25.01.2022 With the HSC exams finishing yesterday, we wish to congratulate another amazing achievement from this year’s cohort. Nathalie M’s HSC Body of Work has been selected for the Arts Rules 2020 exhibition. Nathalie’s work will be on display at at Hazelhurst Gallery from Saturday 19th December 2020 to Sunday 17th January 2021. Congratulations Nathalie!

24.01.2022 Last week students celebrated NAIDOC week 2020. This years theme 'Always Was, Always Will Be’ sees teachers, students and the broader community explore, learn about, and appreciate the wealth and breadth of Indigenous Nations, languages and knowledges of this continent. At Gymea, a range of lessons were held across the school, including a PE lesson involving a traditional sporting game called Keetan from QLD, giving our students the opportunity to engage with the diversity of Aboriginal culture. We celebrate the strong connection with our Aboriginal students and many staff members who honour their Aboriginal heritage, together with all of our students and staff.

24.01.2022 Today, the Honourable Gladys Berejiklian, Premier of NSW and our local member, Eleni Petinos visited our school to view our students in action with technology. Our students presented to the NSW Premier, demonstrating how technology across the school is inspiring and engaging them, leading to success in their learning. We are very lucky at Gymea to boast some of the best technology facilities and learning spaces in the state, and we thank our special guests today for taking the time to visit with us. 16.01.2022 Today we commemorated Remembrance Day a little differently to allow the HSC to continue uninterrupted, with classes across the school running mini services and authentic history lessons. Thank you to our new Captain Harry and Vice Captain Emma for filming a short message about Remembrance Day accompanied by the ode, which was streamed into every classroom. This was followed with a minute silence being observed across the school. Thank you also to our HSIE department who delivered lessons today on the significance of the armistice and for exploring the symbolism behind the red poppies, leading our students to fill our hallways with this important symbol. Lest We Forget.

05.01.2022 An important announcement for our Gymea community: We’d like to wish our Principal, Mr Peter Marsh a speedy recovery as he heads off for surgery for thyroid cancer. After the roads he travelled four years back, we know he will come through this next challenge with the same strength and determination he showed last time. We look forward to him returning to work in a few weeks. Thank you to all in the community who have already shown support of Mr Marsh’s journey. We remember back to the overwhelming support shown for his participation in the fun run in 2017 for all those affected by similar obstacles. To all of our families who have travelled these challenging roads too, our thoughts are always with you.

05.01.2022 Congratulations to our Year 11 Hospitality students who completed a week of mandatory work placement this term with glowing reports from their host employers! A huge thank you to our community group partners The Ferros Group, The Shed Westfield and Jensens Kareela for hosting our excited students.

01.01.2022 Tonight we celebrate 13 years of schooling with a group who has certainly risen to the challenge of an interesting HSC year. To be able to achieve all you have is no mean feat so tonight is all about you. Congratulations Year 12! We are so proud of your continued drive and consistent application throughout this year.
