25.01.2022 GBC Updates | 25 September 2020: Marc is on leave until Mon 19 Oct, Tuesday Prayer Focus, Young Adults virtual ConnectGroup, job opportunity with GBC Serve Team Leader. Enjoy your weekend & we'll see you on Sunday!

24.01.2022 Numbers 6:24-26

23.01.2022 A new job opportunity is available at GBC for an Assistant to the Operations Manager. The role is 2 days per week, you'll be working with a great team & have flexibility! A Role Description + further details can be found on your Home Page of our GBC Links internal hub. Expressions of interest to be submitted before 5:00pm on Friday 13 November 2020.

22.01.2022 Hey church! Today we meet Rhonda Montgomery, who has been part of this faith community for 30 years. She is one of our GBC Elders & has an incredible passion for people & prayer because everybody has a story & I love sitting & listening to people's stories. Almost everyone is willing to tell you their story & this often gives me an opportunity to share the love of Jesus in these conversations. She extends this passion to the wider community where she was a volunteer chapla...in for 6 years at Sutherland Hospital prior to the pandemic. She works part-time at Woolooware Shores as pastoral counsellor & this role gives her opportunities to share the love of Jesus to many who are undertaking huge life changes such as unexpected retirement, breakdown of health, financial difficulties & loss of loved ones. She is Nanna to seven grandchildren and these little lives bring lots of joy and laughter into her world for which she is very thankful. Rhonda has been part of a LifeGroup for 28 years & for 24 of those years she was a leader. This group has become her family because they share, laugh, occasionally cry, pray together and see God answer those prayers. She says this is where we are honest about where we are in our walk with Jesus in a safe loving environment & we are all there to encourage each other as we grow in our understanding of who God is and His will for our lives. During this season she believes that God is teaching me that this life is short & there are many ways to squander it but only one way to redeem it. Love Jesus with my whole life and love Him above all else. One of her favourite Bible verses is Ephesians 1:13 & her prayer for the GBC family is that we will continually seek ways to show the love of Jesus in our local community by our conversations, our acts of kindness and our love for each other. I love my GBC family! Rhonda, we are thankful that YOU are the church! #wearethechurch #lovemygbcfamily

21.01.2022 Did you notice in our GBC Online Service 27/9/20 that Marc used an alphabetical acrostic (A-Z) to expand on Psalm 25, which is also structured as an acrostic in the Hebrew alphabet? Intruiged? ...here's the brief overview! Listen to the sermon here: https://www.gymeabaptist.org.au/sermons/ Watch the service via our GBC YouTube: https://bit.ly/GymeaBaptistYouTube... #sneakyacrostic #onpurpose

18.01.2022 It's going to be around 40 degrees this Sunday! So stay cool inside & join us online for our GBC Annual General Meeting #1 this Sunday 12:30pm 29 November 2020 via Zoom. You can get the Zoom link & pre-read all the required information via the GBC Links home page (Senior Pastors Report, Deacons & Elders nominations etc.). An email has also been sent out to all adults that are on GBC Links with all the details. We will be voting on the 2021 budget, plus new Deacons & Elders - so it is essential we have sufficient numbers to vote. Digital doors open at 12pm ready for a 12:30pm start & we will be finished by 2pm at the latest. We look forward to seeing you there!

16.01.2022 We are the church! & over the past 70 years, it’s our volunteers that have brought to life the heart & soul of who we are. With recent changes in Australian Government legislation due to the Royal Commission, all churches and denominations are required to implement audit-able policies, training & practices to ensure the safety & wellbeing of vulnerable people. This means on-boarding & up-skilling all our volunteers from all ministry areas. You may have received a number of c...ommunications since early this year regarding this & we are urgently trying to finalise this for all our volunteers wishing to serve moving forward. This is especially critical as we make plans to re-start face to face service gatherings - as all our volunteers must go through this process. On Wednesday 2nd December 2020, Matt Willis will be running three Induction Workshops (10:30am, 3:30pm & 7:30pm). He will assist you through the Screening Questions, facilitate the induction training material & provide the appropriate Code of Conduct that you need to sign. All up, it should only take 45-60 minutes. You can register for one of the workshops through GBC Links on the home page or call the GBC Office: (02) 9521 4611. One of our GBC values is to be trust-worthy: known as consistent, safe and non-anxious & this is an opportunity for us to embrace this value. We need all our volunteers to be compliant with these new policies & would love your support in doing this. If you are unsure where you’re up to in this process, or need further information - call the GBC Office (02) 9521 4611 & Matt will gladly assist you in taking your next step! Let’s do this together! #onpurpose #trustworthy #wholelifelearners #bighearted #othersfocused

16.01.2022 Hey Church! We believe that prayer is powerful & effective & this week, we are focusing on the health of each other. Let us know that you are joining in the comments below!

14.01.2022 Love this reflection from Baptist World Aid Australia on their mission exposure trip to Cambodia (March 2020) which three of our GBC community (Richard, Helen & John) had the privilege to learn from & be a part of.

14.01.2022 The HopeDrive is back! This Sunday bring something from the list with you to an OnSite Service for the HopeDrive.

12.01.2022 Today we meet Sonia Beresford, who has been part of GBC with her husband David & family since 1983. As one of our seven GBC Elders, she has been meeting with the team monthly to pray for people in our church. Before COVID-19 she was visiting people from our church in their homes or nursing homes and now she continues to coordinate the GBC Cares visitation & phone-call team. Add to that, each week she collates and respond to the prayer requests from our GBC Online Services, an...d any other spaces where people have expressed the desire to have others pray for them. These requests are also prayed over by the Prayer Team & Staff Team. Sonia's favourite bible verse is Philippians 1:6 - "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." She says that "I remember Jesus inviting me to be His child when I was young and so to know that He will keep working in me all through my life speaks of His love, commitment and purpose for me." Her prayer for our faith community is that "we hold firmly to the faith we profess no matter what happens to us or the world around us." Sonia, we are thankful that YOU are the church! #wearethechurch #lovemygbcfamily

12.01.2022 Today we meet Derek Mullins, who joined GBC in 1966 & has been actively involved with his family since. Of this season, Derek says I had quite a strong sense of loss because of the way COVID-19 prevented us from meeting together & sharing face-to-face in worship & fellowship. I was also concerned about the impact the pandemic was having on people. However, my overall experience has been one of thanksgiving. It’s also reinforced my understanding that God is all sufficient. He... is not limited by our personal circumstances but will always accomplish his purposes. I am secure in Him & have a certain hope for the future. As one of our GBC Elders, Derek has been called to the areas of pastoral care & spiritual leadership. I have been able to serve the GBC community as a LifeGroup leader & also in coordinating primary school Scripture. My main area of ministry has been intercessory prayer. Since we have been physically distancing, I have become more & more aware of the physical, emotional & spiritual needs of our GBC community. It has been a privilege to pray with & for those who have shared their circumstances with the Elders. In practical terms, I am spending more time praying for the church family than at any other time in my Christian life. Even so, I feel the need to do more & am looking forward to expanded opportunities for ministry as we appoint more Elders later in the year. The Bible verse that stands out (amongst many!) to Derek is Hebrews 12:1-2 & his prayer for our community is Lord, you give what we need as we need it. Your grace is available on time, for me, every single day. In all the challenges I face, your grace never departs. May I know this more and more. Amen. Derek, we are thankful that YOU are the church! #wearethechurch #lovemygbcfamily
