21.01.2022 Discuss the Tatura Energy Opportunity Study with us! The Tatura Energy Opportunity Study has been completed with the final report being delivered to the Study Group recently. Members of the Study Group will be at Stuart Mock Place on Saturday February 28th from 10am-12 midday, and Friday March 13 from 10.00am to 2.00pm to provide an overview of the Study findings. The Study commenced in August last year, in response to Taturas energy supply being at capacity, and limiting ex...pansion of industry in Tatura. The key aspect of the Study was to assess ways of increasing energy supply to Tatura using renewable sources. One of the key findings of the Study is a substantial projected increase in the demand for electricity of between 30-35 MW over the next five years. As a result of the report, the Study Group has endorsed GV Community Energy (GVCE) to establish a community-based group, the Tatura Energy Group, which will initially be under the guidance of GVCE. The Study identified four key programs: Energy Management, Energy Efficiency, Alternative Energy and Sustainable Future. These programs will create opportunities for our industries, businesses and residents to work together in areas such as reducing power costs, implementing new technologies to use less energy, utilising alternative energy sources such as bio, solar and hydro energy, and converting industry and household waste into other energy sources. Ian Bertram from Resource Resolution says The development of this report is an important step in bringing industry and the community together to create a practical and secure energy future for Tatura. Marisa OHalloran from Transition Tatura says We now have a strong understanding of the energy requirements and constraints of our town, and areas to target for the future which is all very exciting. A brochure highlighting recommendations from the report is currently being developed. The Study was led by GV Community Energy, and was funded through Regional Development Victoria with local industry partners. For further information and to view the final report, visit http://www.gvce.com.au/ or contact Geoff Lodge at GVCE on 5826 2513.

19.01.2022 A beautiful sunny winter day can produce a lot of solar power. For those of you fortunate enough to have a solar power system today is a great day to check your system is working. Go out now and check the lights are on and the system is producing. Write down the total your system has made to date and then at the same time tomorrow check the total again. Then do your sums, take the two totals away from each other and the difference is what the system has made over the twenty-four hours.

16.01.2022 This morning I can feel winter coming on. It is a reminder to have your heaters checked to ensure they are safe to use, particularly if they are gas. Better safe than sorry. A well maintained appliance will also save on running costs.

05.01.2022 A tip for saving electricity: Your refrigerator is on all the time and can use a considerable amount of power if it is on an incorrect setting. Your fridge temperature should be at 5 C or below. The freezer temperature should be below -15 C. Use a thermometer to check the temperature in your fridge. The fridge will work more efficiently if it is full therefore we suggest householders to store bottles of (tap) water to fill spaces

03.01.2022 Just a quick reminder to all the Solar PV owners in Facebook land to check your inverter is working. On such as sunny day it would be a pity not to be producing power. If the inverter lights aren't on attempt a reset as it may restart. If it doesn't contact your supplier to find out how you can have a service call. INVERTER RESET INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Turn off the AC Solar Supply main Switch located in switchboard. ... 2. Turn off the DC PV Array Isolator (Two switches/breakers located on front of the Inverter) 3. Wait about 30 seconds 4. Turn ON DC PV Array Isolator (Two switches/breakers located on front of the Inverter) 5. Turn ON AC Solar Supply main Switch located in switchboard. The lights on the front of the inverter should now flash and the inverter will go into start-up mode. If the inverter does not reset contact your supplier May the sun continue to shine on your life.

It is planned that the report will be released at the end of January.
