23.01.2022 Today some special students and staff from Fairvale Public School received awards - here is a video I sent them to congratulate them. COVID-19 restrictions prevent me from being at Fairvale Public School today but I wanted to congratulate the recipients of the Guy Zangari Encouragement Award and the teachers who received an award for long service; and also wishing the departing Year 6 class of 2020 all the very best for high school next year. 23.01.2022 Today begins Diwali, the Indian festival of lights. Diwali is one of the most popular festivals on the Hindu calendar and will continue for the next five days. This festival is the perfect opportunity to celebrate life - to celbrate the victory of light over darkness, goodness over evil and knowledge over ignorance.... To all my Hindu friends, I wish you all a Happy Diwali and joy and prosperity in the future.
22.01.2022 On Saturday I was welcomed by the CNA-Italian Australian Services for the official opening of the Multicultural Community Garden in Bossley Park. I was accompanied by my Parliamentary colleagues the Hon. Anne Stanley MP, Federal Member for Werriwa and Dr Hugh McDermott, State Member for Prospect. This project could not have been possible without the assistance of Club Marconi through the Club Grants Program and Fairfield City Council.... Community gardens area great way for people to come together and share their skills and knowledge of all things gardening. They are also a means of providing fresh, affordable produce while at the same time allowing people to interact, socialise and work together. I would like to thank Mr Giovanni Testa MLO, President of the CNA-Italian Australian Services for welcoming us all on the day and i would like to wish all our gardeners the very best of luck with their produce.
20.01.2022 Recently I had the pleasure of attending the Celebration of Mercy Dinner hosted by the Rahma (Mercy) Association of Australia Inc. in Parliament House. The Celebration of Mercy Dinner is an annual event held to celebrate the birth of the Prophet Muhummad. At this year’s COVID-safe event, I was joined by my parliamentary colleagues, The Leader of the Opposition Ms Jodi McKay MP, Parliamentary Host the Hon. Shaoquett Moselmane MLC, President of the Legislative Council the Hon. ...Lou Amato MLC, Mr Jihad Dib MP, Ms Julia Finn MP and Ms Tania Mihailuk MP. Other distinguished guests included His Eminence Sheikh Azzam Mesto and Sheikh Youssef El Rich. I would like to thank Rahma Association President Mr Shady Elriche and Vice President Mr Ali Bahnassawi for bringing us all together to celebrate such an important occasion. This year has been a hard year for many communities in NSW with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting each and every one of us. The Quran states We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient so very apt given our recent circumstances. I am thankful we could all unite at this event and celebrate together once more. I look forward to many more such events in the future.

20.01.2022 COVID-19 HEALTH ALERT: There have been recent case of COVID-19 reported in the community. Although none of these cases area actually in the Fairfield electorate, the locations are places which are regularly visited by Fairfield residents.... If you have been to any of these places o these specific dates and times, you are considered a close contact and are urged to get tested and self-isolate.

16.01.2022 I recently moved a Notice of Motion in the NSW Parliament calling on the NSW State Government to provde assistance to local businesses for the added expenses they are incurring to make their businesses COVID-safe. Our local businesses have had a tough year without these added expenses draining their already-strained finances. It is time for theState Government to step up and help out.

09.01.2022 I recently had the great honour of attending the grand opening of local business VVIP Cleaning Australia, joined by my colleague Hugh McDermott MP: State Member for Prospect. A local company, VVIP Cleaning Australia is a residential and commercial cleaning service which caters to schools and businesses throughout NSW. We were lucky enough to be treated to a tour of the store and the equipment used by the VVIP Cleaning Australia team by director Anmar Desho .... I would like to offer my congratulations to the team at VVIP Cleaning Australia and wish them all the best in the future of their business.
07.01.2022 Last Saturday I had the great pleasure of cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony of the new church hall at the Church of Christ, Fairfield. After extensive renovations, carried out with funds granted as part of the Community Building Partnership fund, the hall is now ready to host the many activities which will be held under its roof for parishioners. I was extremely humbled to see the community come together for this important event and I would like to thank the Reverend... Edward Royal and his parishioners for their hospitality on the day. I wish them all the very best of luck with any future events in the hall and I thank them all for the hard work they have put into assisting refugees as part of their ministry. I look forward to visiting again soon!

04.01.2022 World Teacher's Day is a day when we recognise the time and effort these special people put in to educate our children. This year has been a tough one for our teachers who have had to shift to top gear to make this happen. From one former educator to all the teachers out there - we thank you!
03.01.2022 At the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month the guns fell silent on the Western Front to mark the end of World War 1. It was to be the war to end all wars, unfortunately this never happened. Today I along with members of the Fairfield community joined in with Cabra-Vale Diggers to commemorate Remembrance Day in a virtual setting. Thank you to Mr Michael Foukes and the organising committee for presenting a solemn service.... Lest We Forget.

02.01.2022 Today I attended a celebration in honour of grandparents with la Festa dei Nonni or Grandparents Day at Club Marconi. Grandparents Day celebrates the important role played by grandparents within families and society in general. Our lives are so busy these days and taking the time out to recognise our nonni or grandparents sends a positive message uniting generations of children, parents and grandparents....
