24.01.2022 We'll be carrying out some smoke testing on our sewer networks in Kialla on Friday to help us identify any potential odour issues so we can continue to improve our services. The oil we use to generate the smoke is non-toxic and completely harmless, and is not a fire hazard. Please don't be alarmed if you notice smoke coming from sewer man holes, gutter connections, sewer vent stacks or inspection openings near properties where we're testing along sections of Gordon Drv, Cooper Place, Mokoan Ave, Kiewa Crt and Mitta Crt. Testing will run from 9am to 5pm and we’ve notified all affected residents. More information available here: https://www.gvwater.vic.gov.au/service-interruptions

22.01.2022 Happy #WaterwiseWednesday! To save water, wait until your dishwasher or washing machine is full before turning it on - and if it has an eco-mode, make sure that's selected! Most dishwashers don't need you to pre-rinse dishes either - just scrape any leftovers into the organics or normal bin! Every drop counts - together, we can save a lot of water! For more tips, visit: gvwater.vic.gov.au/everydropcounts

21.01.2022 Shepparton High Rate Anaerobic Lagoon cover removal project update We're more than a quarter of the way through installing the new cover at the Shepparton Wastewater Management Facility's 5ha lagoon. We're on track to complete the installation over the lagoon's high reactivity zone in the next couple of weeks. Watch our video below to see how the cover installment is progressing! You can also find all the latest project updates here: https://bit.ly/2UbaDCD

20.01.2022 Our water main replacement works are continuing in Euroa near Seven Creeks Park, where we're installing a new section of 280mm-diameter main via a technique called horizontal directional drilling - a trenchless, minimal impact option. We've bored and pulled the pipe through in Kirkland Avenue and will be starting soon on a section under the creek - we've been working with the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority to ensure the right depth to protect the creek environment. The bores will be drilled progressively larger to allow the pipe to be pulled through early next week. Please be careful around the works and follow any traffic management requirements - we're sorry for any inconvenience!

20.01.2022 With temperatures set to soar in the next couple of days, remember to stay hydrated! Pop a jug of water in the fridge, and remember to take a reusable water bottle out with you. Did you know that it only takes a 1% drop in your body's water levels to affect your concentration, mood and energy levels?

19.01.2022 What a difference a year (and a bit) can make! These two photos show our Sunday Creek reservoir the first is from March 2019, where the storage level was only at 13% and Stage 2 water restrictions were about to be introduced. The second, taken last week, shows the reservoir at 100% capacity and spilling (the first time in nearly four years!) great news ahead of warmer summer months and predicted increase in demand. In the past couple of years, we’ve been doing a lot o...f work behind the scenes to improve the security of the water supply for the Kilmore region, including new supplementary pumped supplies and network leak detection initiatives. Reservoir storage levels are updated regularly and can be found here: www.gvwater.vic.gov.au/water/water-resources

Works have already begun on the $5.5 million project, which will see the 3.4km main upgraded to a larger, almost 1m-diameter pipe to help ensure capacity to manage any increase in flows resulting from potential residential or industrial growth. 14.01.2022 This story comes from across the Pacific Ocean, but it's still every bit as relevant here - don't flush wipes down the toilet Even if they say they're flushable, they're often not, and will cause costly blockages in the sewer system. Only flush the 3 Ps - pee, poo and toilet paper - only toilet paper will break down quickly when it's flushed!

14.01.2022 Always Was Always Will Be Yesterday marked the beginning of #NAIDOCWeek for 2020. 11.01.2022 It's World Toilet Day today, a day to celebrate our humble household porcelain throne But did you know more than 4.2 billion people don't have access to safely managed sanitation systems like we have in Australia? This year, the theme for the United Nations' World Toilet Day is sustainable sanitation and climate change. Climate change is getting worse and floods, drought and rising sea levels are threatening sanitation systems - from septic tanks to treatment plants. Everyone needs sustainable sanitation that can withstand climate change and keep communities healthy and functioning. Want to learn more? Visit https://www.worldtoiletday.info/

11.01.2022 When you change your clocks for daylight savings this weekend, remember to check the clock and timers on your automatic sprinklers! Consider how long you really need to run the sprinklers for watering for longer and less often helps encourage plants to grow drought-tolerant root systems. Check what kind of sprinklers you have for example, pop up/fixed spray systems generally only need to run between 10-15 minutes. Turn them off if there’s rain forecast in the next couple of days. With more than 50% of household water being used outdoors, running your sprinklers less can save plenty of water! Remember, every drop counts!

01.01.2022 Water supply interruption - Seven Creeks Park toilet block, Euroa We're almost finished the water main replacement works at Euroa, despite a minor delay when we encountered a sand layer on the northern side of the creek. To connect the new water main, we'll need to turn the water off to a small section of the nearby area - we'll let affected customers know via text and a notice in their letter box. However, this will also mean there's no water from 9am to 1.45pm on Monda...y (November 30) at the toilet block at Seven Creeks Park - we're really sorry for any inconvenience! Signage will be placed at the block to remind people on the day. : Works underway at Seven Creeks Park

01.01.2022 Sludge, sludge, and.. more sludge? Works are progressing well on the project to replace the cover on the High Rate Anaerobic Lagoon at the Shepparton Wastewater Management Facility. The old cover has been fully removed, the concrete edge beam has been replaced and repaired, while works at the inlet will continue over coming weeks.
