19.01.2022 North Stradbroke island or Straddie as the locals call it was a surreal experience. From wheeling our buggies to the ferry, to being carted to the course in buses and utes, to a local welcome and you have an experience like no other. The club only has 60 members and only volunteers working the course. Somehow each year they manage to raise $15,000 for an event and are looking to turn this into a two-day event. Nigel Lane fellow pro (who came second in the event with a 71) a...nd I played with locals Alan and David. They do love "island life". Next year I'm definitely going to stay a few days and not just pop in and out for the tournament. As for my golf, a couple of unplayable lies, both on the same hole and a few too many three putts had me signing for 6 over. Not good golf but still had a ripper of a day. Back to the Gold Coast with Richard and a pub feed and the T20 on the telly. Slept well for sure! Off to Noosa on Sunday and a few more events. Chat later.

15.01.2022 Having left home on the 1st of March and playing 7 events in 10 days on the Legends Tour, decided to play another 8 rounds of golf in the following 10 days. This time playing the pro-am series with the flat bellies travelling from Echuca to Bendigo through the Riverina, playing Leeton, Griffith, Yenda and ending in Wagga. Yep the everywhere man. Great fun seeing the towns and cities I ordinarily would not have visited, meeting great people and playing some fun golf courses. ...The country folk do pro-ams so well, often it is the highlight of their golfing calendar. During my travels I caught up with some ex-Pymble players in, Sam Newbrun, Luke Humphries, James Purcell and Alex Pity (PGC record holder for eating the most mini pavlovas - 9) I had a couple of top 10's, missed money in only two events and the highlight was definitely the first round of 66 at Wagga. NSW Open qualifier on Monday then a rest until we head to Adelaide mid April. Chat later.

15.01.2022 Noosa Pro Am at Noosa Golf Club and got to play with Allan Harris, Peter Buhk and Shane Taylor (tried to tag you guys as requested but couldn't get it to work). Felt like a normal Saturday comp at home with bets flying everywhere and some impressive needling. Pete and I were 5 down through 6 holes off the back of an awesome start from Shane who plays off 19 (by the way I'd tour the world with him off 19). Some good doubling and pressing and we got ourselves all square by t...he end of the day. Felt like winning. Speaking of Pymble Golf Club, Billy Gardiner who now resides at Noosa Springs came to watch some of the golf and walked 5 holes with me. Good to see you Billy and we'll definitely catch up with you at Noosa Springs next year for a drink or 6. Usual suspects up on the podium Brad Burns, Peter Fowler and youngster Andre Stolz all with 5 under par. I got off to a slow start and was 3 over par through 11 holes, very happy with the rally of 3 birdies in the next 7 holes to finish all square. Thanks to the Sponsors again especially One Agency, Grant and Tash. Tournaments have been light on this year so very grateful for what you chaps have done for us. Twin Waters next stop. Chat later.

11.01.2022 Winner, winner - chicken dinner. My first 60 on tour and got to share the win with Adam Revai. Truth be told it was a sweepstakes event at Bondi Golf Club (par 56) which given Covid restrictions and Sydney being a hotspot had only three of us enter. With 30 km/h winds and very testing small greens it was a great challenge. It was my first game at Bondi and I will definitely be back. If you are looking to sharpen your mid-iron game and chipping in a variety of conditions, then this is the place. Good news that Queensland is now open for Sydney travellers, so 4 tournaments left up there before Christmas. Chat later.

09.01.2022 Portsea is one of the events on our calendar I always look forward to. The course is always immaculate, tight layout with elevated firm and fast greens that require precision. Probably the reason why David Mackenzie won today with 6 under par. I had 75 which got last money (beer money), but the score didn't reflect the ball striking and it was definitely one of those days sent to test my patience and resilience. I passed by the way. Fortunately the group we had were awesome..., John, Andy and fellow pro David Diaz. Not sure who got the most laughs David's witty and dry sense of humour or John's polished delivery of jokes, close to one a hole. Buggered after the last 3 days, so quick stop at the local kebab shop a couple Greg Norman's (Great Northerns) and watching Australia smash New Zealand in the T20. Chat later.

07.01.2022 Oh so close at Twin Waters Pro Am. Actually, two shots in it but did think given the breezy conditions and course set up that 3 under 69 would go close to a "W". The course was mint with the fairways really tight and the couch rough just that gnarly depth. Miss a green and you had to work bloody hard for a par. Rewind a few days and I left sunny Noosa to stay with my mate Glenn and Carolyn in very sunny Twin Waters. No idea why they call this place the Sunshine Coast!! C...ouple of days of practice at Twin Waters and Maroochy River and we were rearing to go. Played with fellow pro Andre Stolz and also sponsors from Cricks Nambour, Dan Hunt and his mate Nathan Osbourne. There was a fourball in conjunction and Andre and Dan got off to a flyer having 7 birdies in the first 9 holes between them. Nathan and I however got 'em, finishing strongly with 24 points on the back 9 to finish in the prizes. Lots of rain predicted for the next 2 days so not sure if Maroochy River will be playable for our last event of 2020 on Sunday. Chat later.

05.01.2022 Moama Masters, 2 day event at Rich River with the local bowling Club being one of the big sponsors. It was great to walk in on day 1 to find out I was playing with amateurs from Murray Downs, Mick and Mag. We played together a couple of years ago at Murray Downs so was awesome to catch up with them again. Next time it'll be at Murray Downs I am hoping. I love that golf course. The scoring was really good, my 71 and 72 got me a total of 1 under and 15th Spot. Leaders were a...t 9 under. Very steady golf with only 4 bogies in 36 holes, I needed lots more birdies or even things with big wings to catch the leaders. That's it on the Legends tour until Adelaide mid April, I am however continuing to scour the Victorian and NSW countryside playing in some PGA (flat belly) events. Start tomorrow at Axedale and Neanger Park in Bendigo followed by 2 days at Leeton then Griffith, Yenda and 2 days at Wagga to finish. They call me the everywhere man. Chat later.

05.01.2022 One of the great things playing the Legends tour are the places you get to travel to and the people you get to meet. We left a freezing cold Melbourne on our way to the Murray River and stopped in Sunbury then headed to Cohuna. Who's been to Cohuna? Who knew a place existed called Cohuna? Who would love to tell everyone they were born in Cohuna? Me, Me!!! We had a wonderful night there being hosted by Dennis and Wendy, beers, bed and breakfast were all first class. Thank yo...u. The next day we headed to Moama, bordertown on the Murray with sister town in VIC called Echuca. This is where we will be bunkering down for a few nights, first to play the Victorian Seniors Foursomes championships then the Moama Masters at Rich River golf course. As defending champions Glenn Joyner and I were keen for a repeat but newly turned 50 year olds, Andre Stoltz and Michael Long got the better of us and the field, shooting 7 under. Our 2 under was good enough for third place. Couple of days now in the same spot is great. Actually get to unpack and hang things up. It's a luxury. Chat later.

03.01.2022 Spent the weekend on the Gold Coast practicing, swimming and just generally enjoying the sunshine, thanks Richard. Drove up to the Sunshine Coast and am now staying with Jane, Julie, Seb, Paavo and Franchesca in Tewantin. Lovely spending family time as always. Breakfast this morning a koala was spotted in the backyard. I ran down with camera like a true tourist. Check the photos - I got the shot. Noosa Sweepstakes today and I had Seb caddying, played with my mate Glenn Joy...ner and Grant Baker and wife Tash from One Agency Noosa. Great story for all those of you starting out in golf, Grant was playing off 22 three years ago and today was playing off 1. Lots of dedication, practice and yoga is the secret he tells me. I had 3 birdies, 1 bogey for 2 under, to finish 2nd. 3 under 69 won the day. Dinner at Mister Drifter tonight, then the Noosa pro am tomorrow. Chat later.
