24.01.2022 Expression of interest now open for Kids to Farms There is an increasing disconnect between rural and urban populations, and with this brings a lack of knowl...edge of how Australia's food and fibre is produced - how it makes it from the paddock to the plate, farm to fibre or crop to cup. The Educating Kids about Agriculture: Kids to Farms project, funded by the Australian Government aims to address this disconnect and will be based on the successful AgForce School to Industry Partnership Program (SIPP) through targeted activities for primary school students in Queensland. Primary students will visit farms, agricultural businesses and primary production worksites to learn about the agricultural industry using curriculum aligned learning modules bringing together the classroom and the farm, the students and the producer. Kids to Farms will provide students and teachers with a suite of activities and experiences including on-farm or primary production worksite visits, curriculum aligned hands-on activities and pre and post visit engagement in the classroom to impart a deeper understanding of where their food and fibre comes from. The AgForce SIPP Kids to Farms model includes food and fibre ‘mini classrooms’ at major events for groups of students (including BEEF Australia and Brisbane RNA); ‘AgConnect’ days for primary students to learn about a broad range of agricultural industries and careers in one place and satellite and virtual technology or other ‘in-class’ experiences including ‘Farmer in the Classroom’. If your primary school is interested in participating in Kids to Farms, please complete the EOI in the following link: http://web.agforceqld.org.au/cn/apjnk/kids2farm-eoi

19.01.2022 The woodchop arena at the Maryborough Showgrounds & Equestrian Park could be named after axeman and chainsaw racer Noel Hansen. Noel was involved with the show ...for more than 40 years. He was a beef and cane farmer at Dundathu, a fencing contractor and built cattle yards so he knew timber and how to swing an axe and use a chainsaw. Noel started competing in the Maryborough Show woodchopping classes and then moved into chainsaw racing. He then became a steward; supplied the blocks for the axe and chainsaw competitions as well as cleaning up after events. Noel competed in woodchopping and chainsaw racing at many shows around the state. Locally he also supported the Torbanlea Races and was involved in the planning and running of the woodchopping events. Council is now calling for feedback on the proposal to name the woodchopping arena at the showgrounds in his honour. Feedback can be left on the Council engagement hub page https://frasercoast.engagementhub.com.au/naming-mbs-woodcho. Suggestions must be lodged before midday on Thursday April 8.
18.01.2022 Our Hack Day is now complete and we wish to thank everyone involved for making it a great day. We especially thank our three wonderful judges, Cindy Ross (Show Horse Council Judge) in the Hunter Ring, Zoe Patching in the Hack Ring, and Jordan Jolly (EA Judge) in the Encouragement Ring. Thank you to Kelly Fredline Florist for the stunning Judge's bouquets. We had many beautifully turned out horses, and we appreciate the huge effort that goes into that. We hope all riders en...joyed themselves. Please feel free to share your photos... Thanks also to Mr Ray Bray our announcer, who did an exceptional job of keeping all of the rings going... and was very proud to announce he became a Great Grandfather of a little baby girl today! Thank you also to the Ring Committee for running a great canteen as always and helping us set up the arenas, and to 5th Element Coffee for rescuing us with a hot brew when we needed a pick up, and to Gympie Saddleworld for all their support.
