14.01.2022 GSHS Leadership Day. Gympie State High School staff had the privilege of spending the day with our potential leaders for 2021 (year 8 and 11). 18 students (including our current year 9 leaders) travelled to Mimburi Campus Belli Park for a fun-filled jam-packed day. We left GSHS at 8am and started with orientation and morning tea. Our program led by Mimburi staff included: Initiative Tasks Team Building (led by Darren Burns and Jack Reed)... Leadership Survival Skills Archery We were so honoured to work with these students and watch there amazing potential and interact with other year levels during the day. It was a great idea and the place was so applicable for the event. We are looking forward to working with these young leaders in 2021.

06.01.2022 Use of Memorial Park for School Formal Photos this year. We encourage you to monitor the Queensland Health website for guidelines regarding COVID restrictions and gathering size recommendations - https://www.qld.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19/current-status. Council is also monitoring changes and adhering to Qld Health advice with regard to COVID. ... The use of the iconic Memorial Park for a gathering space and for photographs to celebrate Year 12 graduation formals has become a celebrated generational tradition. Many parents, caregivers, aunts, uncles and family members will be celebrating with the next generation of high school graduates by capturing memories in the park, as they did at that age. To ensure that this tradition is preserved for future generations Gympie Regional Council is implementing a tree protection program for the heritage listed park and the trees within. The implementation of this program includes the prohibition of vehicles driving over tree root zones or parking beneath tree canopies. The tree root zones generally extend as far out as the canopy of each tree. Please see diagram below. These measures have been put in place to ensure the health and longevity off the trees in Memorial Park and to ensure that this tradition is ongoing and available to future graduates.
