The handstand is one of the most crucial acrobatic skills to learn for gymnastics, as well as being an underrated and undervalued body weight exercise. This skill will give athletes a foundation of strength and balance which they will carry with them onto many different sports and facets of life. With the rise of Movement, CrossFit and Calisthenic gym cultures, the general public is beginning to understand the importance of fundamental acrobatic movements. Not only for high level athletes, but for EVERYONE. It is my opinion that out of all of these acrobatic movements, the handstand is king.
