21.01.2022 Throwback (and Thankful!) Thursday Im missing the Gym! I cant wait to get back there and see everyones smiling faces and very excited to see all the development gains you have made! Im very thankful to be home and safe though and love that we can still bring you GymbaROO at home. Have you made an obstacle course for your Little Ones yet? Theyre super easy! Climb under a table, over the toy box, through a cardboard box, jump off a chair and step on the cushion steppi...ng stones - dont fall onto the lava floor! Obstacle courses at home really help their spatial awareness, knowing where they are in space and where everything around them is. You dont need any fancy equipment, you can use absolutely everything you have at home and make them as simple or adventurous as youd like ~ be creative!

17.01.2022 *Tuesday Tunes* There are so many actions you can try with this one: hands are hammering; hands are tapping; head is nodding; feet are stamping. What are some other actions you could use? Our Little Ones learn patterns of movement from watching, listening and then doing. This helps with writing when they get to school because their ears, eyes and hands will work together in a coordinated way.

17.01.2022 Wishing you all the best things for 2021

17.01.2022 Pom Pom Sort Items needed: * Egg carton/muffin tin * Pom Poms... * Tongs or tweezers for older children Sort the pom poms into tin by colour. Talk about the colours with your Little Ones and you can even go and find other objects that are the same colour! Older children can use tongs or tweezers to pick the pom poms up. If your younger child is yet to fully understand colours, even moving them back and forth is a fantastic finger pinching exercise! You can also count the pom poms and sort by size as well. For our Babies, you can give them a massage with the soft balls while you tell them what part of their body youre massaging.

15.01.2022 Singing songs and rhymes with actions is a multi-sensory activity for our children by engaging senses such as visual, auditory, touch and movement. Its working on language development, gross and fine motor skills, coordination, body awareness, rhythmic proficiency and auditory discrimination. Theres so much learning and development to be made with simple, fun rhymes and songs. ... Open Shut Them is a great one for our toddlers and pre-schoolers but you can sing it to younger children and babies as well, you can turn it into an exercise or massage routine for younger ones also. What rhymes do you enjoy with your Little Ones?

Move forwards and backwards as well as side to side. Suitable for babies right through to bigger kids - as long as you can hold them up!... This is a great activity for the vestibular system. The ability to sit still shows a mature vestibular system, which is developed through movement! Movement is the Key to Learning! Take them on an aeroplane ride today

12.01.2022 Tummy-Time Tuesday! Place a couple cups of water beads into a large snap lock bag and masking tape the four sides to a lightweight chopping board. Your Baby can move the beads around inside the bag for lots of fun while theyre on their tummy! (Supervision always needed when using water beads, even in a bag) Tummy time develops strong neck and shoulder muscles as well as chest and tummy muscles. And its the foundation of all their movements. Love the floor! Think of it as ...their (and your!) ultimate playground! Water beads in a bag arent only for babies, tape the bag to a window for fun with your older Little Ones as well!

Bubble Mix: 6 cups water 1 cup dishwashing liquid ... 1 tablespoon glycerin You can use plastic cups, funnels, plastic drink bottles or pipe cleaners for bubble wands. Bubbles are great for their vision development and when theyre reaching out to pop them, theyre working on their hand-eye coordination. A great activity to do at home!

05.01.2022 Balloon Fun Hang a balloon in the doorway and your Little One can have hours of fun hitting and kicking it. It works on their hand-eye (and foot-eye!) coordination, visual development, motor planning and balance as they move their body. Balloons are lighter than balls so easier to catch for toddlers. If youre worried about it popping, the balloon covers (as pictured) are perfect.... If you have a baby, lower the balloon and lie them underneath it. 02.01.2022 Movement Monday Wrestle with your Little Ones! Roughhousing play pillow fights, wrestling, rolling around on the floor or bed, it all has so many benefits to the physical, emotional and brain development of our children. Drs Anthony T. DeBenedet and Lawrence J. Cohen co-wrote the book The Art of Roughhousing: Good Old-Fashioned Horseplay and Why Every Kid Needs It.... We teach them self-control, fairness and empathy. We let them win, which gives them confidence and demonstrates that winning isnt everything. We show them how much can be accomplished by cooperation, and how to constructively channel competitive energy so that it doesnt take over. And while this YouTube vid is aimed at Dads, its a great video on why roughhousing is such a great play activity to do with your children and Mums can do it too!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0Lerbebrdc So get down on the floor with them and roll around!
