22.01.2022 Stage 3 of our ‘Behind the Meter’ solar project has started and phase one is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Twelve roof-mounted solar systems and one ground-mounted solar site will generate up to 151 kilowatts of emissions-free power, replacing most of the grid-sourced energy needed to operate 10 GWMWater pump stations and three office / depot locations. 19.01.2022 UPDATE: Do Not Drink Notice - Manangatang 3.50 pm 27 November 2020 This Do Not Drink Notice still applies until further notice.... Tank cleaning is now complete and the network has been flushed. GWMWater has collected samples of the water for testing to confirm the untreated water has been removed. Normal water supply will resume once results verify that the water is safe for drinking. Please minimise outside water use where possible while we build up enough supply for the town. Bottled water is available from outside the Manangatang Shop from 6pm until 8pm. Access to drinking water trailers is available from outside: The Manangatang shop The hospital; and The swimming pool When bringing containers for filling, please be mindful to protect your back and carry only as much water as you can comfortably manage. We will keep customers informed as the situation changes. Please share this advice with neighbours and friends in Manangatang. ********* As a precaution, we are advising customers in Manangatang to not drink tap drinking water until further notice. This precautionary action is in the interests of protecting public health. While this do not drink tap water alert is in place GWMWater is requesting customers do not use the current water supply for drinking, preparing beverages, washing and preparing food, preparing baby formula, brushing teeth or making ice. In this instance, boiling water will not remove contaminants. This advice has been issued following consultation with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) after raw water inadvertently entered the clear water storages at Manangatang’s Water Treatment Plant. A drinking water trailer and bottled water is available from outside the Manangatang Shop. We apologise for any inconvenience and we will keep customers informed as the situation changes. 18.01.2022 Farmers and agricultural experts can test the latest on-farm technology at Longerenong Innovation Centre, forming part of what will be an AgTIDE DATA farm; a 100-hectare, digitally enabled demonstration farm. Currently going through a detailed design phase, the farm will host sensors and devices that allow detailed data to be collected and used for on-farm planning and decision-making. GWMWater has been working collaboratively supporting the working group with procurement, and Information Communications Technology expertise.

17.01.2022 There were cheers as Yaapeet’s Macy Fuller and GWMWater Board Member Caroline Welsh turned the tap on to fill the newly constructed Yaapeet Lake. To mark the official opening of the new recreation lake in Yaapeet, GWMWater hosted a celebratory event on Monday 21 December 2020. The storage site at Yaapeet had been redundant since the completion of the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline but, now filling with water, will become a vibrant space for wildlife, locals and visitors to enjoy. As a precaution, it is recommended that customers flush internal taps for two minutes to draw fresh water through internal plumbing. Water quality monitoring confirms that the water is safe to drink from the tap and use as normal after internal flushing.... Please minimise outdoor water use while the storages re-fill. 08.01.2022 Happy #NationalWaterWeek! Each year, we call on students from across the GWMWater operational area to send us posters as part of a National Water Week Poster competition. This inspires children to get creative and think about the importance of water. This year, the theme was ‘Reimagining Our Water Future’. We had nine schools take part with close to 200 poster entries received! Our winning entries also did very well at state level receiving two thirds and a second! Congratulations to all participants we very much enjoyed sorting through all your creative and educational posters. 07.01.2022 The proposed pipe alignments for Zones 2 and 3 of the East Grampians Rural Pipeline project are now available. Your new urban meter will transfer your water usage data to us digitally and will improve our ability to respond to water usage enquiries and streamline billing processes. 05.01.2022 GWMWater installed a pressure booster pump station at Marnoo in August to provide additional pressure from the tank supplying urban customers. Pressure will be gradually increased over time to reduce the likelihood of breaks occurring. Similar works in Birchip, Stawell and Edenhope are underway, while projects in Elmhurst, Ararat and Glenorchy are expected to commence later this year. Customers can report issues with their water or sewage services any time using our difficulties and faults line on 1800 188 586.

05.01.2022 We are pleased to advise that campgrounds at GWMWater reservoirs are now open, subject to public health measures. Camping is permitted in regional Victoria under step three of the road map to COVID Normal, subject to gathering restrictions and social bubbles. This means you can camp with the people you live with, your intimate partner, or the household you have formed a bubble with (your household can book campsites with up to five members of your bubble household). Communal... facilities such as toilets and boat ramps remain open for visitors from regional Victoria. Physical distancing and outdoor gathering requirements apply at all times including at the boat ramp and on your boat. Please note, masks are always required to be worn while outdoors at campsites, unless eating, drinking, smoking (if permitted), or if you have a lawful exemption from wearing one. Step 1 to reopening applies to residents of metropolitan Melbourne. 04.01.2022 We’ve improved water quality in Harrow! Customers are reaping the rewards of better water quality to use for domestic purposes, such as showering, laundry and garden watering. New storage tanks have been built for water to be pumped directly into, before being delivered through Harrow’s water mains to customers’ taps.

03.01.2022 Our very own Dr Suzy McDonald and Matthew Kube were recognised at a national level for their contribution to the water industry in recent months. OzWater is Australia’s international water conference and trade exhibition, run by the Australian Water Association (AWA). Both Suzy and Matthew presented at this year’s event which was hosted online. Suzy, our Water Treatment Technologist, presented a podcast which provided an overview of a scientific study on the properties of w...ater meters. Water Quality Process Officer, Matthew Kube, presented a five-minute ‘Thirst Quencher’ and will also be presenting at the AWA Australian/National Student Water Prize in July.
