21.01.2022 BREAKING: Power Rd on Gympie's Southside is currently blocked to all traffic as a vehicle is believed to have collided with a power pole. A spokesman from Queensland Ambulance said the driver was taken to Gympie Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries. Authorities are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible while they clean up and conduct investigations.

18.01.2022 Queensland Health officials are closely tracing the movements of the latest known coronavirus case in the state. The woman, who is currently quarantining in Maleny on the Sunshine Coast, visited the following locations. JANUARY 6... - Cappriccios Italian Pizza Restaurant, Maleny, 6.30pm-7pm JANUARY 7 - Purple Palate Cellars, Maleny, 4.15pm-4.25pm - Woolworths, Maleny, 4.30pm-4.50pm Health officials are asking anyone who has been in these locations during these time periods to get tested, regardless of if they have symptoms. Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said the woman flew to Melbourne from the UK on December 26 and tested positive. "She was then isolated and did the 10 days required isolation, cleared all her symptoms and was allowed to leave Victoria and fly to Queensland on the 5th of January," Dr Young said. Dr Young said the woman tested positive to the new UK variant and authorities are therefore taking more precaution. "The risk is extremely low ... because she's right at the end of her infectious period," Dr Young said.

17.01.2022 The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted a female driver to hospital after she was injured in a crash earlier today. The rescue chopper was called to the scene in Woolooga, north west of Gympie, just after 11:15am. It is believed the teenager had been driving a vehicle when it collided with another car on a rural road.... 07.01.2022 Have you seen Amy? There are unconfirmed reports she may have been in Gympie. Caboolture woman Amy Schulkins has been missing since 11pm December 30. Queensland Police and family hold concerns for her welfare. She is described as Caucasian, around 160cm in height, of a larger build with spiky brown hair and blue eyes.... Police say Amy is likely to be travelling in a white 2001 Nissan Patrol, Queensland registration 257VTN. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Police.

03.01.2022 FOUR PEOPLE CHARGED FOLLOWING FRASER ISLAND INVESTIGATION. Queensland Police allege that four people have been charged with unlawfully lighting fires on Fraser Island following a joint investigation involving Queensland Police and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS). It will be alleged on October 14, QPWS rangers on K’Gari were alerted to an illegal campfire within the Duling Camp Zone of Eastern Beach, north of Orange Creek.... Rangers attended and located a campfire that was covered in sand though still radiating heat. Native vegetation in close proximity had caught alight and started a wildfire to the north west of the camp site. A 24-year-old Warwick man has been charged with the unlawful lighting of a fire and leaving a fire unattended. A 21-year-old Rosenthal Heights man, a 24-year-old Rosenthal Heights man and a 23-year-old Massie man have been charged with one count each of the unlawful lighting of fires. They will appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on January 21. A 17-year-old boy will be dealt with according to the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 1992.

01.01.2022 What a great morning seeing Gympie prodigy and Maroons legend Tino Fa'asuamaleaui back on his home turf. Tino spent the morning passing around the footy and signing jerseys in Mary Street with a huge crowd of dotting fans and aspiring NRL players. 01.01.2022 A shipping container fire in Glenwood last night left a man with severe burns. The man, aged in his 50's, was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with airway and limb burns. Queensland Ambulance Service were called to the scene around 10.30 last night. ... It follows a separate incident in Glenwood which took place on Tuesday night, which saw a man suffer from burns to his arms, face and chest after a backyard fire went wrong.
