23.01.2022 Have you wondered what Leaky Gut actually is Well, it's when the tight junctions between the gut cells loosen up. This causes inflammatory particles to pass through that shouldn't. Then they get to work creating symptoms like...... Food sensitivities Nutrient deficiencies Itchy skin, breakouts and rashes Head fog and poor concentration Autoimmune condition flare ups Muscle aches and joint pain What causes Leaky Gut? Disruptive bacteria, gluten, antibiotics, stress. The good news is we can test for it. Please get in touch if you'd like to know how.

23.01.2022 Do you find it’s easier to smell the roses when you’re on holidays? Yep, me too. This time of year is a perfect opportunity to reflect on the year that’s passing ... ... and what a shocker it was! But, there were also surprising gifts right? I am so grateful for friends and family, and how we all checked in to make sure everyone was okay. There were intensely stressful moments for sure, Opportunities to step up, and find different ways of coping. Mindfulness was my saviour, how about you? P.s. if you want to learn, find my Mindfulness group. How would you like next year to be? For me it’s continuing to work on balance in all areas, and finding ease and flow in my days. .. a continuing process

21.01.2022 Look what I found at the Farmer's Market Red Amaranth is high in iron and can be cooked like spinach. Before I was diagnosed with SIBO I couldn't understand why my iron and zinc levels were so low,... ...when my diet was full of nutritious food. The trouble with the pesky bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine is, they consume these nutrients first. This is why it's worth testing to find out if SIBO is behind irritable bowel symptoms and persistent deficiencies. Then we can boot them out and get your energy, gut and life restored.

21.01.2022 It's our last day in the clinic for the year. Holly and I wish you an abundance of health in body, mind and spirit for 2021. If you need help with any of that, go ahead and book an appointment via our online system. We'll be back on Monday 11 January.

20.01.2022 Again the Gut Microbiome test reveals the cause of 10 years of suffering Fantastic Now the healing can begin.

19.01.2022 This is my latest favorite breakfast! Coconut Quinoa Pots What's yours? It's not only tasty and can be made in batches but it's:... gut bacteria friendly gluten free dairy free packed with antioxidants healthy fats fibre and delicious 1/4 cup cooked quinoa 1/2 cup blueberries 2 Tbsp coconut milk 5 macadamias chopped sprinkle cinnamon & nutmeg Soak the quinoa with the coconut milk and spices in a glass overnight in the fridge. The next morning add the blueberries and nuts.

18.01.2022 Have you used Aloe vera for constipation I was asked about this recently so here's the answer. The caution is the juice should only be used for 10 days to treat constipation. ... It contains anthraquinones that can cause staining in the bowel that can be a risk factor for bowel cancer. There are plenty of other treatments for constipation that I prefer, depending why you're constipated in the first place. It's also a FODMAP, so not suitable for those who are sensitive or undergoing SIBO treatment. What helps you for constipation

18.01.2022 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The presents are getting wrapped.. The baking is happening.... We're taking the opportunity to relax, restore and renew. Happy Holidays to you all. Michelle and Holly x

18.01.2022 Start today with a giggle

17.01.2022 Look what I found at the farmer's market. White asparagus Asparagus is high in insoluble fibre which helps regular bowel movements by adding bulk to the poop. This is what can help prevent constipation...... It also contains soluble fibre that our friendly gut bacteria Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus like to eat. Why would you want to increase these guys Well, part of their job is to strengthen our immune system and produce nutrients like B12 and K2. So how about adding asparagus into your diet. The only limit is if we're treating small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Then you are limited to 2-3 spears at once until the SIBO is evicted. ...and it's a wonderful vegetable to include when we are restoring your microbiome.

16.01.2022 Wishing you a peaceful Easter. Celebrate Relax... Enjoy from our families to yours, Michelle and Holly x

15.01.2022 The gut talks to us! It let's us know if it's unhappy... but do we listen?... How do we find the cause of the disruption Is it food causing the gas and bloating... Or, is it digestion, bacterial disruption, leaky gut and a disrupted microbiome. Figuring it out and finding the cause is my passion. Come and join me in the 5 Day Gut Challenge next week (it's free by the way), click the link in the comments below.

15.01.2022 It's such a beautiful time of year here. Stepping outside for daily renewal is vital. For me it's at least 30 minutes, sometimes 2 x 20 minutes during the week.... If you can't get out for a long walk ..shorter sessions are just as good, like 3 x 10 minutes. On the weekend, unlimited. How much time do you spend outside each day

14.01.2022 Have you heard of LPS Lipopolysaccharides are released from specific gut bacteria when they die. As long as the gut is healthy we handle this okay,... ...if not LPS gets into the blood via a leaky gut. If these continually enter the blood stream due to gut mayhem, then we end up with Endotoxemia. = toxins inside the blood. Not good. LPS can lead to inflammation aggravating not only the gut, but contributing to head fog, tiredness and joint inflammation. Plus they give the liver a lot more work to detoxify. Just ONE high starch, high fat, processed meal can trigger LPS in an unhealthy gut. Please get in touch if you need help with your gut.

12.01.2022 My new 6 weeks online course with group coaching starts this week.

07.01.2022 About 100 trillion bacteria, both good and bad, live inside our digestive system. Collectively, they're known as the gut microbiota. Eating a wide variety of fibre and fermented food looks after them. If you're not used to eating these foods start slowly with small quantities to avoid gas and bloating!... Sometimes this is the result of excess gas being produced after probiotics kill harmful gut bacteria and fungi. This is known as a 'die-off' reaction. Or you may have small intestine bacterial overgrowth? We can work that out. GI Map testing can show specific bacteria that live in your Microbiome... and lots of other useful digestion information.

01.01.2022 For people who can’t tolerate gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley ...the abundance of options in the supermarket is not always a blessing. Just because it's gluten free does not mean it's healthy!... Have you seen the amount of energy depleting and gut disrupting sugar in the biscuits It's important not to replace gluten with gluten free snacks and processed food that a packed full of fats, starchy carbs and salt. However, for those who need to be gluten free selecting whole grains like amaranth, quinoa, buckwheat, teff, millet, corn and rice, are good options. They contain natural sources of folate, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and iron, as well as protein and fibre. Obviously, gluten zero is a must for celiacs as the gluten protein damages the absorption cells in the gut. Did you know there a lots of undiagnosed celiacs out there? The problem is.. for the test to be accurate you actually need to eat 3 serves of gluten per day for 3 weeks to get a reliable result. AND the genetic test must also be done, because if you have the gene, becoming celiac could be triggered at any time. In that case it's wise to not eat gluten. It's also best avoided for those with thyroid problems and those on a FODMAP food trial for irritable bowel syndrome.
