17.01.2022 Please be aware that Victory Heights RecreationalTrails will be closed to the public this weekend while hazard reduction burning is conducted in preparation for... this coming fire season. This work has been planned with assistance from Veteran Rural Fire Brigade and Gympie Fire Sation. The work will involve conducting a series of contained mosaic burns to provide a protective buffer around the 5000 young trees that were planted over the last 18 months and to reduce the potential for destructive wildfire in the forest. At this stage we hope to re-open early the following week once it's all extinguished. Thanks for your understanding. See more

12.01.2022 Unfortunately we had an unscheduled flare up this afternoon after a dead tree came down and ignited an adjacent unburnt area. Two CTCA and two Veteran RFB volun...teers were on call and able to successfully contain its spread. However it means that a number of large stags (dead Eucalypts that were needlessly poisoned some time ago) have now ignited and can't be extinguished. These tall stags (eg. the pair in the 2nd photo) are dangerous and will need to be monitored until they fall and burn themselves out. Due to the high hazard they pose to the public we unfortunately won't be re-opening the facility until they have come down and can be extinguished. 09.01.2022 BIKE STOLEN ...at approx 11.30 am this person came onto our premises and stole a Specialized Rockhopper Expert valued at $1700. He has ridden away via Brisbane Rd heading north. He was wearing a backpack on his front and another on his back. Please keep an eye out.
