20.01.2022 Thanks to all that have shot and helped make Gympie Pistol Club IPSC a success and a lot of fun over 2019. A couple of big thank yous, to Paul Dale, in his role as President he has supported our desire to grow, gain more equipment and to stay affiliated to IPSC Australia, to Greg Steinhardt for his knowledge and support in growing our skills, their banter and desire to win on the range is pretty good too. IPSC next year will be run from February to November and see the start of the monthly IPSC skills building day to be held on the first Sunday of the month followed by the IPSC competition shoot on the 3rd Sunday of the month. Hope to have your continued support in 2020 Happy shooting Chester

12.01.2022 Dear members and followers, After months of lobbying by the club executive, we are pleased to announce we have secured a funding promise from the Member for Gympie, Tony Perrett (LNP). Please see attached. Mr Perrett has committed to a $35,000 grant to the Gympie Pistol Club to help with our urgently needed range works and upgrades.... Our club committee or executive would never presume to tell you how to vote. However, if shooting sports are an important consideration for your vote, and you live in the Gympie electorate, we ask that you consider his commitment. Keep in mind that Tony Perrett is the ONLY LNP candidate recommended by the Queensland Shooters Union. Mr Perrett stood up for shooters in 2017 when he crossed the floor and voted against his own party regarding reclassification of the Adler A110 lever action shotgun. Mr Perrett stands alone in his party as a supporter of shooting sports and an advocate for evidence-based, sensible and fair gun laws. If you do not want to vote for Mr Perrett, keep in mind you can allocate him a 2nd, 3rd or further along preference if you'd like to do so - your preference flow is up to you, make up your own mind and don't listen to how-to-vote cards. We will be publishing a general guide to assist shooters wanting to cast a vote based on the importance of sports shooting in the coming days. Early voting starts from October 19, you will have some general information about party policies before then.
12.01.2022 Howdy Pardners, there will be no more Cowboy Action matches until February 2020, Happy Christmas to yawl.

09.01.2022 IPSC, Sunday 21st July,8-15am setup for a 9am start.
08.01.2022 Dear members and followers, As early voting begins for the 2020 QLD state election. We remind all licensed firearm owners to consider their votes carefully. Early voting starts Monday 19 October. Election day is Saturday 31 October. ... Queensland has no senate. This means that whichever party wins government can virtually pass any kind of legislation it wants. This is also the first election in which MPs will serve for four years. You won't be able to vote again until 2024. The Shooters Union of Australia have prepared a handy voting app that will tell you which candidates in your electorate will stand up for your rights to own and use firearms. Head to https://howtovoteprogun.com.au/ and follow the prompts or download the app if you'd like to. As mentioned before. We will never presume to tell you how to vote. You may consider other issues more important. However, please have a think about the gradual further restrictions shooters have faced over the years. These restrictions are not likely to halt unless MPs are elected who advocate for evidence based and fair gun laws. If you were planning to vote for a different candidate than whom is suggested, you might consider giving them a 2nd preference instead, although that is up to you. We wish all members and followers a smooth experience in this unprecedented election period. Please vote early or make a postal vote if you anticipate being busy on election day.
08.01.2022 To the sports shooting community protect our rights and send on to your local MP's etc, Your rights to purchase has been taken away under new Covid rules. Write... a letter to the authorities, see below. This has been outlined by a few shops for people on the farm fringe but not the rights of QLD sports shooters, fill in the couple of blanks copy and paste into an email and get heard. Dear "your honourable minister" name here, I am writing to you in reference to the QLD Health directive Non-essential business, activity and undertaking Closure Direction (No.4) . Under the new directive persons that are licensed Queensland firearms owners but do not hold the codes on their license that are mentioned in column 2 of the table are not allowed to purchase ammunition, gun powder or firearms. As the QLD Government would be aware, I am a law-abiding citizen that has held a Queensland firearms license for __?___ years. To attain and to hold this license I underwent criminal background checks, firearm safety training, abide by all safe storage requirements and abide by all laws dictated by the Commonwealth of Australia and the State of Queensland. Throughout this time I have played my part in the growth of the economy by my purchasing from legally owned and operated firearms retailers and participating in local and state run competitive shooting events. All ways abiding by my requirements as a licenced, conscientious, safe participant of the sport of shooting. Under the current ruling with the PP code (Primary production license code) that does not apply to me I am unable to continue to purchase items that I am legally approved to purchase by way of licencing. I would strongly suggest that the economy of this country is of great importance in a time of such uncertainties and my continued right to purchase items to participate in my chosen sport helps local business and it’s employees to remain viable in these hard times How can the government overlook this? It is a gross oversight and discriminatory against myself and all licensed shooters. Are golfers not allowed to buy golf clubs at this time, are car enthusiasts prevented from purchasing a new vehicle, I think not. These changes have been brought in by a state government that has not thought them through. Because of the codes on my license I am not allowed to do the following - Purchase ammunition. Purchase a new firearm to participate in my chosen sport. Collect gun powder to reload for the upcoming competition season. Get a firearm repaired. For which I use to compete. Do a like for like trade. Collect my firearms from a dealer / armourer that have been in safe storage. This attempt at taking our rights and needs away by the Labour government under the disguise of Covid 19 is an insult to my intelligence. The fact that the QLD government has labelled licensed firearms owners as potential domestic violence perpetrators is an insult to myself and all other licensed firearm owners in general. We have had to undergo rigorous checks to attain a Queensland firearms license. A local gun shop yesterday told me that they would be having to turn away / refuse sale to 8 out of 10 customers because of the current restrictions against them. This is no way supportive of assisting our economy and also a discriminatory action toward myself and all licensed shooters. As a Queensland voter I am extremely unhappy as to the claim of preventing possible domestic violence and the discrimination against me as a sports person pursuing a shooting sport. Yours Faithfully *insert name *

06.01.2022 Dear Members and followers; This post is lengthy but VERY IMPORTANT so please do read all of it. We are aware of licensees being contacted and checked by the Queensland Police Service (QPS) in the Gympie region. QPS are conducting safe storage checks, to see if you are storing your firearms in compliance with the relevant regulations. We take this opportunity to remind ALL firearms license holders to make sure they are compliant with the law and regulations in Queensland. Som...Continue reading
05.01.2022 Dear Members and followers, As you would be aware, all holders of Category H firearms licenses for the purpose of sports shooting must complete a set number of competition shoots per year in order to keep their license. For the 2020-2021 financial year, the amount of shoots Category H license holders must complete has been reduced by 50%. This is in recognition of the constant impact of COVID-19 on the ability of license holders to get out and shoot safely.... The revised number of competition shoots required on your participation cards are attached as a photo. Should you be unable to meet your requirements for the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 financial years, please contact us for advice. We have already had members attain successful renewals who had failed to meet their obligations because of COVID-19. All the best. - Kahlel.
04.01.2022 With the Qld government bringing forward the stage 2 easings, 20 people can now gather at indoor and outdoor sporting venues. Is the range going to open today as long as we all remember good social distancing measures ?
03.01.2022 Dear members and followers: see below a message from our hard working President. Hi fellow shooters. Just some news to keep you up to date, the contract for the range re-construction has been signed... and the initial deposit paid. the job was delivered to the builders draughtman today to complete. when that is completed it will go to council for approval, then it is full speed ahead. We don't know how long it will take in council but it will be 3 to 4 weeks construction time where the range will have to be shut. I have been promised that it will be completed by Christmas, as I know more I shall keep you informed. we did have a bit of a holdup as no one had thought about drainage but all done now, So until next time shoot straight and prosper. Cheers Poul See more

03.01.2022 We have been informed by multiple reliable sources NSW Police have banned the Ruger PC Charger 9mm handgun under the state's idiotic appearance laws. We also u...nderstand dealers of the gun have been contacted and told to stop selling it and recent purchasers have been contacted to return it immediately. Right now we have seen nothing official in writing about this and we are working to find out the facts so we can advise members how to proceed. From our perspective: These are legal handguns which meet the definition of a Cat H firearm and there is no reason to ban them. Once we have the correct info we will be actively working to reverse this ban - we'll need your help, so stay tuned. #allshooters
01.01.2022 A panorama taken back in August. See all this dirt I'm standing on? All of it has to be shifted back and a new backstop created, among other things, to get us running at full capacity. The photo doesn't do it justice. A mammoth task lies ahead but your committee is on top of things!
01.01.2022 Dear Members, Committee nomination forms have been sent via email for the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held in December.
