25.01.2022 There's a great fortnight of hands-on activities and fun learning at the Guyra library during the school holidays.

25.01.2022 Guyra’s main street is getting a new mural and residents are invited to help finalise the design. A community poll begins today inviting residents to choose bet...ween two concept designs for the mural, which will feature on several structures and is part of the Guyra main street upgrade. Both concepts are based on illustrations created by Guyra Central School students, depicting wildlife and livestock that call the area home.

22.01.2022 Work begins next week to seal a 1.4km section of Rockvale Road, to improve traffic safety and enhance the route as a northern regional link from Armidale. The $...1.2 million project is the second of two stages to upgrade and seal the final 3.5 kilometres near the Inverell to Ebor Road intersection. There will be some traffic restrictions from 30 November. https://www.armidaleregional.nsw.gov.au//rockvale-road-sea See more

14.01.2022 Guyra Swimming Pool and Monckton Aquatic Centre will reopen next week, with a detailed COVID-Safety plan in place to keep the community safe.

14.01.2022 Caps off to everyone using the Return and Earn stations in the Armidale region. We’re approaching a total of eight million containers returned to the reverse vending machines at Guyra Bowling Club, the Armidale Central shopping centre and Armidale Waste Transfer Station. Our community’s fantastic use of the local Return and Earn stations so far has diverted 612 cubic metres of waste from landfill. That equates to 9433 full wheelie bins, saving 9160 litres of water and 1167 tonnes of CO2. Council is a proud supporter of the Return and Earn program - an initiative of the NSW Environment Protection Authority by assisting with locations and promotion of the stations.

10.01.2022 Guyra Preschool and Long Day Care Centre children enjoyed a visit from Aboriginal community members last week for a NAIDOC celebration. Several Aboriginal women were guests for the NAIDOC Week event, which included arts and crafts and a COVID-safe morning tea. They chose a winner for the children’s NAIDOC colouring-in competition and one of the guests, Nellie Blair, led a story time by reading the book How the Frog Found Her Name. The preschool holds a NAIDOC Week each year to help expose the children to a variety of cultural experiences. They learn about Indigenous traditions, pastimes and cultures and develop an attitude of inclusiveness.

08.01.2022 Designs are being finalised to replace the powerlines in Bradley Street, which will be a key step in the Guyra main street upgrade. The new power infrastructure..., including new timber power poles and a reduced number of power lines across Bradley Street, will further improve safety and the appearance of the town's central business district. https://www.armidaleregional.nsw.gov.au//powerline-replace See more

07.01.2022 Guyra Pool will be closed to the public this Sunday because of a disruption to the electricity supply. The scheduled disruption, from 8.30am to 3.30pm, will leave the pool without water filtration during this time. Guyra Pool is open from 10.30am to 5.30pm on Saturday and will be welcoming patrons back from 6.30am on Monday morning.

06.01.2022 A new purpose-built and larger Guyra Early Childhood Learning Centre (ECLC) moved a step this week, when Wednesday's Council Meeting approved the site for the f...acility. A development application for the new centre - guided by community feedback, best-practice guidelines for the industry and initial traffic studies - is set to be advertised publicly from Wednesday 30 September. Thanks to everyone who participated in the community survey on the centre design. Results from the survey can be viewed on our Your Say Armidale website. https://yoursay.armidale.nsw.gov.au/1new-guyra-early-childh https://www.armidaleregional.nsw.gov.au//early-childhood-l See more
