19.01.2022 The best thing about having friends as clients is you get to watch the evolution of the spaces you’ve designed for them and how successfully ( or not!) these rooms adapt to their changing needs and circumstances over time.

15.01.2022 Work has begun on the restoration and replacement of our beautiful roofs at Tamu Seseh. Changing the bedroom pavilions to more sustainable timber shingles , and... replacing the thatch on our open living pavilions . I’m a bit of a nervous Nellie not being able to be there and supervise , but we have an amazing team, and contractor on the job and I have full confidence they’ll do an amazing job! See more

11.01.2022 New 12 storey apartment building next door has presumed giant portrait of Freddy Mercury overlooking us would compensate for 18 months of construction noise, disturbance and traffic. They presumed correctly.

05.01.2022 Architectural heritage is not defined by an era. It doesn’t stop at a certain year. It is defined by quality buildings that represent timelessness, which are often torn down before that era becomes fashionable. This is why Architecture should never be trumped by Real Estate. Or fashion. Or developers. Architectural authenticity should always prevail and those that decide which architects work should be preserved, can only ever be their peers.

04.01.2022 Ok Seseh village is not exactly like Sanur was in 1960. But the essence of the traditional village remains intact, and the sights, smells and atmosphere are still there if you walk or cycle around the village and surrounding rice fields in the early morning or the evening .

02.01.2022 More guests suffering through a holiday at Tamu Seseh. Honestly , some people !

01.01.2022 We’re replacing our thatched roofs over bedroom pavilions to sustainably grown hardwood timber shingles . The quality of thatch , traditionally grown in Lombok,... has deteriorated due to over use of synthetic fertiliser . There are moves to regrow the crop organically , but in the interim we are electing to go the timber shingle route . I expect this to play out widely across the archipelago in coming years. See more

01.01.2022 I know its just a new roof. But it can be a thing of beauty.
