18.01.2022 Did you know it's National Recycling Week (9-15 November)? This year’s theme Recovery A Future Beyond the Bin explores how Australians can turn their waste into a valuable resource at home, school, work or in the community. There's a bunch of resources including ‘A Future Beyond the Bin Mini Guide’ which highlights the six steps you can take to transition to a future beyond the bin.

15.01.2022 A huge congratulations to the twelve #wildflowerwomen whose exhibition opened at Gympie Regional Gallery until November 28. Such a diverse mix of artforms celebrates the wildflowers of the Cooloola region. It also remembers two remarkable women in the 50's Kathleen McArthur and Judith Wright who pushed to preserve this area as National Park. Something we must thank them for today. I hope you enjoy this interview with curators Sue Davis and Nina Shadforth by Zela Bissett htt...ps://gympieliving.com.au/flowpaper/2020/October/ Judy Barrass Zela Bissett Joolie Gibbs Nicole Harper ART Anne Harris Barb Hart Maree Prior Sandra Ross Artist Meaghan Shelton Melissa Stannard Ulrike Sturm See more

14.01.2022 This year’s NAIDOC Week theme of ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’ is an invitation to all Australians to embrace the true history of our nation, a history dating back thousands of generations. The theme is recognition of the 65,000+ years of which First Nations peoples have occupied and cared for this continent and an acknowledgement of the spiritual and cultural connection Indigenous people have to the land. In this episode, you’ll hear from three respected figures within our communities, who have aided in the management and protection of Indigenous land and culture for future generations.

04.01.2022 Zela Bissett has the most amazing #permaculturegarden. From Sept. page 29 Crop rotation is not a new idea. It is documented that under the European feudal system, when peasants or bonded serfs tilled the land for their lord, different crops were sown in each field each year. It is a practice designed to use #soilnutrients economically, minimise pests and diseases and build healthy soil structure- all which will maximise yield, which as gardeners we all desire. As the weather warms, you can start to plant out the seeds of the Spring crops but keep them in pots or seed trays in a sheltered spot until there is space in the garden.
