07.01.2022 A great Day tour last Sunday at the museum with a visiting group from the Sunshine Coast... Like so many organizations, the Friendship Force of the Sunshine Coast has had their activities reduced by the impact of Covid 19. Normally, the club home hosts members of another Friendship Force club from another part of the world for a week at a time. Luckily, the club from Long Island New York visited in early March, just before all travel ceased. The 2020 plan for the Sunshine Co...ast club to travel to South Korea and Japan in April was cancelled, like all Friendship Force journeys for the foreseeable future. However, members of the local club have not allowed the hiatus in travel to hold them back. During the early lockdown, the club continued to meet online, with social activities such as virtual high teas and trivia quizzes. Now that they can meet in person regularly, they enjoy activities of the kind they would normally arrange for their visitors. The most recent was a visit to Gympie to travel on the Rattler and to visit the Woodworks Museum, the Goldmining and Historical Museum and the War History dioramas. President David Allan said one thing that has not changed is that many members maintain contact with international friends they have visited or hosted in the past, either individually or with online group meetings. The club intends to continue its focus to promote understanding across the barriers that separate people. There are over 350 clubs in more than 60 countries, and David expects Friendship Force to survive and thrive in the future. The photo shows President David Allan with Frank Kopke, tour guide at the gold mining museum. 02.01.2022 My three kids and I loved the Museum, discovering new artefacts and histories in each building. We were so impressed with the quantity and quality of the self guided exhibits. Would definitely recommend.

02.01.2022 Following a period of closure due to COVID-19, the Gympie Gold Mining and Historical Museum is . NOW OPEN . 7 days (Monday to Sunday) from 9am to 4pm. We are operating with restrictions, but this should have minimal impact on the visitor experience.... As we continue to navigate the changing world brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Gympie and District Historical Society’s priorities remain the same: the safety of our volunteers and our guests. Visitors can be assured the Museum has completed its COVID-19 Risk Assessment and adopted industry wide recommendations for its COVIDSafe Plan. #1 - Follow the 4sqm per person rule at the giftshop / entrance #2 - Manage visitor numbers in accordance with the Queensland Government directive #3 - Social distancing encouraged #4 - Hand sanitising stations with wipes supplied, throughout #5 - Cleaning wipes and bins for picnic and public areas #6 - Cleaning and disinfecting in accordance with WHS guidelines #7 - Visitor register for contact tracing With appropriate spacing, the Café at the Museum welcomes you to the Museum and allows seating up to 20 persons in up to three separate areas. We are a unique site, set on almost 5 acres, so there is plenty of open-air and space for social distancing. We can't wait to see you all soon . .
