16.01.2022 Winning Not ever day is a winning day. Not ever part of a day is a winner.... Today started as a non-winner. The body said it was time to wake up at 2:41am.... Why??? No idea... I had the most perfect pre-bed routine I’ve had in a while. I should have slept like a log. But not to be.... So changed my booking from 9:15am class to the 5:15am class. Winning... Part A of the workout - Winning Part B of the workout - little from column A and a little from column B.... Started the WOD on fire with burpee box jumps, finished the WOD burpee box step overs that looked like drag overs... The body said no, so the mind took over and we just kept moving - Winning Choose your daily battles. Keep moving forward. 14.01.2022 Opportunity When I started at @fire_and_ice_training Anthony Maw was one of the first to introduce himself to me. Big smile and firm Covid safe handshake. Since that day we have chat a bucket load.... His story is one to learn from. With his permission I’ll be sharing his story shortly. It is definitely one EVERYONE can take something from. We’ve been trying to tee up a partner burner WOD for a couple of weeks. Today we got it in. 14:21min. The only thing slowing him down are his 400yr old knees. There are so many ways to just move - Body weight movements such as squat, push up, sit up, burpee, lunges etc... Add books, canned food, rocks to a back pack and go for a walk, hike or while you do body weight movements. Use the play equipment a local park. Pull ups, dips, push ups, climb... Use the local environment - stair runs, seat jumps, bear crawl up a grassy hill or a sand dune, swim, run/swim in a pool/beach/lake... Use odd objects to carry - jerry can farmers carry, bucket carry above your head, esky carry... AMRAP 15mins Max carry distance 21/15/9 Mix and match all of the above Make the most of the holiday season. Get in, get out without the fluffing around ... This dad wants to get strong, so down the track Poppy can say my dad is stronger than yours It is very, very different from my usual style but it allows me to still do my CrossFit at @crossfit_midnightlife Honestly can say I’ve never done deficit sumo deadlifts. And definitely can say haven’t done them in a gym where I can’t drop the barbell If 2020 has taught me anything, ok it’s taught me a bucket load. 04.01.2022 Broken body 20+ years of sport, mainly Rugby League aka NRL will do some damage to the body. I managed to come through the other side without too many aches and pains 10 surgeries, countless Physio, massage and doctor visits helped save this rig.... Like many, I mean many other ex-sports people who have beat up bodies. I am committed to leading a healthy life. We may not be able to physically do the movements to the prescribed manner.
