucha on Tap & meet our locals who we hope will soon become like a second family to us We’re Open (From tomorrow) Tues - Friday 10am - 6pm Saturday & Sunday 8am - 4pm Come say Hi!

10.01.2022 BREAKING: We, the Wangan and Jagalingou tribal warriors have re-established control of access to our Country leading to the Adani Carmichael Coal Mine site to e...nforce protection of our home lands. We are #StandingOurGround to evict Adani and end the desecration of our homelands. We will remain on country to enforce the eviction notice that we issued to Adani last week. Soon, Adani will start draining the water table and digging their mine, causing irreversible damage to our lands, our sites and our sacred Doongmabulla Springs. They have given us no choice but to take urgent action to protect water, defend our Country and maintain our right to preserve and practice our culture. We have been fighting against Adani’s Carmichael project for 10 years, it is our duty to continue. We demand Adani Australia abandon their Carmichael mine project immediately. #StandingOurGround #EvictAdani

09.01.2022 Small Batch Dry Roasted Cashews Roasting nuts breaks down the nuts cell walls, releasing their oils and creating the toasty delicious aroma and crunch we all know and love Did you know? ... After a nut is roasted it slowly begins to oxidise, shortening it’s optimal shelf life to 9 months before the oils turn rancid. Rancid oils develop harmful free radicals that cause long-term cell damage and potentially lead to the development of chronic disease in the body! Hands up if you’ve bought roasted nuts at the shops before Sadly - Most pre-roasted nuts are months, if not years old and are already rancid when you buy them. By small batch roasting all of our nuts each week (without oil!), we give you 9 months of guaranteed freshness... If they last that long of course
